Benefits of the 97+ swap?
shelbyluvv replied to Jaxso32's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
The cool factor of having the newer interior in an old truck is the only advantage over using a 96 donor. There is no reason to go through all the work, it's a personal choice. -
Problems with non-Jeep vehicle. 93 Nissan Sentra

Bad fuel pressure regulator letting the fuel drain back into the tank. Try to double cycle the key to prime the rail before cranking the engine. -

Correct John, it could easily fit in the rear tire area as an auxiliary tank though. -

I have a TJ pump, tank and gauge cluster in my truck. It can be done but is a bit of a pain to do. -
the wheels are ok... The tires are great. I had them for a long time on a WJ. They wear like iron on the street but will chunk in the rocks very quickly. Keep them rotated or you will get DW after about 4500 miles. All in all they are a good setup.

I got back out here in late June. Thanks everyone for the thoughts. I went today and took all of my stuff out of her and said my goodbyes. It was harder than I thought it was going to be. Hopefully this new truck will be as good as she was.

4x4 Conversion with NP242. Clarification needed.
shelbyluvv replied to Minuit's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Your list is spot on. I have a 242 in both of my trucks. Even the V8 truck. My V8 has a 46RH trans and it was a long input 249. I took the input out of the 249 and put it in my 242. Easy days as blown 249s are a dime a dozen. https://kevinsoffroad.com/249-to-242-swap-instruction-guide is a great resource -
I called and was told without absolute proof there is nothing I could do. I was advised that an @$$ whooping was in order. I love these small town Sheriff's. My local boys are an amazing bunch of cops. Our house is on a dirt road with a huge dry lake bed right behind it. When it rains it turns into a slippery, slimy mud slide. Marines and civilians come from all over to play on it. The Sheriffs will come out and watch and if they have their trucks will get down with us. Not everything is bad in California. I actually love it here. I just hate their gun laws and how liberal it is.

I for some reason kept full coverage on it after I paid it off 2 years ago. The insurance company is paying me a pretty decent price for the truck, right at $27,000. Not bad for a truck that has been rear ended once and the Car Fox shows it as well. I was going to fight for more money but I have to get moving on the Long Bed Mega Cab. The shop in Utah is going to do a 100% EGR, DPF delete, H&S Tuner and new 4" exhaust on the truck for free. That is about $1500 worth of parts not including labor. They have already taking it to a 3rd party dealership for a check up and fluid changes.

96 XJ with a hallowed cat. The CEL comes on every few days. -
That is nice! The amount and quality of work put into that is ridiculous. I like it

Everyone I know who plays in the desert has went back to the stock setup with a ZJ HD clutch. Dual and triple fans just could not move as much air as the stock setup.

Yes, I have a list of stuff I want off my old truck. Shell, shocks, seats, Optimas, CB, brake controller and my Cummins badges

I don't want a salvaged title on my truck. We located an 08 long bed Megacab we are working a deal on.

I have been in the Marine Corps for almost 24 years. I have seen my share of great young men and women. I have also seen some I would not even consider calling a man or women. Not all 20 somethings are bad. Finding a grown man in his 20s in SoCal is few and far between. They out there, but they are as rare as a green 92 Eliminator. Those of you who are adults and are still "a man of your word" thank you! You're a dying breed...

This just proves that kids today are not made the same as when I grew up. I was born Dec 16 1974. Here is an example of what a "tolerant Hillary supporter" does when they are presented with verbal confrontation. I went to Johnson Valley on Nov 18th to attend a weekend Jeep event. We took our Cummins and camper instead of tenting it with the MJ. While in camp the discussion turn political and a 22 year, sagging pants, Hillary supporter got his feels hurt. He didn't like the fact that I called him out for not signing up for the Selective Service. He took that as a chop to his manhood, which he should have. As the bigger man and not wanting my new wife see me beat this turd's @$$ all over the desert I walked away and put my bride to bed. We then hopped in a Jeep and took a ride into the night. While we were out my wife herd someone messing with the truck and thought it was me. It wasn't. We left the truck hooked to the camper all weekend and never moved it. We packed up and left mid Sunday morning to head home. We made it 21 miles before the Cummins started missing and knocking like hell. I pulled over and had her towed home. I started all the basic trouble shooting and determined I had a bad injector. The wife asked if that kid might have messed with the truck. I pulled a fuel sample and it had water in it. Ok, maybe we got bad fuel when we filled up Thursday. I called and filed a claim and sent her to the dealership for an inspection. They found the water AND sugar in my tank. When they did the compression test #4 had no (zero) compression. The knocking was the piston exploding and taking out the block. I got word yesterday that my truck is a total loss. SUPER! 144K on an 07 5.9 Cummins and she has to be scrapped. Boys and girls, let this be a lesson to you. The days of going toe to toe with a man are long gone. These punks today will hide in the shadows and be cowards like they are. RIP Buffy, you were a great truck and I will miss you every day.
