It looks good Pat. I have never seen a emrald green MJ either. Should be different than the crowd. I think I will be painting mine deep amethyst just to be different.
-
Quick teaser pic. It got too dark before I could get some better ones. My drive way slopes down hill. It is not really that high in the back. I had a 1/4 of clearance from the garage door! Looks like the 245s will be as big as she is getting.

For a total color change "I" would completely gut the truck. The drive train included. Nothing looks worse than a engine bay in a different color than the body. I know you can always paint it black but, to me that just looks rushed. Remove all the interior, drive train, all the glass, bed, all lights, and flares. I would leave the fenders, header panel, and doors in place to ensure their alignment is perfect after the repaint. With the interior and all the glass removed, the painters can easily spray the door jambs and get into the nooks and crannys to give a better result. It is a lot more time intensive to do it this way, it will be 1000X better in the end.

Auto to manual lock-out hubs?
shelbyluvv replied to Lenard's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I am not real sure :dunno: I had black wheels on the XJ and never tried a stock wheel. Rangers have about the same hub and their wheel centers are smaller than a XJ so maybe... But you could easily have the wheels centers machined if needed. -
Auto to manual lock-out hubs?
shelbyluvv replied to Lenard's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Jeep never made a lock-out hub kit, to my knowledge, for any Z/X/M/T/Y/WJ Dana 30. I paid $1000 for my Warn set-up that was on my XJ. It included the hubs, stub shafts, spindles, and the locking nuts. I still had to have the center hats of my rotors machined to fit the new spindles. They might be trying to sale you the hubs for a CJ Dana 30 if so they will not work on a MJ Dana 30. -
I honestly never noticed that before! I had to go back and check.

MJ bucket seat tilt pic

Thanks for the effort Ren. You surely did not have to go through all that. I found my answer on google. I need the tilt stuff from a 97+ XJ seats. -
MJ bucket seat tilt pic
shelbyluvv replied to shelbyluvv's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Ren, thanks for the pics. But, those are of the bottom sliders. I need pics of the parts that make it recline and tilt forward on the side of seat under the padding and fabric. I was wondering if they were the same setup as the 97+ XJ seats. Jeff, I have a plan in the back of my mind to do something... -
If you only need the perches then you can get them from Summit Racing for about $20 shipped. If you want everything, (perches, u-bolts, plates, and shock mounts) then you can't beat Ruff Stuffs Dana 44 swap kits at $120.

Anyone got a drivers seat with tilt that can take a pic for me? I need a picture of the tilt lever area. Basically if you look at it from the door side (with the plastic removed) is there 3 bolts holding the frames together?

Rough Country drop brackets
shelbyluvv replied to mjeff87's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
The alignment shoes have a hole in the center, while the brackets have a slit for them to adjust using shims. I would use the shoes to keep the arms from even having the chance to slide in the pockets. -
Swapping '97+ Power Accessories
shelbyluvv replied to reson46's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
The complete door can be swapped. You will need to change the sticker though. Johnnyc did it to his. He had a write up in JP a few months back. The door seals will also be good to keep. You can keep the parking brake and mod it like I did to my truck. Other than the doors and mirrors their is not to much that will work on the MJ without major mods. -
Rough Country drop brackets
shelbyluvv replied to mjeff87's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I just finished doing mine about 20 mins ago. Everything went smooth as silk. Except putting the stock alignment shoes and LCAs back into the RC pockets. I had to beat, pry, bend, and cuss to get them in. Once I figured it out the other side went easy as pie. The UCA brackets are side specific. It can be confusing to get them right. It took me a few mines to get them on too. -
Just bought a '91 Comanche 4x4
shelbyluvv replied to fasheeryfo's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
Why does your MJ have a CV shaft? That is a ZJ and WJ thing. -
They over build stuff. If it still works with out the extra parts, it really wasn't needed.
-
Gimme a yell when you get in town.
-
I would love to tell you but I will have to kill you after! They are out of a 96 ZJ.
-
Just a touch of cowbell, Here is a teaser pic of my new seats. I like the WK seats but they are too tall and hard to match the interior to. New look will be all agate (thanks Sir Sam for the idea) with these, They are a bolt in for the 97+ brackets too!

I got all 5 of mine with nice MTRs for $175 :dunno:

Bucket Seat Suggestions other than XJ
shelbyluvv replied to glundblad's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
It was going to cost me over $400 to get mine redone. I did end up putting 06 WK seats in the truck. I will probably be selling them to go to a ZJ or WJ seat. I really like the look or the ZJ seats. -
I will be dropping the 97 XJ's tank in a few days. I am going to try and make the XJ tank and sender work in the MJ. Like most here I am coming up empty handed on finding a HO pump and sender. Even if I do find the HO parts I am not sure the sender will work with the 97 electronics. I may have to put the tank in the spare tire location if it won't fit in the stock location. Which I doubt it will because of the size of it. We will see soon enough.

I would call and re-check that. Mine has been on back order for over 2 months now!

This is a 97 XJ (STOCK) steering column in my MJ. Clearly different.
