My MJ sits at about 6" of lift. I know where I can get shocks pretty cheap but ods are they don't list shocks for a Comanche with a 6" lift. Anyone know what other vehicle shocks would fit? Also I am thinking of going with a shock convertion up front so they don't need to be the stud type shocks.

Snapped a side pic today. Not a great pic but you get the idea. Once I spray some color on the truck it should look pretty factory. Image Not Found

I took the whole dash out in my XJ. There are screws at the base of the windshield and a couple bolts on the underside of the dash. Just an FYI... I took the top screws out with the windsheild removed. With the windshield still in I bet its a PITA. You will have to remove the gauge bezel, gauge cluster, lower dash panel, disconnect all the wires and heater controls before you can get the upper dash off. You might even have to drop the steering colum.

I did see it. That is why I am showing mine now. I have had the parts on the truck for months now but was going to wait to unveil it until my build was done. The ebay truck prompted me to show it off now. I am really not into the whole comestic thing. I just wanted to do something different. I have wanted to do the swap since the new style XJ came on the market. I was going to swap the doors also but this is a trail beater, not a show truck. I will be posting more pics when my SOA is finished.

Just finished up the front of my 88 MJ today. Installed the front nose and fenders off a 99 XJ. I also installed a MORE front bumper w/Ramsey winch. Image Not Found

This is the Rocky Road kit installed. They do not use U bolts at all but instead grade 8 bolts. As for kicking out you can see in the pic the new upper perch locks into the lower perch soit isn't going anywhere. That is the problem I found with the D44. Not only is the axle tube bigger but the perches are solid steel (unlike the D35 stamped perches) sothe new upper perch would have to be shortened and there is no way for it to lock in to the lower perch.

I used this setup to do my spring over and I have no complaints the parts are top notch I got this same kit, looks beefy. Just an FYI, There website says some mods required if you havs a D44 (one of them being welding the perches on the axle). If you have a D44, don't bother with this kit. It would be much cheaper and less work to just weld on new perches.

Try shrink tube or just sleeve it with rubber vacuum line.

X2 I lifted my XJ 3 times before I got to 6" of lift. Go as big as you can for see yourself wanting to go. That way you will only have to lift it twice. First.... To the hight you for see being the limit. Second.... To the actual limit, when you relize the old limit wasn't high enough. :D

I am about to do my drivers side floor and I am using this.... It is the floor out of a 92 XJ. Just some surface rust. Only about 40 more spot welds to drill out and I am good to go. :D -
COUGH SPUTTER where the HEll do you live that girls are named SCOTT? sheesh i though I lived close to alabama. Yeah.... girls named Scott? Did she have an Adams apple? :D

I was wondering what looked funny with the front of that MJ. You nailed it.

I think you just have a bad leaf pack. The same thing happened to me when I replaced my rear shackles. The truck sat fine when I started. I did one side at a time jacking up the truck, removing the old shackles and installing the new ones, not tightening the bolts. When I was done both sides and the truck was back on the ground I tightened the shackles and the truck still is sagged to one side in the rear. I think it is just from flexing out the old worn springs with the jack.

I ran Rusty's short arms on my XJ and they are now on my MJ. They are beefy and I have no complaints.

Sorry.... that is what happens when I post before I have my morning coffee.

I have looked into doing an 8.8 and it is not just buying the axle and putting it in. Most if not all I have come across need brakes. If the hardware is not missing it is worn. Also, so what if you do not currently have 4.10 gears up front? Then you need to swap those out also to match the rear. As I stated in my first post (titled MJ D44 what's it worth? not 8.8 or D44?) the D44 I am getting is the same ratio I currently have, has good brakes and is a dirrect swap.

I think this is the best answer thus far. I am not a hardcore wheeler and I doubt I will ever brake the D44 (heck I am yet to brake my welded D35) Not to mention the D44 is a dirrect bolt in. no fabbing or adapters required.
