Well, found out today that factory fog lights will not hold up to being vibrated and shaken by a cummins... The bracket broke off at the housing. Stupid plasti. O well. Good thing they were free! Other side is starting to crack too

Hitch plates(and complete hitches if you need one) coming very soon! I promise! Definitely interested in a hitch. Honestly, aside from a number of replacement parts already named, I would love to have a readily available truck topper that actually fit. The one company that makes a folding soft topper only makes them for the SWB trucks. I would love one of those, but I have a LWB...FTL. I bought the steel and laser time today. So I'm in line to get it cut out at work. Hopefully in a week or 2! It cost a little more than I was expecting and hopefully shipping won't be bad and I can stick with the original price I have in my head...be patient. Ha.

Ran into a problem...started blowing white (or blueish) smoke a couple days ago. Thought it was a fuel problem but we swapped injectors and fuel pump off the other motor and it didn't really make a difference... Don't know what the next move is gonna be...valve seals maybe. We dropped the exhaust to see if there was oil in it but none...sooooo.. not absolutely sure. And we've asked a few diesel mechanics around and they haven't seen it run, but they don't know for sure either scratch that. we got it. the new injection pump just needed to be ran for a bit. let it idle and then drove it a couple times and it cleared up. this pump is a lot better running than the old one. throttle response is better. governor is set higher i think, before 2200 rpms and that was about it. now 2400 is the highest i got it and it could probably go more. so much better shifting it at 2200 instead of 1950 or 2000 rpms. its peppier now.

krustyballer16 replied to uncleben03's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I've tried to contact him and he's hard to get a response back from .And he never fully answered my question or helped me. Guess I'll have to try again... -
In a couple weeks I'll have the hitch plates lasered out and you ormyself can build one...for well under $1000.Who would spend that much on a hitch? Wow.

A subtle pin stripe along the lower body line goes a long way. Silver and gray hockey stick Pioneer strips would look amazing too. I think about putting the hockey sticks back on but instead of "pioneer"put "Comanche" with the cummins "c" as the first letter. But the guy on eBay that does them hasn't got back with me yet. And that's been probably 6 months ago. order the decal from him if you can, that's the hard part to get. Then just don't apply the Pioneer wording and go to a local vinyl sign shop and have them make you what ever you want in the same font and dimensions as the "pioneer" wording was. The guy on eBay can do custom stuff I want, I asked him but I want him to send color samples so I can match them to mine.and the local shops around here suck .That's why I'm not having them do the tailgate letters .Looks like they were cut out with a butter knife. But I'll figure something out .

I think it's great! Needs more silver to even things out though. Perhaps the tailgate letters and a few other silver accents? I don't know if I can find someone to color match the letters to the silver. That was the original plan but I'm not sure yet. And I don't know what else I would do in silver... Remove the light bar. They always looked out of place even when they were in style. Now it looks even more out of date with the late model updates. What wheels are you going with? Willy Not gonna take the light bar out,I know it doesn't really function much as a roll bar. I've got too much time and money in it. And I'm keeping the same wheels. I love the turbines.

couple things left to do: courtesy lights- we had problems with them before not working quite right. could be the door switches... speedo light quit working so gotta pull the dash :( install a red indicator light to show that the parking brake is on. try to fix small oil leaks. get the damn sunroof to quit leaking!!!!!!!!!!!!!! find small rattles on inside and try to fix them. build a hitch. (yes ill have the page up soon so they're available for purchase) relocate washer fluid reservoir.... with the hood shocks installed the reservoir can't bolt in the stock location. (we don't think, it is gonna be VERY close) any body else have the redline hook shocks with the reservoir in the stock location with no problems? buy 33" tires so my speedo and odometer are right! i want to be able to figure out fuel mileage. clean up tail lights. wire up fog lights in the bumper caps (wasnt planning on putting them in the bumper but had an extra set laying around so we put em in) (( i was going to buy another set of KC lights (4x6) and mount them on the bumper like stock, and i still might but not right now)) find a spot to "mount" my block heater plug in. buy the JEEP decals for the tailgate. tint the windows after showing everybody i could think of that would be interested in it, only a few like my color choice on the roll bar. everybody thinks it should have been black because the silver stands out too much against the blue. THAT WAS THE POINT! what are your opinions?

Ended up ordering a pro comp stabilizer today .Looks way better quality! -
Can't get the power locks to work on the new doors... Rewiring them all and can't get them. You don't need the "keyless entry" thing out of an overhead console do you? Or is there a trick or something we've over looked rewiring these new doors?

2 junk rustys steering stabilizers....
krustyballer16 replied to krustyballer16's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
They want me to pay the $24 difference. NOPE. I told them to just give me a store credit that I'll probably never use and I'll buy someone else's product. They kept pushing me to warranty it out shadier the same part... -
2 junk rustys steering stabilizers....
krustyballer16 replied to krustyballer16's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Been talking to Rusty's thru email. They can't give me my money back. They could either warranty it out again or give me their more expensive monotube stabilizer or store credit. I went for the monotube one. I don't know if I'll use it though. They started to blame it on me putting it together wrong and forgetting the spacer they provide. I sent a picture of how I had it with the spacer in correctly. He said that other people have forgotten it and when they turn it binds and pops out. Then later he said not many people have had problems...uh..what?! Then I told him if people are putting it together wrong or forgetting the spacer then instructions should be provided! So we'll see what I get out of it and when... -

So what is the best stabilizer for around $50 or so? -
so when i bought my 4.5" lift for my truck it came with the "race series" steering stabilizer. and within about 500 miles or so it did this... ball came out of the socket i drove it that way for a while. then i called and got a replacement. put it on right before i took my truck to paint. we winched it in and out of the garage a couple times and onto the trailer then off the trailer and around the painter's. then, with literally less than 1 mile on it, this happened again.. think ill call rustys and see if i can just get my money back to buy another brand... has this happened to anybody else? or am i doing something wrong?
-
brought her home from the painters today had to throw her in the garage before it started raining. the sunroof wasnt in... theres a couple runs that didnt buff out that are very easy to spot and a couple light, thin spots. but o well. the rest is beautiful and its painted! and while unhooking the battery cables from underneath i noticed this... this is the 2nd rustys steering stabilizer i have put on and that has done this... the ball came out of the socket. original one. the 1st one had maybe 500 miles on it and it came out then i just drove it like that cuz it wouldnt stay together and finally got the 2nd one. this 2nd one has literally less than 1 mile on it... since i put it on it has been winched in and out of the garage a couple times and onto the trailer and then rolled around at the paint shop. then we drove it onto and off the trailer today.. so i don't know what to do. monday I'm going to call rustys and ask for my money back so i can buy another brand...
