my86mj
in the brief 2 weeks the jeep ran as i was driving it around ive become familiarized with an odd phenomenon. ive had multiple people tell me that comanches are garbage and cherokees are quite a bit better. these are comments from people with jeeps which threw me off because I'm used to toyota guys hating on my truck but jeep on jeep hate? has anyone had this happen? mnkyboy
What exactly is better about a Cherokee? I own both and my MJ is built quite a bit stouter then my XJ.
jimoshel
Just the ignorant trying to impress you with their lack of smarts, or bitter jealously because they know you got something better than they got.
my86mj
pretty much i got a buddy who has the same setup only in a cherokee everything mechanical is the same he claims his will go more places. i told him to fill his hatch with bark mulch and try to go there. knever3
Different trucks for different people, Cherokee better departure angle and shorter wheelbase gets you more places. The enclosed cargo area keeps stuff dry in the XJ. Comanche could haul your bed and your dresser home. My thought, why not have both? Have your cake and eat it!! ParadiseMJ
I have lived in this area for 25+ years. There is a Cherokee in every parking lot, you can't throw a baseball in any direction without hitting an XJ. There are, on the other hand, about 8 MJ's in the entire county and half of them are grandma's 2 wheel drive. I, personally, am superior because I own an MJ and they DON't...HaaaHaaa

Incommando
Besides: you may be asking on the wrong forum. Plenty of jeep-on-jeep hate goes on here.
Comanche County
XJs are good for hauling people because they have a back seat...but since its so small the passengers mostly just sit on the other's nerves, the backcargo area is good for hauling light weight bulky objects and really nothing of any weight. Strangely, I don't remember a Metric Ton XJ. They're great and I love em, but get them off camber and they twist like that horrible "Snork the Elephant" costume in the Banana Splits show. Automan2164
Strangely, I don't remember a Metric Ton XJ. It wasn't sold as such, but the D44 was an option. Although something tells me you already knew that. Rob

I dunno. I've done both and I think I like it better haulin' around my relations in the MJ than in the XJ. Fewer of them fit in the cab where I have to listen to them... God Bless my bucket seats. :brows:
Comanche County
I'm talking about routinely hauling 500-1000lbs in the back (or approximately 75 cases of beer or two full whiskey barrels) , just not a job for the XJ. One of the reasons MJs are sprung under.
Rymanrph
I haven't had anyone "hate" on my truck, but I did have someone with a bad case of jealousy. I was at a shop a couple hours away and while I was there I asked about their local pull a part junk yards. The guy referred me to a small yard just down the street because the owner had a Comanche with a 2000 swap. He said I just had to go down there to show him my truck. I wasn't in a hurry, so I said OK. When i got there, the owner was absent but all his employees went nuts looking at my truck. They called the owner and told him to get there as quick as he could to see the truck. I didn't mind waiting because I wanted to see his truck. Well, he finally showed up like 20 minutes later (not in the Comanche) and all he said as he walked by was, "Nice truck. I have one." His employees said that he didn't want to talk because my truck was nicer than his. I won't say his name, yard name or where it was in case he's on here, but I thought it was kinda rude. I was hoping to swap some stories and ask him some questions about his truck, but oh well.

Zenobian_84
Haters gunna hate :MJ 1: True 'dat. :laughin: Personally, the parts where I live around, I've never gotten any sort of bias towards my MJ. Everyone stares in awe as it rolls past, and a lot of different kind of people always compliment it whenever I stop anywhere. I'm not surprised at the negativity of others though. I'd have to agree with Jim though; other people get jealous at things they can't get their grubby hands on. It's just how it is sometimes.
