Pete M
Watching "Bullitt" just now and started thinking about other chase scenes in cinematography. What are your favorites? I've got a thing for the parking structure chase in "Tomorrow Never Dies". Bond cars are the best. Oh, and there's "Bullitt" of course, the grand pappy of the modern chase. :D
mnkyboy
i almost watched bullitt tonight too. My favorite would have to be the original gone in 60 seconds

freakjeep93
i like the last fast and furious when the main characters are escaping with the drug lord through the desert. not a police chase but still really cool in my book

Automan2164
The chase scene in "Taken" where he is putting the XJ through the paces. EDIT: How could you guys watch the original gone in sixty seconds? I had a headache from trying to follow it with all the cut-aways, and weird camera shots. :dunno: Rob L.
kro10000
James Bond, Diamonds are Forever, love the 71 (72?) Mach 1 getting chased by the cops. That was one of the few American Bond cars (dare I say the only?). Also liked the original gone in sixty seconds, also Taken (besides the added V8 soundtrack)
mnkyboy
The chase scene in "Taken" where he is putting the XJ through the paces. Rob L. How about the XJ chase scene in goonies EDIT: How could you guys watch the original gone in sixty seconds? I had a headache from trying to follow it with all the cut-aways, and weird camera shots. :dunno: Rob L. Its definitely not a big production film and thats what i like about it. they couldnt afford alot of actors so they used regular people, for example the cops are real cops. there are no special effects so pretty much all the crashes were real, some were even accidents that they caught on tape the movie is also far more realistic then the newer one,you might be able to learn to be a car thief by watching it. Xacto
I've always liked the chase in The Seven Ups: No crashes with enormous fireballs, no cars flying off ramps disguised as fruit stands, no CGI, just 10 minutes of pretty realistic high speed chasing in NYC and out into the country. Pete M
I read the back story on the Bullit chase...That Mopar kept walking away from the Mustang... Yup. nothing they did could get the 289 to keep up with that 440. big-blocks ftw! :D best lookin' mustang ever though. just needed some more horses. Comanche County
Yep, the original Gone is 60 Seconds, Bullitt of course, and one I forgot the name of: its Deniro in Amsterdam I think, The Heist maybe...
dasbulliwagen
The final scene from the original Gone in 60 seconds is great, but I also LOVE the final chase scene form The Blues Brothers! I just love how many cop cars they wrecked for that! We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, its dark, and we're wearing sunglasses..... HIT IT! Pete M
whoops! you are correct. not sure why I was thinking 289.
kro10000
 Id rather have a high strung 289 than a dog of a 390 anyway. I'm not a big fan of the FE engines, except the Cammer 427
Pete M
Oooo, the chase in "the french connection", where he's following the train. I love that one.

wyk
James Bond, Diamonds are Forever, love the 71 (72?) Mach 1 getting chased by the cops. That was one of the few American Bond cars (dare I say the only?). That's a big dare, especially considering Ford made the Aston Martin DBS in Casino Royale and possibly QOS, having owned AM at the time both films were in production ;) I dunno about chase scenes, but my favorite car inspired scene is probably the Daytona(or modified vette...) scene in Miami Vice. Nearly an entire minute on TV with no dialogue - unheard of at the time.
WahooSteeler
the Italian Job remake with the Mini's is pretty cool.

shelbyluvv
The OG, Vanishing Point... "The Beast" was awesome. "It takes a Mopar, to catch a Mopar!"
streetjeep2.5
I know it can't compare to modern chase scenes, but the police after Robert Mitchum in "Thunder Road" was good. Except, at first the chasing car was a 57 chevy, but became a 57 ford somewhere on the road! BTW, I have steel bodied very detailed 1/25 models of both Bullitt cars!
