  1. I will help you guys along. The tank has been my BIGGEST mess yet. I think I have got it figured out. I will hopefully have my parts by this week end. If I get them the tank will be installed and the truck should be running by next week!
  2. Are you sure the front flares will fit the rear properly? They angle out in the front to offset the curve of the front fender.
  3. I got the new APN header installed finally. It fit pretty good on my 97 HO motor. The intake required a little bit of grinding on the front runner support to get it to sit flush. The exhaust manifold had been holding up the process on the installation of everything else. I've got everything in the engine bay now. I will be picking up a TJ tank and pump next week to retro-fit into the truck. I got sick and tired of messing with the old tank, pump, and gauge sender. While not being able to find the parts easily. The TJ stuff is a dime a dozen. The TJ tank is just a few inches longer, a inch wider, and an inch shorter. It will have the right sender for my gauge cluster, the right pump for my engine, and the fuel lines will hook up to my XJ lines I kept. All in all making for easier to find parts and maintain the truck in the future.
  4. I found the O ring. Where can I get the rubber piece in the tank that the return line goes into? Mine is a puddle of melted goo. None of my parts houses list it and the dealer can't get me one.
  5. I am getting ready to put the tank back in the MJ. I replaced the pump with a HO pump. Now I need the big O ring for the lock ring, the grommet that goes in the tank to hold the return line, and the spring washers that hold the wiring to the top of the tank. I am striking out trying to find these parts. They are really holding up my progress. Help me please!
  6. I just picked up my APN header this week. It looks just like a Banks for about a 1/3 of the price. It cost me $150 or so shipped. I really like the limited lifetime warranty. http://www.ineedparts.com/auto-parts/ex ... ifold.html I hear they can be a real bear to get a couple bolts on the bottom tightened down. EDIT: I see you are working with a 89. This Header will required mods to work on your truck.
  7. ^ lives right down the road from where I grew up. (Dawson, Vanderbilt area)
  8. Past trucks, 86, 2.5, 4x4, Base sold in Cali. Ryno now owns it. 86, 2.8, 4x4, Star Line RV conversion, sold to dude in IN. Found by Pat in a JY. Current trucks, 89 Eliminator, Project Onyx 90 LWB, 4x4, waiting for me in Cali. Going to be a 4 door MJ.

  10. I said nothing...
  11. You don't want my opinion...
  12. ^ Has a very nice Renix Eliminator and a soon to be perfect ChryCo Eliminator.
  13. Congrats Willy and wife! I really like this truck. I have a soft spot for a lifted long box.
  14. It could be the way the PO welded the new metal to the floor pan. I looked hat his build thread and seen he replaced that area you are talking about.
  15. I like it, a lot! I am going to build one for myself. I will brace the floors and add a rear hoop though.
  16. Welcome back, enjoy the board. We are proud of our little piece of Jeeperdom.
  17. Nerfs have nothing to do with making a truck rust faster. Aluminum running boards will though. There are not a lot of MJ nerfs left to choose from. You can easily get a set of 97-01 standard cab, short bed Dodge Ram nerf bars and modify them to fit the MJ. They will go from the front flare to the rear flare on a SWB MJ. I was going to go this route on mine. But, my plans changed and I went 97 instead.
  18. I think your grill is in wrong.
  19. I think they were made by Unique Wheels in California. They have been out of business for a couple years now. They were used on a lot of trailers a few years ago. You will play hell finding one in the 5X5.5 pattern. Check with the smaller Mom and pop tire shops. They were used as display wheels by a lot of them.
  20. Some where in my build thread there is a page that shows how I modified a 97 TJ fuel guage sender to work with in conjunction with the TJ cluster I put in my truck. It can't be much different (or harder) to do the same thing with your truck. Something tells me it will be easier for you.
  21. Nice stating point. 4x4 conversion already started. That will save you some time and cash. I don't think that sunroof is factory though. I will need some type of documentation to believe ChryCo would install a sunroof like that at the factory. It looks like a cheapo 90s jobby. Nice truck either way.
  22. I laughed. I needed that. Thanks.
  23. Should be a 4.0 considering it is a Eliminator. If I had to guess it would put my money on either the o2 sensor, TPS, MAP, or a vacuum leak. Is the truck giving you any codes or a CEL?
