  1. My brake indicator light in the dash is always on. Where is the switch that closes to turn this light on? I have a 88, 4.0, 5spd Peugot, short bed with stock axles and drums.
  2. MV that is interesting. I wonder what tank uses that short arm float for proper gauge readings. BLHTAZ I have done the sender without dropping the tank before. I used this opportunity to drop it and check to see if the rubber cone that is supposed to support the tank was in there somewhere. I looked and I did not have the rubber piece or the corresponding mounting plate as found in the Chilton's manual.
  3. Alright I thought I would share what I learned. Unfortunately despite a valid effort by Wildman the unit I got from him did not work for me. The 18 gallon tank has the longer fuel float arm. The arm can not easily be moved. It is welded to the pivot point. This is by no means a step by step but just the key points. My leak was minor so I went about fixing it. A skilled metal worker took a look and pointed out that the plumbing on the sender is soldered on with what appears to be lead solder. Once that was realized, I was able to fix my fuel pump sweating the union just like I would copper pipe with some old 50% lead solder. It held a full tank of gas for the first time in years. The keys that I hope Wildman doesn't mind me sharing is the wiring. The wiring is held on by a 3/8" ID washer that has some teeth to it. I was surprised to find my local hardware store had these. I believe the o-ring is also 3/8". After replacing the o-ring and getting the washer in place I drove it on with a 1/2" deep well socket. I was afraid to do this work for fear of not being able to get a new sending unit if I somehow damaged it and regret not taking the leap earlier in doing what turned out to be an easy fix. The much harder part was getting the tank up and down.
  4. I have been living with a leaky fuel pump assembly for years. Mine leaks where the tubes go through the disk. Up until now I have not seen the complete assembly with the disk where it attaches to the tank. Has anyone put a AFE7091S AIRTEX ELECTRIC FUEL PUMP assembly in there 4.0L short bed? http://www2.discountjpparts.com/parts/p ... mp&dp=true
  5. That is a nice trip. If you want to test the 4wd take the trail under the power lines. I know you didn't take 2207 for this trip but be warned if the snow doesn't stop you the mudslide on 2207 will. From the Forest Service: A mudslide on a Forest Service road is blocking access between Little North Fork Road and French Creek Road. And officials with the Detroit Ranger District of the Willamette National Forest said it’s likely to stay that way for quite a while. The slide earlier this week is preventing through-travel on Road 2207 about three miles north of the French Creek Road intersection. The slide left nearly 300 feet of the road covered with mud and debris. The road is expected to remain blocked for several months and possibly longer as Forest Service crews wait for the slide area to stabilize and for suitable weather conditions to allow crews to get in to assess the needed repairs. The cause of the slide is unknown, although recent heavy rains and unstable soils are believed to be contributing factors. Visitors are encouraged to avoid the area around the slide because of safety concerns because of the potential for more slides. Contact: The Detroit Ranger District at (503) 854-3366.

  7. According to Google the number 1 country searching for Jeep + Comanche is .... Iraq. My only guess is our boys and girls in uniform are influencing that. I don't know if I trust it so here is the link so you can decide for yourself. http://www.google.com/insights/search/# ... lp=&cmpt=q Oh and if you search by city Phoenix is the number one location.
  8. I keep mine behind the seat but its not mounted. I haven't had any problems with it rattling etc.
  9. I use the new since last visit button on the right. I wonder if its affected?
  10. I didn't know there was a gauge cluster with oil and temp but no Tach. If that is what you have it should be a direct replacement. I didn't have the temp and oil so I needed the sending units for those.
  11. When mine does this I just put some pressure on the fuse panel with my foot and they come back on. The wiper timed through one of those relays similar to your blinkers. Something down there is loosened by the vibrations.
  12. I thought my pan was leaking from the drain plug. I added a new o ring and no change. Turns out there was a pin hole leak in the bottom of the pan. I would think a new o ring should be enough for most cases.
  13. Where did you get your fuel pump? I definitely don't want to buy mine there. I have been putting this one off for a while now.
  14. I have the same problem with a leak at the point the tubes go through the plate. Is there a good source for this part? At 3 gallons you would be well below that point. I can get about 12 gallons of gas max before it leaks bad. A fill up puts way too much pressure on it.
  15. Looks good my only concern would be reflection of the lights and the shadow created. Oh wait the stock lights are almost useless. Where is he going to mount the Off road lights?
  16. My wipers drop out and I just push on the fuse panel with my foot and they work again. I should replace the entire fuse panel and electrical. PO did a fine job wiring it with extension cords. :dunce:
  17. Would love to see some specs or links to more info on the front bumper as well. Thanks, Mike
  18. Alright so I thought this went away then it came back and went away and back. The plugs could stand to be replaced but are not awful. The wires and distributor are new but the wires often feel loose when I check them. I am going to get new plugs and do electric grease when I get a chance as well as see if I can't tighten up the connections. I will keep you posted. Thanks, Mike
  19. Alright I have my new 4.0 in my MJ and its a big improvement. Found out I have a pin hole leak in the bottom center of my pan so I will have to replace that this weekend at my 500 mile oil change. The larger issue is that there is a slight shudder over 1800 rpm. It is most noticeable when the rpms are held constant and under load. At first start up I had to adjust the timing by turning the distributor cap to eliminate misfiring. This is not nearly as rough a shudder. I don't know if this makes sense as written but any ideas would be appreciated.
  20. I paid $120 round trip on shipping for my new engine are return of the core. I am sure that is the agreed rate cause of volume but it was through USF Reddaway and they picked up and dropped of with a lift gate. But now that I look its a local company. Anyways look outside the brown/Fed.
  21. Are you sure your oil is leaking from the plug? I thought mine was but turns out there was a pin hole in the bottom of the pan just forward of the plug.
  22. A friend in Search and Rescue has one. He has been painting it and doing some other things so its not yellow anymore but it was a Fire department rig with a big ol water tank in the bed. He runs the old Tornado straight 6 for now. He got his dad to buy a 725 (ambulance body) so they will have a pair of the most capable search rigs out there. http://home.comcast.net/~mmi_inc/bb.htm
  23. Triple I sent you a PM with my address. Thanks again.
  24. What are "'cke" parts?
  25. triple4x4 I am in Salem, Oregon. I will be flying through SLC tomorrow and again on Christmas day too bad security is a nightmare. I will have to see what postage is.
