  4. Good Luck! Here is what I can get in Southern California for $900: http://inlandempire.craigslist.org/cto/3237970086.htmlI So I am not on crack. Just live in a different part of the world.
  5. Sorry to pop your bubble, but you are not going to make a cent by by fixing, then selling. Flip it for $10-1200, if you can. Best advice, fix it,then drive it to death yourself.
  6. to detroit? :dunno: Yes, wife's sister lived in Detroit, so we drove to Detroit for a visit, the drove back to Anaheim, Ca. thru Yellowstone. Never have been back to Detroit and no desire to go there again. Yellowstone and the Tetons - been back a number of times.
  7. You fellows can keep your huricanes and tornados! I will take an earthquake any day! Or even a swarm of earthquakes.
  8. Excelent pictures. The Old Faithful picture reminded me of April, 1973 (first time I was there). We were going home from a trip to Detroit. Stopped at the Yellowstone lodge the first night it was open for the season. Had a room on the outside of the lodge and woke up to a view of Old Faithful erupting in the morning. Drove around the park, then 1200 miles to home in one very long 20 hour drive. Agree with 87Warrior, much prefer Grand Teton to Yellowstone. Both are wonderful places.
  9. You answered your own question John. :D Only thing that made sense to me!! Go for it and lets all enjoy our toys!!
  10. About 1974, my dad and I flat towed a Corvair Rampside truck with a full cab over camper, total weight 4,000 lbs behind a 1964 Chevy Impala Wagon with a 283 V8 and powerglide automatic. The engine moved the load, with some protest. The Wagon had 9.5 inch drum brakes at all 4 wheels. We dragged the Corvair camper more than 300 miles home (and over the 4160 ft. Tejon Pass). Not a very good Idea, but we drove slowly and allowed a ton of room for stopping distance. Even then we did not have to make an emergency/panic stop. If we did, we would have been toast. When towing, stopping is the biggest problem. Was 40 years ago, still is today. Take care of the stopping and don't worry about how much weight the engine has to pull. If the truck can not pull the load, you will smoke your clutch or transmission. If you can not stop, you will smash your truck, and your body. If you survive the wreck, you can get another truck and what ever you were towing. It is just metal. Yes, I had a wreck towing a trailer in 1999. Both the dog and I were just fine. SUV and trailer got fixed. (And brakes had nothing to do with the accident).
  11. Don, Good information. But, given your use of the Comanche, why consider the 4 x 4 swap? I have thought about doing the 4x4 conversion on my 91 Comanche, but I only use the truck 3K per year. I have a 4x4 2000 Isuzu Rodeo, and only took it on one long winter trip because of the 4x4. Saw lots of 4x4 suv's in the ditch on 300 bad miles of that winter trip. So why do the 4x4 conversion on a street driven truck? Other than just because it is my toy!
  12. Keep it simple. Use a 3.4 GM V6. Bolt in replacement.
  13. Jim, Get your butt to a doctor, now. An MRI will show if you had a small stroke or not. No pain involved. If the GF keeps "bitchin", you will be in a bunch of pain for a long time! Wish my late wife had gone to the Dr. after she had some small stroke symptoms.
  14. Political claptrap by the "fair and balanced" right wing propaganda network.
  15. How about GVW for BigTon/MetricTon? Lost my door sticker to am accident.
  16. Don, Where was that one available and when? No, that's the police package cluster. This is the one I like:
  17. If I had a truck such as described and somebody offered me $3,000 for it I would be highly insulted, as well as knowing that the person has a tenuous grip on reality. Eagle, No need to be insulted. And I have a solid grip on reality. As I said, just not my cup of tea and I would not pay over $3K. No doubt the owner has much more than 10K into his truck. Just not willing to pay based on a quick verbal outline. No idea how much rust is on or under the truck. Frankly I doubt the owner would take $5K for it either.
  18. Not my cup of tea, so best I would go is $3k. Don't like front bumper, red trucks. Have to wonder who did all the .on stock work. What does the inside look like, does a/c work.
  19. I have a calibrated 120 mph speedometer with 3 gauges and the big fuel Is that what you are looking for?
  20. Red Rocker79: Do us all a favor when you load that 2.5 into your truck by running the truck over some scales with the load and then with the truck empty. That way, we will all have a valid weight for next time the question comes up!
  21. That's the way I was going to do my 91.
  22. Very short answer, NO. The plastic case of the. 3/4 cluster does not have the hole to put the needle thru. You need to use the old case. Put the new gauges in the cluster, excep for the fuel gauge. You also need to swap the printed circuit board form the 3/4 cluster. You don't say what year.
  23. Thanks Don, johnj92131@ yahoo. com
  24. Does anyone know of a web site with the factory parts book for the MJ? I am working on the road, but would like to research factory part numbers for my 91 MJ. Any links? Thanks, JJ
