jeeplover88 Posted June 23, 2012 Posted June 23, 2012 Hey guys, I'm looking at purchasing a new tailgate handle (mine is rusted inside out). I'm just wondering what handles would fit on a 88 comanche? Has anyone had any experience putting on an S-10 or Ranger handle? Thanks guys! :Canadaflag:
Eagle Posted June 23, 2012 Posted June 23, 2012 Someone posted awhile back that a handle for an early S-10 (don't remember which years) is the exact same handle. I've never verified that.
jimoshel Posted June 23, 2012 Posted June 23, 2012 A '83 thru '93 S10 tail gate handle will not interchange with '86-'89 MJ. Those are the only years I have so can't speak for the others. The mounting and the linkage is different. They could probably be made to fit by swapping everything.

It's a fabbed replacement part for the original MJ handle. Good job too. :cheers:

Took longer to take the old rusted one off then to make the new one :thumbsup: Id be willing to make another one :wrench:

ShadowRaptor Posted May 31, 2020 Posted May 31, 2020 On mine I used a handle from a full-size Chevy. I want to say that it was from the early 90's. Had to finagle it a bit to get it to fit and function, but it works.
Jtslick89 Posted August 22, 2020 Posted August 22, 2020 I have an OEM black one with some rust, no rot though. It opens and closes, needs cosmetic restoring.
