Good Fix Method for Rusted Through Bed Skins?
TNT replied to 89MJComanche's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Use some door skins as patch panels. Or get some Hannemann boxsides Image Not Found Image Not Found Image Not Found Image Not Found Image Not Found -

He did almost a whole victory lap dragging both of them around.

Its about 1/2" higher then the seat bottom hieght. If you remove the cupholder it should clear the hump without any real issues. The total height is about 6" in the front.

X 3. Stay off the snowmobile trails. I do wheel on the street when the snow is deep. Once the big snow piles get hard they can be a blast to climb and play on. Everytime in snows I drive right next to the curb so the plow guy knows where the edge of the road is in front of my house. If there is 5" or more snow one the roads I'll be out driving. I drive sane for the most part and stay on the road. If I get busted for a 4 wheel drift it's a risk I take. I never screw around in traffic. A couple of years ago I did some mall crawling in Racine. The only parking was way out but they had some 10'+ tall piles of snow that where about 100' long and closer to the door. I drove up one end and parked on the other. The mall security was waiting for me when I came out... They wanted to ticket me, but I was parked above a parking spot. They said you're stuck up there anyway. I said B.S. and drove down in front of them. I turned around and went back over the pile again. They had a stock XJ. I went back and convinced them to try it. They made it with only a couple of back-ups. They drove over and said I made their day. :D The next winter there where signs about staying off the snow piles.

My guess is ComancheClub decals.

I would like to swap a 340 Mopar engine into mine with fuel injection. It would be a pretty easy swap. A 351W would be harder because of the size. I would hate to loose fuel injection...

He may have a cane or be on crutches, but I bet he could still teach you a thing or two(probably a whole bunch more then that)..... :D

That very close to what my MJ will look like with the cab extended for 2dr XJ doors. Mine will have a slightly longer cab since I'm keeping the back of the MJ cab and just making the door openings 9" longer. It will have a custom bobbed and dovetailed bed thou. :brows: More like this.

I have a 242 case with a non-disconnect front axle and can shift from 2 hi to 4 hi to 4 fulltime at speeds up to 70mph(I never tried it going faster). All it takes is a blip or two on the throttle after shifting. It shifts worse at speed below 20mph, it tends to take quite a bit longer. If you have a disconnect front axle with a 231 the above doesn't apply to you. I prefer to shift from hi to lo range at about a slow walking pace in neutral, it slips right in.

Nice buy. I would have to do some mods to it. It would a be nice for a prerunner type build.

It's looking very sweet. How much do the boxsides flare out for tie coverage? A picture from the back showing the whole inside of the bed would be great. I plan on mounting my rear shocks to the top of the axle and maybe building some guards to protect the shocks from getting damaged. You're going to have a bad a$$ rig when you are done with it.

Don't know what my front & rear end ratio's are
TNT replied to paulsaw's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I would think a Dana 44 rear axle swap would be a better investment then doing anything to the Dana 35. If you would ever sell it it would be worth more. Either that or swap the 44 and keep the 35 around to swap back in if you sell it. You can always sell the 44 to someone and get your money back. You'll gain better rear brakes besides the having a stronger axle assembly. -
I like the lack of skid plates too....

If you know any local Jeep nuts with a welder you can probably have some made for the price of steel and beer....

A welder is nice to have. I'm pretty well set-up, I just lack a tubing bender and notcher.
