Keyav8r Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 Maybe this should be in The Pub section, but why doesn't everybody have their location shown below their name and avatar (or, in my case, their lack of an avatar)? It's not like the location is critical personal information and it would cut out people having to ask where the poster is located. My pet peeve for the day!
Alexia Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 Almost feel like this is directed at me! :P I guess I never remembered to fill it in.
HOrnbrod Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 Yes Keyav8r, this is Pub material, and I agree 100% with you. It also frosts me when people ask technical questions about their rig and don't edit their signature detailing what year, model, engine, etc. they have. I don't even reply to that stuff because I don't like guessing. .
jimoshel Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 Mine too. Many a time I've seen a request for something and I wouldn't answer it because I didn't know their location.
mnkyboy Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 We have discussed this before in the past. I bugs me too. Really its dumb not to, if you need help or parts or whatever usually a local member is willing to help you out. This club is a much more useful resource if people know where you are. There has been a few times ive given or loaned parts to local members or offered use of my shop to help them out. In fact at least once a year sometimes more we open our shop to local members free of charge to use the lift and other equipment to help with thier rigs.
87Warrior Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 My guess is that most of the folks who don't have their location visible have simply forgotten to fill out their profile. On the other hand, I am sure there are a few paranoid folks who simply refuse to fill it out.
Pete M Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 or maybe they just really, really hate their city... :dunno: like me...

86customanche Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 or maybe they just really, really hate their city... :dunno: like me... No city can be that bad. I live in a college town(UVA) yet graduated from Virginia Tech and this is still a nice place to live
fiatslug87 Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 No profile info is displayed when using the mobile version, can this be changed?
Pete M Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 No city can be that bad. I live in a college town(UVA) yet graduated from Virginia Tech and this is still a nice place to live how many times have you gone to court with your city over stupid stuff?
hitman72 Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 I like the idea of showing the persons location. Also i have been on other jeep related forums where each area broken down (southwest / California / northern ca) . I have noticed its great when trying to plan trips, events, and meet people you can talk to face to face.
Dadinator Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 I don't mind putting mine. Most people wouldn't be able to find it anyway. :laughin:
86customanche Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 how many times have you gone to court with your city over stupid stuff? Zero times. That would make me reconsider things.
Keyav8r Posted March 2, 2013 Author Posted March 2, 2013 Not pointed at you in particular, Alex. Hadn't noticed yours was missing. Doesn't matter because you're an admin and we all know admins have magical powers. Like making multiple posts disappear.
