My sister just had her and her husbands work car broken inot while they were home. The have a friend that has a trained and certifed blood hound rescue. They followed the sent the next day over a mile and it ended in the middle of a parking lot if he would have went to a door then the police would have had probale cause to get a warrant. Good luck in finding them!

That sucks man :fs1: . How much did they get?

Sorry about your bad luck luck. Last person that broke into my car I got red handed and got to beat the piss out of them, maybe they'll come back :brows:

Wrong guy to get caught by :brows:

Back when my MJ was still my daily driver, some junkie smashed my window with a big rock (left it laying inside the cab), and stole my Sony CASSETTE player, when I was at work. :headpop:

Also tore open the glovebox to get the faceplate. :fs1:

Sorry man,

Keep an eye on Craig's list, maybe your radio will show up there.

:smart: this MUST be followed by a detailed story of how and what happened

Well let's just say I hate apt living, and I can sleep like a rock even so when the baby is crying her head off and the girl has to get up to get her :rotfl2: , but I know every sound that goes on where I live, when I hear a door open when it isn;t the time the neighbor goes to work I'm on my feet from a dead sleep, I just have that intuitive thing or something, but any-who looked out the window, (lived upstairs) and saw a punk going through my car, car passenger door lock was broke at the time :fs1: but rather that then locked and lose a window, :( sorry man, so told the girl to call the cops, and I made my way down the stairs and threw open the door, car parked just outside the door, and yelled "hey!" as I jumped for him, he took off with some cds in hand, I gave chase right behind him, he dropped the cds being I was right behind him, I just in shorts bare footed, kicked his right leg like a school yard boy tripping the other teams soccer player, he fell face first on the edge of the side walk rolled into the grass, as he tried to roll out of it and pop up I was at full stride with a right hook to his chin, laid him out on the grass, but not knock out just sore, yet he tried getting back up, so mounted and ground and pounded his @$$, he tell he was crying "stop! Stop! I'm Sorry! I'm Sorry! Stop!" but I did not stop until the girl came out and stopped me and told me the cops were on the way. So I had rolled him over and put his hands behind his back and told him to stay there. He did not move. However come to find out his older brother lived there, which I knew him, well he had showed up and saw his brother beat up and on the ground and he started to get in my face, I tolf him to stop back and check his brother cause he was trying to rip off my stuff, and told him if he had a problem with how I handled it then we can take care of it right now, but he knew me and of me so he said nope that was fine I was right, so he asked to take his brother and for me not to get the cops involved, I told him ok but he had to explain the rules of respect and he had to replace my scratched cds, he agreed, so took him off. Well so the cop showed up, and I just happened to know who it was. So I told him what happened and he laughed, and said good that's less paper work I have to do when you handle things. So we laughed for a min and bs'ed and so he took off. So all good right, wrong, I saw the same knuckle head stealing some chairs of the neighbors, So I got really irritated by this and went up to his bothers place, mom's place and talked to her, she said he told her he bought them, I told her no and explained and about the night before which she didn't even know about, was told he just got into a fight or something, so any-who guess she smacked up upside the head and had him locked up, guess he had a couple other open cases for stealing.

Ok bedtime story is over with, good night boys and girls!

ya thievery sucks... back when i was in college i had a super clean isuzu puckup that the radio got stolen from twice.... after the second one disappeared i got another one and installed it surrounded by razor wire... came home from school one day a week or so later and the lock was popped again, but this time the radio was still there and there was some blood spots on the carpet underneath it... and the punk kid that lived next door had some freshly bandaged hands the next morning..... i dragged him back into his house, and confronted him in front of his parents at 7:30 am, had his dad come over and look at my truck, and by the time we got back inside the kid had a glowing handprint across his face and both of my stolen radios were on their kitchen table!

Thieving really bugs me, but I guess what really bugs me more is lazy stupid thieves I see that the situation for you guys that have had your radio stolen is really $#!&ty, but to the person that attempted to steal windows radio is a moron, it looks like they only made out with your faceplate, if the idiot had any sense at all he would have been able to take the whole thing with ease, you just need some specific tools and common sense. for fitch it looks like they did way too much work then what was needed, your radio is more then likely a din mounted radio so there is no need to take off the dash bezel and probably break the screw hole that was behind the ashtray. I would rather (well I would rather low life pieces of $#!& not ever go near my stuff but...) if they attempt to steal my stuff then they steel the radio, not destroy stuff in the process then give up and just take my face plate, thats just plain laziness.

I worked in an audio install shop for 3 years and i have seen my share of theft attempts and missing face-plates, and we always joked that we were going to go out and become "courteous thieves" we would remove the radio without breaking any dash pieces, unplug the harness without cutting all the wires off and even look around to see if you had the factory radio and put that back so at least you had some music to listen to.

All in all a $#!&ty situation and I'm sorry for your loss.

my $300 head unit was stolen back in '04 when I was a junior in high school, out of my old vw cabriolet.

7 stereos stolen from 7 cars in the school parking lot in one day. cops didn't do $#!&. sucked since that was the first day of snow that year (1' easy), and they wrecked ALL of my hvac controls, headlight controls, gauge wiring, and switch wiring...fogged up like a mofo, no lights, and god knows what else was wrong with it.

another kid found out which crack heads did it and beat the piss out of them before hauling their asses to jail (matched prints from cars).

That sucks... :wall: I've had it happen too. soapbox.gif

About 15 years ago I punk smashed out my drivers window on my 1971 'Çuda 340 pistol grip 4 speed I had while I was at work. :fs1: He busted a bunch of trim getting my Alpine 7901 cd stereo out of it. He wasn't expecting the razor blades taped all around the back of the it. :rotfl2: He had already cut all the wires including the 16 bit linear lead I'm guessing. When he got out he left quite a few bloody finger prints. :rotf: I called the cops and when they showed up and found out it was a week old $750.00 stereo they called the detectives. They told me that it was grand theft and finger printed my car while I was standing out in the 40 degree weather we had. :shake: He took pictures and said he would let me know what he could find out. He laughed about the razor blades and said the blood left great fingerprints. jamminz.gif

The ride home sucked because it was a drag car without any heat. :headpop:

The next morning he called and told me he arrested the punk that broke into my car at Waukesha hospital when he was getting 12 stitches put in his hand. He said he gave that hand a good squeeze when he cuffed him just for me. :D

The punk was wanted for 7 other offenses and was sent to the Waupon state pen for 5 years. 8) I was paid for all the damage and the stereo too. :D

Since I knew who he was I paid him a visit after he got out. He had a nice Camaro he was driving. I took a syringe full of deer piss and skunk scent and stuck it threw his weatherstrip. I sprayed the entire interior with it and dumped a bottle of skunk scent into his fresh air inlet in the cowl. :teehee: I left no finger prints or any evidence behind. :brows:

He thought someone else I knew did it and went over to kick his @$$ with a baseball bat. My buddy was working in his shop with all the doors closed and the guy made the bad mistake of entering without permission. He didn't know my buddy was a blackbelt that fought in competitions. Needless to say he got his @$$ kicked along with 3 broken ribs and a broken arm. My buddy blocked two swings the punk made and took the bat away from him.

The punk was arrested by the same cop that busted him the first time for parol violatition and assult to do bodily harm since he had a baseball bat. He was sent back to Waupon State pen for 8 more years.

Nobody has heard from him since... :rotf:

I can tell you this because the state statue of limitations has been over for years.

Hopefully yours will end with good results too. jamminz.gif

The only thing to worry about with Booby trapping your stereo is that in this day in age you can be held accountable for a person being hurt, even if he was trying to steal your stuff. its dumb but it does happen, so be careful.

This time it will have an alarm that has a silent alarm setting and I will have pepper spray. My MJ will be indoors or within the 2 mile radius that the pager has. It probably will be within 100 yards to tell the truth. The MJ will also have tie-straps that are handcuff size for after the spray. :brows:

I also have umbrella coverage insurance for a reason. ;)

The faceplate isn't even that big of a deal. I have the factory stereo and just put it back in for now. But the glass that I will be finding for the next ten years, and my dash bezel that they damaged. I had a woodgrain bezel from a limited WJ in there, and they are not easy to find. They destroyed it in the process of removing my faceplate...

Plus I'm 99% sure who did it, but can't do $#!& because I don't have proof. I also no longer feel safe parking it in my own driveway.

I used to work with a guy who had a beeper style alarm.

Watching him drop everything, and blast out the door with the crazed axmurder look on his face brought the lolz

(all were false alarms :clapping: ).

Tip of the day:

Don't set the sensitivity too low, unless you need the exercise. :D

Openning a door is what will set it off so it won't be a false alarm.

what is the point of that? I have a 2 way pager on my car and I have a shock sensor on it and it tells me when something bumps my car, if you have it set off only with a door being opened. well they are going to check if its locked and then smash out a window. at that point your window is gone and your alarm will tell you. if you have a shock sensor or a motion sensor it will warn if they get near or bump your car and they will probably think twice about picking up that rock.

Years ago my stereo was lifted while the truck was at the shop. Inside job. He lifted the key from work, came back at night to thieve my stuff, then returned the key the next day. He might have gotten away with it except that he didn't break anything. Did he think I wasn't going to notice the radio missing when I came to pick up the truck? Never did figure out what was going through his head. :hmm:
