whowey Posted August 4, 2017 Posted August 4, 2017 Can someone explain what renix is? I've come across some terms I don't know...any help? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk It's a combination of Renault and Bendix. Renault was the part owner of Jeep at the time and designed much of the electronics. Bendix was the manufacturer of much of the electronics on that system. Sent from my SM-S920L using Tapatalk
Pete M Posted August 4, 2017 Posted August 4, 2017 should be a big list of various definitions at the bottom of the list here:  http://comancheclub.com/topic/48710-diy-projects-writeups-master-search-index/
Ωhm Posted August 4, 2017 Posted August 4, 2017 Sometimes you'll see Fenix I (2.5L) or Fenix II (4.0L), both are what everyone calls Renix.
gogmorgo Posted August 5, 2017 Posted August 5, 2017 For a more detailed explanation, there are two different engine management (i.e. fuel injection and ignition) systems that came in Comanches, commonly referred to as Renix and H.O. From '87 to '90, (and possibly earlier on the 2.5L) they used the Renix system, as developed for AMC by Renault/Bendix. '91 and '92 used Chrysler's "High Output" system, H.O. for short, also called OBD1. It's a small hp bump, mostly due to a better flowing head, but is also much better to deal with. That said, there is a sect among us that believes otherwise, but we're pretty sure they'll still get to heaven... maybe.
cruiser54 Posted August 5, 2017 Posted August 5, 2017 No kidding. So, Renix owners are more well endowed then........
gogmorgo Posted August 5, 2017 Posted August 5, 2017 *unusually endowed. An unusual height could also be a small one. ;)
cruiser54 Posted August 6, 2017 Posted August 6, 2017 And HO still stands for Highly Overrated........"Really honey, I know it's not a Renix, but don't you think it's High Output?
johnj92131 Posted August 6, 2017 Posted August 6, 2017 Recall reading a quote from and old and well known French lady of the night: The magic in the magicians wand does not come from the wand's size, rather the magic comes from the way the wand is waived. Seems much the same to me if the wand is Renix or H.O.
