Little jeep Posted February 3, 2015 Author Posted February 3, 2015 Going to post my build thread. If someone can tell me how to add pictures it would be appreciated
gogmorgo Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 I like the sounds of this build! There's a couple threads pinned in the "testing" forum relevant to posting pictures. I'll edit this post with a link when I get home tonight if you haven't found them yet.
Little jeep Posted February 3, 2015 Author Posted February 3, 2015 started with a very solid Comanche. Long bed with roll bar. Truck was listed as 6cyl manual on Craigslist and when I arrived in Delaware to get it I noticed it was v6 and auto. Not what I wanted but I figured if I can get it for a good price I'll take it and strip it down to the shell. I was able to take it home for $1000
Little jeep Posted February 3, 2015 Author Posted February 3, 2015 And for the next couple weeks I was on Craigslist looking for deals and getting the major components I needed to build the coolest Comanche I could think of that still had a chance of driving down the road here in NJ  46x19.5x16.5r Baja claws  Cucv (military Silverado) 1 tons Dana 60 king pin, 14 bolt rear, 4.56, locker in rear  Np205 transfer case, divorced  Sm465 4 speed manual trans, 2wd. Low gear then 1-3  And finally the motor. 350sbc converting to carburated
Little jeep Posted February 3, 2015 Author Posted February 3, 2015 $2700 in total spent on those parts
projectMANCHI Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 looking forward to this build. ultimate goal for my comanche is 4 link and 1 tonsÂ
mnkyboy Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 Nice, I've got some 44x18.5s sitting around that I have been talking about putting on my MJ just for fun, not sure I would want to drive on them though.
Little jeep Posted February 3, 2015 Author Posted February 3, 2015 Made 4' tall saw horses to build the jeep on. Sat it on there today and sat the tires next to it for fun. That should be about where ride height is
BlackBeast Posted February 4, 2015 Posted February 4, 2015 Wow, I thought mine was tall! This is going to be interesting. Good luck!
89eliminator Posted February 4, 2015 Posted February 4, 2015 so you are building a frame for it? Â what do you plan on doing with the rig when you are done. Â
Little jeep Posted February 4, 2015 Author Posted February 4, 2015 Yes it does. I made frame rails for the front half and there will be a sub frame in the middle for the 4 link arms to mount to. The existing rear frame rails will be stiffened it will be used in mud and rock crawling Â

Crash Posted February 7, 2015 Posted February 7, 2015 Tell me you are going to at least shave the axles?Â
xjrev10 Posted February 9, 2015 Posted February 9, 2015 Tell me you are going to at least shave the axles? Â Running 46s?
Little jeep Posted February 9, 2015 Author Posted February 9, 2015 Tell me you are going to at least shave the axles?
Little jeep Posted February 9, 2015 Author Posted February 9, 2015 Shave as in take off the spring perches and shock mounts because you can see in the pics that I did?
JurassicJeep24 Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 No shave as in cutting eat metal off the bottom of the diff so they don't snag on rocks and what not. There isn't really a need to do it when you are running 46s
Little jeep Posted February 11, 2015 Author Posted February 11, 2015 Yea that extra 3/4" of steel hanging down might get in the way when it's 23" off the ground
Little jeep Posted February 14, 2015 Author Posted February 14, 2015 Getting the diffs under the truck was a job but we got it done
