I added led tails, cargo, and front marker lights. Nothing exotic just changed out bulbs. I also go my 7 pin trailer harnes mounted, not fully wired. I am awaiting the arrival of more parts in the next few days. Maybe I can remember to take some pics this time......

Before Rona came along I was a residential framer. Starting a roofing job on monday. Roofing isn't my favorite but i like it better than sitting at home. I have always worked with my hands. I spun wrenches for a number of years after school, then I discovered construction and love to build. Framing and concrete are my favorites but I am not really opposed to any sort of manual labor.

Finally found one...Now it has a new floor.

oh boy oh boy I am super excited. Apparently all I had to do was buy the wife a pop up camper. I got the approval and ordered a set of General Spring Military Wrap springs. New ford f 150 shackles. RE 3.5" front springs. New front spring isolators. Just waiting on the parts to arrive. I might have slipped in a few other goodies too...... -
The duct tape you see is probably original. Its a good idea to go through the harness and fix these connections. There are crimp connector from the factory and should be replaced with a good solder joint and heat shrink tubing. The fittings in the radiator are usually for a built in automatic trans cooler. If you have a manual tranny they would have just been left vacant from the factory. Are you looking for the temp switch or just wondering why there are connectors missing on the radiator?

Is there any way to tell what wheels these would have been from the factory? Just curious, I recived the truck with a set of steel rims on it. "WJN 15" Aluminum Wheels"

You may not want to use a set screw in there. I believe the plastic pins are there to allow it to collapse in the event of a head on collision. with out the plastic the steering shaft becomes a giant harpoon aimed right at the driver. Might not be bad to use a really low grade bolt, but I am not an expert..... -
How to Install RENIX Factory Cruise Control
watchamakalit replied to Blaine.D's topic in MJ Tech: DIY Projects and Write-Ups
Awesome thread. I am prepping to tackle this myself. I still need the brake switch and a lower speedo cable. Edit: Apparently I also need the bracket to mount the brake vacuum switch. Any idea where I can source one?- 17 replies

This weekend was an interesting on for the MJ. Started out like any other friday morning but by 1pm I was elbow deep in my buddys excursion. He came in my drive doing 2mph and what sounded like 50,000 rpm. We new the transmission was getting close but neither of us was prepared for the sudden death. So the MJ had to sleep outside for the weekend but it became more fun on monday morning. I woke up at the but crack of dawn to take the MJ, with the transmission loaded the night before and strapped securely in the bed. Drove to my buddys house about 20mins south and picked him and a fresh cup of coffee up. Drove approximately 30mins north to the local tranny shop to exchange his junk for a fresh rebuild. We pull into the tranny shop parking lot and I parked the MJ. We climb out and I just about crapped my drawers. There under my baby is a puddle the size of a large wheelbarrow tub in the middle of what was a dry parking spot. After a very short investigation we realized the torque coverter had fallen from his trans and turned my MJ into a bit of a rolling, Mercron filled swimming pool. Boy was I relieved. Long story short we made it back to the shop with a trans that functions as it should and my buddy was back on the road about 2pm yesterday. The best part about it all is I get all day today to wash out the bed and the rest of the truck. But thats ok it was due for a bath. I will try to remember to take some pics of before and after....

That helps a ton. Now to get mine in and work on the install. .....

Butt weld. Forget the overlap idea I have tried that on MJs before. You will end up trapping moisture between the 2 pieces and simply continuing the rust cycle. Butt welding isn't that hard. There are some great tips and tricks that can be learned online for free that will help you a bunch. Let me finish this by saying, I am not a body guy by any means. I have just attempeted several methods of metal repair previously and can tell you what won't work.

eaglescout526 do you have any pics that will show the vacuum harness layout for the cruise? I think I have all my parts collected but I have done some head scratching over the vacuum harness.

Is the top one the connector for an overhead console? Those look similar to that. Although I'm just going off memory. Not sure of the other one. I have 2 sets of gear wrenches that I purchased many years ago when they first came out. Only trouble I have had with them is wearing out (not breaking) the ratchet mechanism in a couple of the common wrenches. Ive never managed to break one and I havent been gentle. I really don't underatand how I ever accomplished anything before owning them. Probably some of my favorite tools. I can't say for certain but I'm sure someone makes an adapter and honestly if someone is in the buisiness of building trucks of this caliber probably has the resources to manufacture one. Probably pretty well I have a 904 in my co behind a 258. don't see why it wouldnt work behind the 4.0. Obviously not factory. My build: https://r.tapatalk.com/shareLink?url=https://comancheclub.com/topic/8033-finally-found-onenow-it-has-a-new-floor/&share_tid=8033&share_fid=53169&share_type=t -
