HITCH PLATES!
krustyballer16 replied to krustyballer16's topic in Vendors- members making products for MJs
but for the price of that piece i can buy all the square tubing for a hitch... they sell them at rural king or tractor supply for like $15. that was my thing,...trying to keep cost as low as possible to help everybody out. a little bit, and i mean just a little bit, of filing and the ball slips right in. Hey Kursty, awesome product!! Per the above, check with your steel supplier... You should be able to get whole lengths (20-24') of 2-1/2" x 2-1/2" x .238" "Flash Removed" A500 tube. Cut that to short lengths for the reciever instead of using standard 2-1/2 square that you're using now. It is a bit more expensive than standard tubing, but the price difference when only using it for the 6" long reciever shouldn't add much to the overall cost, and hitches would fit much better... The "Flash Removed" tubing is actually made just for receivers, so the ID is slightly over 2" and the corners are a little tighter. Even the solid shank hitches fit! :) Sooo...the steel supplier that the company I work for can't get this tubing. We couldn't even find anybody around that can get it. And ita too expensive to order it anywhere else ($15-$17 a foot) so I guess everybody will just have to man up and buff the seam out of their hitch when they get it. (Seriously takes about 5 min with a big file) -

Who makes the strongest rocker rails?
krustyballer16 replied to Paul Bruchal's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
You're getting the first prototype since it was your idea to me. Ha. And it will be a couple months until I'm moved into my new garage and until I can spend money on materials. Cash is a little tight right now with all the stupid bank cost and stuff. And it's slider and hitch package. Set of sliders and a hitch. For the people still needing a hitch... -

give me a couple months and i should have some SWB and LWB sets made. similar to nates4x4. i acquired a very accurate diagram for them. but i have some changes id like to make to my sets. (also will have xj sets too) and could probably do a slider/ hitch packaged deal! -

I've got 2 sets of 2x3 sliders made up for xjs but according to the interwebs, xjs have a 12" shorter wheelbase than swb mjs... Darn. -

Basically the only thing I did that nobody else could do, that was such a big deal, was get the plates cut in quantity and quality. And with the help of, I think, terrawombat (sorry if that wasn't who it was) for giving me the template they made, I only had maybe an hour of my personal time with having it drawn up, test plate lasered out, test fit on my truck, re-engineered just a tiny bit and a 2nd test plate cut out. And an hour to cut out 20 sets of plates... Anybody that woulda had access to a $650,000 laser could've had them cut out just as easily But thanks everybody for all the support! I'm ready to make more for whoever still wants one but I need "pre-orders" before I pay to have them cut out, I can't front that cost out of pocket then have people back out... Shelbyluvv also sent me a drawing for MJ swb (and lwb) sliders to look at over the next few months to see what I can do about those... I'm down to try anything now that I know I have the support of all you guys! -

It was sandblasted too for $80. I thought it was a good deal. Unfortunately I didn't get rid of the seam on the inside because I didn't realize it was necessary. Now my hitch won't slide into the receiver. :( I took my dremel and ground a matching groove into the hitch, but it still won't fit. The seam doesn't seem to be the problem. It looks like the powder coat makes it too narrow, because it is not wide enough anymore for the ball to slide in. I guess I should have considered the fit before coating it, not sure what my next step will be. You'll just have to buff a little off the ball and the inside of the receiver won't last very long anyways so you could buff it too if you can. I didn't have any problem with the thickness of the powder on mine and I told them to make it extra thick. But even if I did have to buff some down or off the hitch it was free so I wouldn't've complained. -

That's a good one! But the hitches would cost more with this cost. And I couldn't stick them on bate metal since everyone has to paint them .Then if II'd send them out not stuck on half the people wouldn't stick them on after paint so that's a waste. And I'm trying to keep these as fairly priced and affordable for everyone. But probably next year sometime once I'm settled into my new garage/workshop I'll hopefully have more MJ bolt ons being made. :) -

Thanks! And $80 isn't that bad. Was it sandblasted too? And if you got rid of the seam on the inside the thickness of the powder coat shouldn't make a difference when sliding the ball in. Mine is satin black too. Matches everything else perfect. -
Indeed! That'll have to be a project for next year. I'm in the process of buying a house with a big enough garage (40'x40', 12' ceiling) so I can do all the builds I want. I've still got the Comanche Chinook Camper to do too... Just did a 2nd gear boost launch (15psi boost, max) and it was roughly 12 seconds to 60 mph.

It pulls my 18' car hauler with my side by side and quads just fine on flat ground but going up some of the big hills around here it struggled. That's why the pump is being turned up. So I have a few more rpms. It probably has some to do with gearing and tire size right now. But I don't have any complaints really. It's awesome to drive. I still haven't had it dyno'd but I'd like to sometime. I'm thinking about building my other motor and putting it in a lowered 2wd Comanche and making it "fast" 2 turbos, more fuel, injector work. It'll be fun and different.

Thank you. Post up some pictures when you can. -
about 10 minutes. Lol. But I'm not quite sure. Probably 10 or 11 seconds. I know my Cherokee is "a lot" faster than it and everyone says they'll do 0-60 in 9 seconds stock. I don't even know if I could hit 60 in a 1/4. I've been wanting to take it to the drag strip... Ha.

That's what I didn't know .But that's right. Bigger tires, lower rpms. And I'm having the pump turned up so ita governed at about 2800 rpms.

wow. thank you! its not quite as perfect as i originally wanted but its pretty close. anybody can do it. UPDATE: ive sent my extra injection pump and injectors off my other motor to be gone through. my fuel pump needed rebuilt because it wasnt pushing enough fuel and the truck was blowing white smoke. and i had the 4 injectors tested and only one of them barely popped open. the other 3 didnt pop at all! so they are being rebuilt too. about $900 but itll be worth it. should get better power and fuel economy. and just a little info on my rpms and gearing with current tire set up. 235s with 3.73 gears. governed at 2500 rpms 1st gear- only used when taking off while pulling a trailer start off in 2nd 3rd and 4th gear get shifted through pretty quick 5th gear- 45-73 mph at 2500 rpms...topped out. so I'm kinda worried about how itll be when i put 33s on it... anybody go any opinions?

Feeling bad about how much $$ you have in your MJ?
krustyballer16 replied to RochesterMJ's topic in The Pub
You could buy the ugly wrangler and a real truck for cheaper than that... And then build both pretty heavily -

"pipe bending formula, length before and between bends"
krustyballer16 replied to krustyballer16's topic in The Pub
I did. That won't work for what I'm wanting. And i don't want to have to draw out what I'm doing every time... -
so i just bought an EZ Bend air-hydraulic tubing bender. i know how to make bends and everything with it but what i REALLY need to know and know how to calculate is where to set my bend, well set my die in my length of tubing to get my bend to come out where i need it to. i don't want to just bend a bunch of angles and them piece them together. kind of hard to explain what I'm asking for... say i need a 90* bend 10" from the end of my tubing and then another 90* 20" outside to outside from that... I'm bending 1"x14 gauge tubing with a 5" die... and how do i figure all this on 3/4"-2" dies? I'm going to start building doors and bumpers for my side by side once i figure all this out...

I found some small ones for a bi turbo Saab for good price brand new but I think we're gonna go with something skinny and long to fit under the radiator. But this all might be a project for next year because I'll have go repipe everything and buy and EGT gauge and I've got plenty of other projects going on right now and thru winter. Well see

Figured out my brake problem a long time ago... The rod inside the brake booster was too long. Swapped it for a new one, still too long. Finally found another new one where the rod was the right length. No problems since. I turned the fuel up 1/2 turn.It went up 40 rpms to 910 at idle. I can notice the power gain but it's not much. Blows quite a bit more smoke now though. We turned it up to help gain more power for when we pull my trailer but it wasn't enough to help with that. Once it gets more miles and broke in we will mess with it and fine tune it more We're trying to find an intercooler for it now. We were told there is a small one that would fit perfectly in my truck but have yet to find it... This past weekend was the scheid diesel extravaganza so I took my truck and put it in the show n shine. Didn't win either day we were there but I guarantee we had the most people stop and look and talk to us about my motor. We learned a lot and people learned a lot from us. It was a good time.
