mvusse
May have found the cause of my DW. Find out tomorrow when I put it back together. Frame end heim joint on track bar was wore out and loose as a goose, and somehow the axle end was bone dry, not a drop of grease left, making the sleeve loose. Good thing is local hardware store stocks heim joints. Bad thing is that bugger costs $27!

Not really messing with the engine much untill everything else is done. mvusse
Installed new heim on track bar, greased up axle side good, tightened loose track bar bracket bolts, tightened loose steering box bolts, and took it for a test drive. About 35 I get a little vibe, 40 it is a "real bad wobble", 45 it starts to diminish and at 50 the passenger seat head rest is vibrating. No more DW! Switched the front wheels with the rear and front vibe/real bad wobble is gone, but now I'm getting a butt massage... Tomorrow I get to renew my drivers license and order my new tires (Maxxis Buckshot 35x12.50)

Lenard
Checked oil, Checked tire pressure, aired up tire that was low, (ill get that fixed one of these days), took it for a spin, found a stolen car, well...not really find it, it was just kinda sitting right there in the middle of the road, couldn't miss it. I called Dispatch and reported it, came by later and I'm pretty sure they (Deputy and Investigator) were pulling drugs outa the trunk. Not sure but it was a white powder substance in a clear baggy. :dunno: maybe you should of looked in the car to see if anyone needed help....then look for money!!!!!! :wall: :wall: :wall: :wall: :wall: :wall: :wall: :wall: i looked in the car, checked glove box see who it was licensed to . i just wanted the son of a b*@$£ outa the road it was in the way. Tomorrow I get to renew my drivers license and order my new tires (Maxxis Buckshot 35x12.50) WILL YOU PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE BALANCE YOUR WHEELS?????? I mean like proffesionally! Ive seen DW cases taken care of just by doing this alone! I know though your truck has had serious issues, but if you would just balance your wheels, it would be soo much better! Edit... just saw you got new tires! SA-WEET!
mvusse
There's two parts to DW. Something has to ALLOW it to happen (track bar, loose bolts), and something has to SET IT OFF (usually a bump, but in this case a badly out of balance tire). I am still puzzled that a tire can go from balanced to that badly out over the span of three days and 20 miles. Unless it's not a balance issue, but a broken belt (wouldn't be the first time). But I inspected the tire as that was my first guess, and I can't find anything wrong that would be visible from the outside. And yes, I am getting my new tires professionally mounted and balanced tomorrow afternoon.

mvusse
Yeah, gonna have to play with the forklift at work again to flex the suspension to see how far I got to go with the cutting wheel. May have to move the front axle forward a bit too.
CWLONGSHOT
I got the truck all buttoned up tonight... I also found the pos batt cable loose. I tightened the nut, it snapped!!! Good thing I had a spare!! I warmed it up and checked the temp... BINGO!!! Right at 180, good heat and I'm happy!!! Then when doing a final check, I found my water neck is leaking... :headpop: :headpop: :headpop: SO, Saturday I'll have to dive back in and drain it down and remove then reinstall the neck... 89eliminator
next purchase is a new rear bumper, marcel?
mvusse
Nope. Next purchase is some steel to make a rear bumper. Something along the lines of the JCR rear bumper should net me 4" more ground clearance out back, but wrapping around the sides toward the wheels after cutting the bottom part off the bed sides. No more mini truck-like bumper dragging :D
AMCJeepMJ
Shiny new muffler on today. Got tired of the old one being rusted and noisy and the sound reverberating in the cab so the radio couldn't be heard. Now I can hear all the other squeaks, rattles, and grunts the truck makes... No cat or resonator. Just one big muffler and its quieter than my low mileage LeSabre.

dasbulliwagen
Finished making my rear bumper brackets to mount my XJ rear bumper. Mounted the bumper up and trimmed some more of the end caps to make it fit around the bed sides. I'm not sure if I like it yet or not, but then I got thinking, maybe this will allow me to use custom XJ rear bumpers. Who knows though. Here are a few pics, and the rest can be seen in my project thread " Comanche Limited ". Go there and let me know what you think.
