HAHAHAHA man alex (grismj) and I have had a discussion or two about this...as well as colton (MJcolton/comancherob?)...

it'd be WAY bad@$$ but there's simply no parts available...maybe in a few years?

Posted

yeah, me an Jeepco had a nice discussion on how much it would e to ship one of those bad boys over this way.

they are shexay

any word on wether they are full frame or uni?

Posted

I'm pretty sure its uni. idk what its got for a drivetrain, but as far as i can tell from pictures, the rear section is the exact same as the first generation boxy cherokee with the squared off taillights and 'sharp' corners

if they have the rights to the Cherokee, why not petition them to make a restyled Comanche? Like an extended cab or something *just* that different.

This is on NAXJA about 49o8754209875 times, but for some reason never came up here.

I contacted a guy in Japan to hook me up with parts, and I was supposed to hook him up with parts so that I could convert my truck and he could fix his older Jeep, but he eventually backed out of the deal. I'm a lil sketchy about overseas business anyways, so I'm not too hurt about it.

My understanding is that this company builds a version of the Cherokee that has very lax tolerances, creating an unreliable vehicle that the doors may or may not line up on. Chrysler is not involved in the making of this Jeep.

And my Photoshop came out poorly so I won't embarrass myself posting it.

it's owned by diamler chrysler still. it's just a japanese export though.

No, it is NOT owned by DaimlerChrysler. Never was. It is majority owned by China, and DCX has about a 45% ownership stake. However, the partnership predates even Chrysler, going back to the AMC days. According to the gentleman who was the Director of International Sales a few years ago, the licensing agreement allows Beijing Jeep to sell anywhere in the world. When DCX was building Cherokees in the U.S. that was a non-issue, but now it seems entirely possible that if investors could be convinced to run this thing up, it would be completely possible to import these things to the U.S. and sell them through whatever dealerships (probably other than Mopar) would want to take them on.

They are NOT from Japan. They're Chinese, for Heaven's sake. And the technology is 95% straight American Jeep.

you got me...but at least it's partially owned by DC.

I would hope that I can see one at some point, and possibly go comanche 2500 on one (perhaps on my 3800?) just to change things up a bit

my link died but the discussion on NAXJA involved a guy in china willing to trade the parts for our standard setup

is that real or a nice chop?

Posted

gotta be a chop.

notice the lack of door gap behind the door on the lower section, and the 2500 trim doesn't extend beyond the fender well, then there's some slight rubbing at the bend in the snorkel that suggests blending

I find it kinda funny that someone went and dug up and revived this thread, when I started one about it in the pub as well. Not complaining though, just found it a lil comical is all.

I'd buy it

If this was a package here...

It would sticker for $22,995 to $24,995 for the fully loaded model with 3.8L V6, D44 Rear, D30 Front, Rubicon Rear Locker Option, Air, Buckets, etc.

The 2.4L 4cyl could be the cheapest PU in america at $16,995.

yea..

i don't know about you....

but I DON'T want that gosh-damned chrysler 3.8 v6 in ANY of my vehicles. change your package to include the 4.0 and I'd buy it.
