  1. 1988 Jeep Comanche Pioneer 4.0 auto 4x4 long bed 244,500 miles. I’ve been driving it daily and rescued it from a guy that never did anything with it. It fired right up after sitting for over a year and the body and unibody are in great shape. I couldn’t pass it up. It has a high pinion Dana 30 front, Dana 35 rear, 231, aw4
  2. I have been putting this off for a long time but have a lot of free time today so I'll go ahead and post this up. I got my truck in the summer of 2011. She is a 1989 Comanche Pioneer,4.0, 2wd, d35, auto on the column, with about 280000 miles on it. I really am just guessing about that mileage because the guy I bought it from at a pseudo car lot, really it was just a garage with cars out front, said the gauge cluster had been replaced and it actually had 140k miles on it rather than the near 240k the clock was showing. I was inclined to believe him because it ran very well, but then I realized ho hard it would have been to find a cluster with the shift indicator installed and other factors so I think the guy was full of sh*t. Back to the main event.... I've had the truck ever since and have done numerous things to it such as: New hoses Alternator Radiator Grill Fogs Temp gauge Bumper Tailgate Recovered seat Valve cover Wrecked it Replaced sheet metal after wreck 97+ nose New bed Head gasket Paint Numerous oil changes and plugs etc Open cooling system conversion Added an inverter Horns Power windows/locks Jeepsticker decals Remote start, with remote locks And a bunch of other stuff I know I'm forgetting. It has always been fun but I have had a few stumbles along the way. Hopefully the next post with all the pigs will paint a better picture that this one.
  3. Ok so I have an 89 jeep comanche 2wd with the 4.0 inline 6 automatic trans. I am thinking of buying this 86 jeep comanche 4wd with Gm 2.8l v6 automatic trans! Will the transfer out of that bolt up to my tans or no!
  4. Am I crazy for thinking about buying this Comanche? http://fayar.craigslist.org/cto/4476240457.html It looks awesome to me and worth the money, imho. I'm moving down that way and I'm tempted to buy it. The MJ I had last year was nothing like this one and my Cherokee is nothing like it either.
  5. Looking for a NICE 2wd Comanche (any year), must be automatic, long bed preferred, up to $5K. Must be with 250 miles of Greenville, South Carolina!! Or arrange to meet within reasonable distance. E-mail: earlhjr@yahoo.com with "Comanche" in the subject line
  6. I'm from Utica, Michigan and looking to do a 4wd conversion on my 1989 MJ. Would like to get: (all parts need to be 1991 or older) Aw-4 Automatic Transmission 4x4 Transfer Case Front driveshaft Rear driveshaft (MJ only) Front axle (D30) All these parts expect rear driveshaft can be from an XJ. PM me for any offers. Thanks!
  7. Hi guys, I've read the forums for a few years, but I haven't posted before. I'm in the middle of an engine & transmission swap in my 89 2 wheel drive pioneer mj, longbed. It came with a ba-10 from the factory and I'm upgrading it to an Aw-4. The original I-6 seized and I swapped in a 87 I-6. I have the new trans & engine in the truck now. Just have to connect everything up + buy some misc parts for the auto conversion. :wrench: Then I can crank it over and see how it sounds. :driving: I have a question about the speed sensor. Any advice appreciated. This: My Aw-4 came with an electric speed sensor but my truck uses a manual speed sensor. Is it really as simple as plugging the manual sensor & gear into the trans (maybe I need a new gear with a different number of teeth?), or am I missing something?
