Jerry
A million? Two million? A thousand? Anyone know? Or know where to find out? I was just wondering
HOrnbrod
I found these factory annual production numbers awhile ago on the web. Pretty sure they are accurate: Production numbers: 1985: 29,245 1986: 33,386 1987: 43,070 1988: 43,718 1989: 25,311 1990: 9,576 1991: 5,188 1992: 952 EDIT: Here's where I found the numbers: http://www.comanchemj.1hwy.com/photo6.html It was Rob's (Automan) site - guess I'm not brain dead yet.
shelbyluvv
Total production run for all 8 years of 190,446 I guess they are kinda rare! I thought there was like 500K made total. I am glad I have had the chance to own and drive 3 of them so far!
JeepcoMJ
I found these factory annual production numbers awhile ago on the web. mvusse
The chart lists production years, not model years. So the 85 ones would have been sold as an 86.
SuperWade2
I also thought that chart listed on 4x4 Models or something that was only a subset, but maybe I'm remembering wrong... was in a book or something... brain going south...

That is correct; I believe the above numbers are only the 4WD models.
HOrnbrod
Could be. I don't remember where I got these figures. I think they were on a member's web site on the old Yahoo Comanche group. Automan maybe? Brain dead............
SuperWade2
I just emailed the Historical Information Email Link at the Walter P. Chrysler Museum to see if they had any info or knew where we could get some... not holding my breath, but 30 seconds of my life just to see... Jerry
So I have one of the 190,446 4x4 MJ's off the production line Cool So if most of those were sold in North America which is 9,540,000sq miles area (thanks wikipedia) then that means there is approximately one Comanche for every 50sq miles. So that's why I don't them very often! OK, so how many blue ones were there  I'm just having some fun here  Anyone got any other interesting random MJ factoids?
deziped
0 blue production line MJ's in my area. All I see is gray (2 shades), red, beige, white, and a black one in JY.
jpnjim
AMC used to post this stuff in their stockholders reports, I don't know if Chrysler continued that tradition, but with the old AMC stuff, it's the only reason some of the production figures are even known. Geonovast
Hm, I guess I really should've gotten that 92 I saw 2 years ago for $900. Wasn't in too bad of shape, just didn't need another 2wd 2.5/AX-4. Poor thing probably went to the crushers :(

Jerry
The Spanish actually gave the Comanche their present name, using a word that comes from the Ute term Komantcia that refers to "enemy"or more accurately to "anyone who wants to fight me all the time." I like that factoid! It does make sense. I often have to fight with my Comanche's gearbox! And when it's cold just trying to get past the frozen doors and locks is a battle :rotfl2:

robfg67
It would be interesting to know how many MJ's are still registered. I can go months here in the New England area between sightings.
Jerry
I had to fight with my old stickshift every time the fluid level dropped (had a slow leak). No leaks here thankfully and fresh oil, 2nd gear synchromesh is buggered I think. Gets better as it warms up  Anyone worked out how many 2WD Comanches were sold then?

pantera1973
I was out driving last Saturday here in Knoxville and I saw 4 MJ's in less than 20 minutes! I'd say there are at least 10 in the area.
cocco78
Sometimes I go weeks without seeing one, then its like the MJ jackpot and I see a bunch. I seen that the Jeep dealer in the next town over has an mj with a plow on it, they were using it to plow the lot! But looking at the production numbers now I see why every one I see is an 88, along with the one I own!
jpdriver1
next questions would be --- how many metric tonnes made each yr? how many are still registered?
