98 XJ 4.0 with the infamous no-start
shelbyluvv replied to Dzimm's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Unplug the CPS and spit in the plug then reconnect it. It actually works most of the time. Make sure the key is on and Listen for the relays to click in the PDC. My 97 converted MJ used to do the same thing. If yours starts get to NAPA and buy a CPS. -

Random idea/solution to 97+ 4dr window switch
shelbyluvv replied to Dzimm's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
The only problem I saw with it was hitting the wrong switch by mistake. Imagine driving down the road and you mistakenly hit your kill switch trying to put down your window. While in theory it is an excellent idea, in service it could be a mistake. I would use them for any function that you could see. Nothing like reverse lights, kill switch, fog lights... -
That is the base model steering wheel. The nicer rigs got the leather wrapped wheels.

SOA rides and flexes better than SUA. I am at 4.5" with a SUA on 265s and they rub up front when I disco the sway bar. -

Project "Black Betty"
shelbyluvv replied to shelbyluvv's topic in MJ Hardcore Tech: Epic Journeys to Greatness
Not really, it has been cold and rainy for the last few weeks out here. I will got to her this spring I hope. -
Long story short, yes they built it. Look in the for sale section and you'll see the truck listed. I had them do the deletes, full 4" straight pipe exhaust and H&S tuner. They also put on brand new 35s and had it aligned. The company that built the truck was Precision Body Line. Brian left them and started his own company called Custom Solutionz. Which is Stretch My Truck. Precision went under a few years ago. If you watch Diesel Brothers you will see Brian in an episode giving them advice on a six door conversion. Ultimately Brian ended up doing all of their 6 doors as well. The process is to cut the frame above the axle and add 21" to it. Extend the exhaust, brake lines, fuel lines and drive shaft. Then slap a long bed on it. It is a $6000 conversion. Thank your for the kind words. I love the truck and it's kind of cool having the only one in the area.

Wheel base is 181" and total length bumper to bumper is just over 22'.

Project "Black Betty"
shelbyluvv replied to shelbyluvv's topic in MJ Hardcore Tech: Epic Journeys to Greatness
It should work fine. I live in hotter climates so I went with a bigger radiator. -
Dodge does not produce a long bed Mega Cab. It is a custom job

Ben, the radiator is a 2 core aluminum deal for a Chevy. I had to have the fill neck extended to clear the radiator support and the lower outlet straitened to work with the Magnum. http://www.cfrperformance.com/CFR_ULTRACOOL_ALUMINUM_RADIATOR_CHEVY_22_x19_p/hz-40010.htm -
No company insures daily drivers for agreed values. Progressive, GEICO and a couple others will allow you to drive so many miles a year though. You must also provide receipts/proof and pictures of all your mods to get them covered. As of right now Meg is covered for $45k and I only use it once in awhile for pleasure.

Good luck man. I just dealt with this. My Cummins was totalled and I got paid $26,694 for an 07 5.9 with 139k on it. I got tired of arguing and wasting my time. Not a single truck anywhere near here was less than $35k. That's why we went to SLC to get the new truck. I dropped that company and now have agreed value coverage on the LB Mega Cab. I hope nothing happens to this truck but if it does I will have enough money to buy whatever truck I want.

Thanks fellas. As far as it being big... It is only 21" longer than my old truck. I really don't notice much difference. The blind spots are bigger and can hide a Honda with ease. I have walked out of a couple stores to find a few people standing there looking at it and wanting more information about her. We smile when we see it. To me, pictures just don't do this truck justice. It is a piece of automotive art. It is just beautiful to me.

Unbolt your door and cut the hinge off the body with a cut off wheel. I did this fix years ago and my truck is doing just fine. My door actually fell off so I know the fix works. As far as there not being enough information in the DIY??? You're on your own there. I found the write up very thorough and detailed.

After a loooong day on the road we made it home safely. Meg pulled down 19.9 mpg average with us running 85-90 mph the whole way. She is a beast! Anything past 1/4 from a stop and you're sideways. This truck has a ton of torque. The drive home was absolutely beautiful. Our views were breathtaking all the way to the Nevada line. These are just a couple of the pics Steph took along the way. After all the snow and driving Meg wasn't looking as sexy as she could be. Today she had a spa day and got pampered. Without further ado... Here she is

As many of you know my beloved truck Buffy was totalled a month ago. We found her replacement but it can't be just any old truck. I have to go one better. I found a Long Bed Mega Cab that will fill the void quite nicely. Follow along as we make the trip to pick up our newest truck...Meg We drove from 29 Palms CA to Las Vegas NV first. First stop is lunch. We found this cool place called Blaze Pizza. It is like the Subway of pizza joints. Pretty cool and damn tasty. After lunch we parked the Trailhawk, hopped on a shuttle and we are now waiting for our flight. Get ready for takeoff! I have an awesome wife to tolerate my antics and still smile! We landed in Salt Lake City to a pleasant surprise... What is this cold white stuff and why is it only 14° outside? I have been in the South or the desert for the last 20 years. I'm not used to this. This truck better be worth it.

I'm counting days the days until the inauguration and stocking up on ammo. I think all hell is going to break loose. On a better note, we fly to SLC Monday to look at our new truck. Hopefully it's as nice as all the pics and videos have shown us it is.

Benefits of the 97+ swap?
shelbyluvv replied to Jaxso32's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
You don't have to do a full 97+ swap to use the newer doors. It makes it easier to wire them but if the 96 has power doors most of the work has been done. I think most responding are missing the point that the 96 is OBD-II also. The swap is drastically simplified by keeping the old style dash and HVAC system. -
None of them!
