Here is a good example. The first sound is a low tone, the other sound is both a low and high together. http://youtu.be/rYYTPZlmGB4?t=4m40s I currently have only a single low tone (my truck started life as a a base model, only came with one horn) and it makes about the least threatening sound possible. Sounds a lot like the Road Runner, to be honest. As Eagle said you'll want both.

Driveway Ornament To Daily Driver: 7 Years!
Minuit replied to Minuit's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
Insert Chapter Title Here: March-April 2014 Several weeks ago I cleaned out the neutral safety switch because my reverse lights didn't work more often than they did and I would occasionally not be able to start it in park. Here it is right after I got it out. You won't be able to really tell what kind of shape it's in from the outside. Fully disassembled. It was nasty and the contacts were essentially glued to the wiper, which explains the lack of reverse light function perfectly. All cleaned up and shinier. Make sure to give the copper parts a quick scuff with fine sandpaper to shine them up. Make sure you keep track of the several small parts in there. A new switch is $$$. Make sure to use grease. I did this over two days but I really didn't have to. I started at about 3:30 PM and had the switch out within 90 minutes on a very poor surface. The hardest part was finding the correct tool to cut the zip ties from the bottom. Slim wire cutters work best. While I was cutting the zipties to get the NSS out this fell on me. I'm pretty sure this was chrome the last time I saw it. Curiously, it matched the valve cover bolts. Gave them a quick tightening (they like to work themselves loose on my engine) and it's back in the toolbox good as new. I had these laying around. I decided to fix that problem. Yeah, that's good. The ones on there right now are parts house cheapies - I'll get a nice set later. This was more of a proof of concept, as I intend on acquiring a factory install kit. All of the wiring is temporary and can be undone easily. This is how the interior looks right now. That eyesore of a switch won't be there for long. I hate it when my switches don't match. At least I didn't drill into my dash, right? In somewhat related news, the MJ (and my family) will soon have a new home. You have no idea how happy I am about this - I've done all of my previous work on a horrible gravel driveway. Moving means my poor pavement queen has to do some work :( That's a couple of old, crappy bedframes. I believe everything combined weighed about 400 pounds. ...however, my poor pavement queen will be getting some significant upgrades soon! ... so I made a spreadshet. Full size version here. I'm aiming at a $5000 budget (actual value of the truck be damned!) to finish the first stage of the build so some of this stuff probably won't get done. I've already ruled out a 4x4 conversion. That's all I've done recently so have some pictures! Total Expenditures since January 2014: $210.44 Junkyard: $105 total Oil filter adapter stuff: $8 Upper radiator hose: $15 Headlights: $30 eBay: $15 Junkyard Parts: Door panels: 1988 Jeep Cherokee Limited Front bumper guards: 1992 Jeep Cherokee Sport Windshield wiper motor: 1998 Jeep Cherokee Sport Tailgate handle: 1989 Jeep Comanche Mud flaps: 1987 Jeep Comanche Maintenance Status: Last oil change: 6qt generic 10W-30, 150,580, next change will be Rotella T6 or similar Had to go back to ethanol gas due to lack of funds. Today was a long stressful day but your comment made me smile ear to ear. I really appreciate that my truck had that kind of effect on you and I'm honored that your first post on the board was here. If you check out my build thread (link in my signature) you'll see some more current pics and my progress recently. Your truck is pretty slick too.

Also curious about the Banks particularly with the late style intake.

I've heard they are 194/168 too but I probably shouldn't have spoken because I haven't pulled any myself.. Best way to find out is to pull the bulbs then match them up.
-
My thoughts exactly. I see a lot of redneck stuff every day and this tops the list for this week.
-
Looks like it.

the dimmer function of the switch still works yes but if you turn it all the way like you're gonna click the B pillar lights on, before that click the gauges go dark untill you click it or dial it down a hair, and the 74s, can you get them at any normal auto part store? Redwolf That's an important detail that suggests the switch dimmer as being the problem. In that case, I'm with the others. Pull the switch and check for burnt up wiring while you're at it. A new switch is $13 on RockAuto. Edit: You should be able to get 74 bulbs pretty much anywhere you look.
-
If the dimmer function of the switch still works it's probably not the problem. I believe the bulbs are 74s - not all that hard to get to.
-
You have tried the dimmer on the headlight switch, correct?

99% sure you're referring to the fuel pump ballast resistor. It was added in 1988 as part of a "recall" to reduce fuel pump noise. It can be eliminated with no ill effects. A quick search is showing that 88-93 is the same part. Cherokees will have it also.

What were the noises like? Loud clunking?
-
I'm curious as to what those seats came from.
-
Looks like another hack job. This kind of thing ain't easy but if I were to do all of the work to do that I'd want it to be perfect.
-
Looks like you're on top of the common things. IIRC the 88 dash clock has a bulb for a backlight - check there first. Love this truck, keep it up.
-
You might already know this, but the adjustment screws can be found easily online. Like $2 a piece.
-
Very, very few. Pretty much the "best" MJ you could get. also - lol at "simplistic rear-wheel drive"

Likely nothing - just shares the same code as the Islander trim level for the Wrangler.

What year is the Eliminator? Most of the stuff will swap directly over.

$3500 would be slightly less ridiculous if it had a better rear bumper and tailgate. If they didn't go through the effort of cleaning it before taking pics you don't know (and probably will find out at the worst time) what else they didn't do. People who don't keep their trucks clean usually don't treat them too nicely mechanically and otherwise. That said, it is in the north so it's surprising that the rockers and wheel wells haven't started to go yet. That said, it is well set-up and would make a great driver. I'm sure there's someone out there who would pay $3500 so starting at that price is understandable for the seller.

Dude, you're a bad@$$. Seems like it's a never ending adventure. That thing has a crap ton of km's on it.
