dasbulliwagen Posted July 7, 2014 Posted July 7, 2014 www.4bangerjp.com There isnt much you can do to a 2.5 to get much more out of it, especially in the low end. But if there is anything, youll find it on the site I posted above.

pettus253 Posted July 7, 2014 Posted July 7, 2014 I have a 2.5L wrangler. Put a 4.0 throttle body, new 4 hole fuel injectors, electric fans, MSD wires and coil, K&N intake, 4.88 gears. Have noticed a slight improvement. Plan on doing the same to my 2.5 MJ. But gears are probably your best bet.
com4 Posted July 8, 2014 Author Posted July 8, 2014 Hi How I find 4banjerjp in face? and pettus253, do you have a good torque in lower rpm? thanks

pettus253 Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 Com4, I have a 5 speed in my Wrangler and automatic in the Manche. Its not really a fair comparison. When I change the parts in the MJ i'll let you know what differences I notice.

dasbulliwagen Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 The 4.0 throttle body and injectors only work on 91 and newer models. There's not as much possible with the TBI models. Though I wonder if there would be any issues with the TBI adapting to changes. It might do just fine. I have seen on 4banger too a writeup about installing a larger injector. Anything is possible with enough time and money.

johnj92131 Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 Hello What I can do to more power and more torque in lower rpm? engine 4 cyl 2.5. thanks One word: "Supercharger" You want more low end grunt, then you want a supercharger. Did not say it was cheap, but it will do more for that 2.5 4 banger than anything else. Especially big improvemet at the LOW end. Everything else you can do for the 4 banger will improve the top end, but not the low end. Now, gears will deliver more torque to the ground, but your engine will be screaming on the freeway. A big diesel engine conversion will also get you low end power in spades. But you will need $10K or so for starters.

Eagle Posted July 9, 2014 Posted July 9, 2014 Install a high altitude CPS. Are those still available? I thought I bought the last one in captivity about four years ago.
cruiser54 Posted July 9, 2014 Posted July 9, 2014 Install a high altitude CPS. Are those still available? I thought I bought the last one in captivity about four years ago. I did from the dealer. But as it turned out the PC307 from RockAuto was a Siemens, made in France. I think they're still available.
88whitemanche Posted July 9, 2014 Posted July 9, 2014 Outlaw just recently grabbed one for his 4cyl http://comancheclub.com/topic/43539-the-squirrel-master/

Does it fit the High Output 4.0? Am I correct that it advances the timing a few degrees to compensate for lower density air at high altitude? Has anyone used this on the 4.0? Thanks for any information.
benjy_26 Posted July 9, 2014 Posted July 9, 2014 Oreiley's has a high altitude unit marketed under their BWD line.

You are correct in what it does. It was for the Renix models only. For the HOs, the ECU handles that function. I don't think it adds any power or torque, unless you run mid-grade or hightest gas. The Renix engines have a knock sensor to retard the spark when they sense detonation. And that usually happens under load. What the high altitude CPS really does is allow more advance under light load, which boosts the fuel economy.
