As Much as I'd love to have a Jseries truck, I thought we were talking about what Jeep MIGHT make and sell. Not what they Made in the Past. Most pick ups today are just Plain old STUPID. I mean what is the Point of a truck that has a Box that is 5 feet or smaller? Why not just have an SUV where the back seat folds down? Not much you can do with the stupid Cargo area in ANY of these Truck/SUVs things anyhow. Infact My old YJ can carry as much! Image Not Found Dodge Chrysler needs to sell off Jeep, before they totally ruin it's reputation

Well fact is I have been voting for the third party candidate who had the best chance of getting the system to notice that there are disgruntled voters out there. In fact 2004 was the first time I ever voted for a rep/dem. And the only reason I voted the way I did was I was AFRAID of what the other IDIOT would be worse, (and they kicked Nadar off the Ballot in PA). The Powers in Washington don't give a Rats @$$ about Ron Paul or anyone who gets even 10-15% of the vote. They have the Majority of the American public BRAINWASHED. Face it BIG BUSINESS is pulling the strings of the politicians. BIG BUSINESS controls the media and thereby influences with the propaganda. I am now at the point where I think I might start voting for the communist party! And yes If Hillary gets elected, I to will move out of this country!

2.5L AMC 150 Gas Mileage
JeeperjohnfromPA replied to 1987Comanche's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I've got a 2.5, with a 5speed in my YJ. I was getting about 13mpg, then I installed a throttle body spacer, that pushed me up to 14mpg. I found that running smaller tires 225/70 r15, (usually run on 235/75 r15), gives me about another 2mpg on top of that. so best case I can get about 17mpg on my YJ, and thats with 271,000 miles on original motor. So I figure you should be able to get somewhere around that. -
All this CRAP about being politically correct is what is ruining this country. What's the matter with Offending some people occasionally? You know what happens when you try to PLEASE EVERYONE ALL THE TIME? you end up pissing off everyone.

Personally I think it looks like an over priced POS. Make me a dam pick up truck with an 8 foot long box, so I could actually use it for work, you stupid morons! How much more of Dodge/Chrysler can Jeep Survive! :headpop: Aggg That thing is just a Glorified SUV that would like to pretend it's a pick up truck! Go Buy a Chevy Apache or a Honda ridge Runner! WHY do all the American car companies feel they have to COPY each other and anything imported from japan? !        :headpop:

You are all so impressed with him :D I don't think he has a chance of winning, and if he does he'll have trouble getting the jerks in congress to work with him. I'm glad to see you all taking an active roll in the voting process, so don't get me wrong,,,,, It's just that  I'm so disgusted with the whole political system in this country. :headpop: I'm sick of the constant news coverage, I'm sick of the 'tell-a-marketing', or should I say 'Tell-a-Campaigning' messages that have already started. In frank I'm just plain disgusted. It's a shame but seems to me that our political system shouldn't be based on a system of He isn't as bad as the other guy. I have Voted in the past 5 presidential elections, and I have yet to see a candidate I actually thought would be a good president. Mind you thats my own opinion. To be honest I haven't made up my mind yet as to who I am going to vote for.

Well after checking out his website, I'm not very impressed.

Thats using yer Noggin!

Well here in PA you just need one plate on the back, But that doesn't stop IDIOTs from driving arround with NO plates, in fact I saw a nice new Toyota FJ cruiser, No plates, no temp tags no nothing but a BIG @$$ marine corps sticker in the back window. Doesn't matter, COPS in PA don't enforce tarffic laws unless you are on an Interstate, and (if and when they do) it's just for speeding.

That was pretty cool. :brows: As for the Music I thought they sucked when I was in high School, but I sorta grew to like them overtime. so

Ah, Yer all getting me Nostalgic for my old Mercury with the 351M V8 and the 4 barrel. :driving: SIGH I remember flying in that bad boy. :brows:

In all honesty I wish one candidate would actually give a $#!& about the country and the people who are it's citizens Democrat and Republican politicians are only concerned with promoting themselves and their political party. They All suck!

This looks awful familiar don't it?
JeeperjohnfromPA replied to LJRockstar's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I'm starting to wonder about these MJ tail lights????? I've heard that they are hard to find, so when I spotted a set at the U-pull-it yard, I grabbed them. Now I've seen taillights several times at that yard and I'm wondering why do people think these are so hard to find? should I be grabbing them EVERYTIME I see them?? -
Indeed, an informative video. I picked up a couple of pointers from it. Thanks

I answered this question over a year ago when I wanted to get a pick up truck. I didn't like ANYTHING the big three made. So I ended up with an MJ. "Why?" one might ask. The MJ is Easy to work on, and parts are readily available. And I could put a bench seat in it! As far as Dodge making any new jeep vehicles, forget it. The people at Dodge have thier heads so far up thier Butts it's disgusting. The Best thing that could happen to Jeep, would be if Dodge Chrysler sold them off to some company who has people with BRAINS at the board meetings!

I looked into buying an unassembled jeep from government surplus back in the 70s. It's a Bunch of Hype, never happend, least nothing you would realy want to buy. Army Jeeps were never shipped in crates or 55gal drums. As far as the government selling surplus jeeps for $50-75, this did happen, (according to my father), but what you got was an old USED military jeep that had been partialy stripped, and then cut up, (with a torch), crated and sold as scrap, (least thats what he told me). Most of the Jeeps that the government sold off as surplus, never made it to civilian hands, least not the ones that worked. Most were sold to state, and local governments, then fire departments and non-profit agencies. The BoyScouts actualy got there hands on quite a few old Millitary vehicles. The counsel I was in had a 3/4ton, couple Deuce-and-a-halfs and Jeeps, that they kept at the summer camps. Most old Jeeps that are owned by civilians today were most likely bought from one of those non-profit organizations.

Hey Pete, I've an idea for a Sticky for the forums. How about a sticky where people who are considering buying a MJ could get some advice. Advice on what to look for, what to look out for, and what not to worry about. Perhaps we could help would-be MJ owners, from making some of the mistakes that some of us have made? I know I'd tell people to check the frame rails for rust, where the front of the rear leaf springs mount to the frame, (for starters).

Will the dealer even take a 17 year old vehicle as trade in? I asked how much the dealer would give me for my 1991 TJ, back in 2002, They said they wouldn't take anything more then 5 years old regardless of the condition. Mind you thats a new car dealer, the only used cars they sell are from people turning in leases, and the 5years or under vehicles that people trade in when they purchase a new vehicle.

I saw a Stock Rubicon Limited about a year ago, talked with the owner a bit. I really liked it, but as far as Jeeps go though I'm one of those "purest" who like them pretty much stock, well mostly. :brows:

Sort of Ironic, what I said about overlooking the obvious. ;) Glad to hear that you figured it out.

I know the feeling, Years ago my YJ was in the shop, (the last time it was ever). The jerks were supposed to redo the oil pan gaskets, and rear main seal. well the actual BOZO who put it on the lift raised it up so high that he pushed my hardtop right up into something that snapped a whole in the roof. Worse yet, they didn't tell me or anything! they just patched it with some fiberglass bondo, and did a lousey job too! when I discovered it, and went back to complain, the owner of the shop denied it, (he must have know because he didn't even ask anyone at the shop). I told him I would Sue him, he said "Go ahead". I called a Lawyer, he said unless I had a Picture before it went into the shop showing it was ok, that we would not have a case. I went back to the shop and gave the guy one last chance to make it right, he told me to "get lost", and not exactly so nicely. :headpop: I won't tell you how I got my satisfaction, but lets just say I think the deductible on his insurance would have been more then throwing me a few bucks to calm me down! :brows: Not that I am saying you should do something like that.

Hummer is at it again, "Borrowing" Jeep designs
JeeperjohnfromPA replied to hemi_comanche's topic in The Pub
Hummer, hah! Another Fancy SUV that you'll never see with one speck of dirt/mud on it! Yes looks like a cross breed of an FJ cruiser. What will be the price tag on this? I bet ya it will cost more then a Rubicon! and there will ALWAYS BE ONE THING IT'S LACKING< 4 simple letters, J E E P :D -
The POR stuff works god enough, but it's QUITE a BIT EXPENSIVE. Check a few local auto parts stores, there are other manufacturers of similar products that work fairly well, but cost a FRACTION of what POR costs.
