Geonovast
*shrug* maybe he's sick of BS from craigslist idiots. i can agree with this Maybe, but that attitude isn't helping. Sellers get pissy because of stupid buyers. Buyers get pissy because of stupid sellers. Threatening to throw it away unless someone buys it for what you want is not really acceptable if you want to sell it. I'd rather give something away that I know is rare than intentionally demolish it just so nobody can come by and get it later. This guy is a complete jackass, and clearly wants everyone to know it. Really makes you want to dangle something he's been seeking for years in front of his face, tell him he can't have it, and burn it right in front of him. JeepcoMJ
true enough. That said, I've thrown tons of xj/mj stuff out over the last several years, and did so again this last week (97+ xj stuff) because I just don't want to deal with getting people my address and arranging pickup times for parts, waiting for them to waste my time by not showing up on time, etc. That's obviously a whole different ball game with people like you, Correy...or Rob, Jake, the other Jake, Jerry, Pete, Tim, or Wade....I'd make time for all of you guys gladly. But we all know each other well enough to get what needs done done and be done with it with the least haggle possible. maybe a dollar is a dollar. but if i'm not making $50 or more on something, i just won't deal with it anymore. Geonovast
Yes, Pat, but if you were in this guy's exact position... needing enough to make it worth your time before you haul it to the scrap yard, there's two things you shouldn't do that he's doing. 1. Tell people it's going to the scrapyard if they don't buy it. 2. Destroying it when you take it there. If it's in good shape, the right person may see it in time and save it. It just doesn't make any sort of sense.
BPB
This makes me laugh. A couple years ago a good friend of mine had a pair of two door Xj seats is great shape for sale on another forum. After being low balled a few times he brought them to my place doused them in gasoline and lit them on fire. Them posted pics on the forum. Maybe Darren still has some pics? It was soo funny
jimoshel
20 years ago, or so, I had a 60X80 shop with a 5 acre storage yard. Since then I've moved 5 times, downsizing each time. I have thrown away, sold, traded or gave away a small fortune in new, used parts. I have gotten so disgusted in dealing with people that I'm really not sure how I feel about it anymore. I once gave away a '65 CJ5 because the fella wanted it. didn't have any money and I took a liking to him. Another time I deliberately destroyed a freshly rebuilt 350 Buick engine still on the test stand. In front of an idiot that had p*ssed me off and I wanted to show him what he could do with his low ball offer. Right now I have pick up load of new parts, still in original packages that I don't know what to do with. Don't want to mess with trying to sell them. Don't want to throw them away. Guess they'll just sit on the shelf until I kick off and then the GF will trash them. Anyway I won't have to see it. Sorry for the long winded ramble but that's my 2 cents worth. I can not even get people to come and take these doors or fenders for free. Dropping them off at the recycling yard on the way to work will be more worth my time than people insisting I deliver free parts with no willingness to cover gas either. zackcj7
Yeah, that guys threatening tone isn't exactly going to help get people interested. My real pet peeve with Craigslist ads is sellers who put very little information. The ad for my '88 didn't say it was a Comanche, didn't list any details, and of course had no pictures. It's not twitter, there is no character limit, type some details! I don't want to waste my time contacting some idiot who may or may not have what i'm looking for. Geonovast
I don't even click if there's not a picture. So many people also tend to leave out whether or not it's a manual or automatic. Rather vital to most people buying a vehicle. I have the same issues with eBay. So many people post a freaking stock picture of what they're selling. The only way this is somewhat acceptable is if you're selling something new, which usually isn't the case.
jeepdoggydogB
In my area it is not called Dregs list for nothing. I am so sick of lowballers, BS'ers, and tire kickers that the only vehicle I would sell on CL is one with a rod knock ready to blow up at any moment. I have had idiots low ball for a vehicle than demand all the paperwork of upgrades and services. :fs1:
huck731
I've seen people like this before, he doesnt really want anybody to buy it because he isnt able to drive it anymore, just want to let everyoen know he is goign to wreck a vehicle that coudl potentialy extend the life of a few others for a few more years. I myself and currently tryign to sell my motorcycle I was hit on last year, it's listed for the low side price of a good engine and they get the entire biek plus carbs. some guy offered my $200, if he had just wanted the two carbs sets I would have taken it. I think some people assume that because your sellign it on c-list you'll take anything for it and just want it gone. p.s. no I don't think my bike is worth alot, but a full 50% off the asking price is to much, especially since the right person could fix it up to ride again. Rymanrph
Sometimes I think people threaten to scrap something so that on the fence buyers will commit. Pretty lousy tactic if you ask me though.
92tanMJ
We have this around here too. The ads are '1025 OBO OR ITS GETTING SCRAPPED" and I'm just like you bastards. Alexia and Jim I'd take those parts! lol
sinkrun
I am really fighting myself on going to look at this my temper is not good anymore however that is allot of good parts and the price really isnt that bad. I was thinking of taking my Comanche don't know if that would help or hurt as I just welded and fixed the wheel arch he may think I am hard up.
