  1. Now that truck looks like a real kick for a low dollar project. Would be great for a Saturday Cruise Night.
  2. I had no problem with the link. The shell looks like a decent one for a reasonable price IF you are not too far away. JJ
  3. No safety item is perfect. What they do is tilt the survival odds for MOST instances, in your favor. Glad you had your seatbelt on. Had an uncle killed in a 30 mph crash, because he did not buckle his seatbelt on a very short trip. Tossed out of the truck, his head was smashed on the blacktop.
  4. I allways liked the AMC Hornet Wagon/AMC Sportabout/Eagal Wagon too. Never owned one, unfortunately. Got some friends from Canada going to visit for 2 or 3 weeks this month. Let's get together after that?
  5. 195 cubic inch 6, 3 on the tree, no overdrive?? no synchro in first. When I was 17 I had a 59 then a 61 Rambler. Not all that great. Good luck at $7K
  6. You are welcome! I have seen these priced from $300 plus down to Free. More important than price is how far you are willing to travel to get it at what ever price.
  7. 7 ft. 4 inches is right. 88 inches for the long bed.
  8. I am not going to be popular here: But, if your old Toyota is running fine, then you have no reason to buy a Comanche. The 4 cylinder Toyota engines will run just as long as the Jeep 6 cylinder 4.0 and deliver better fuel economy. Both trucks use the same AsinWarner automatic transmission. Never buy a Comanche with the 2.8 ltr V6 GM POS engine. As you have been told, MJ trucks have there electrical issues. Depends on what you want to do with your truck, I use mine to haul "stuff" for the house, not off roading. I like the long bed and the Big Ton package the lets me haul 2200 plus pounds with no worries. But these are old trucks and you are going to have to work on them. Just like you have done with your Toyota. But with the Toyota, you know what you have done, with a "new" Commanche, you will not know what has been fixed and how well it may have been fixed.
  9. My top bid was $231.69 and I was too low to get past the $229.50 bid.
  10. So what is the best way to ship a virgin tailgate? Any idea of the cost? Yes, I did send an email to the seller. Just wondering if anyone here has experienced shipping a tailgate. Thanks,
  11. Fair enough! We all have to set our own priorities and live with or learn from them. I have E-codes on my Passat. I love them, they are great. I don"t use the Commanche much, especially at night (the lights suck). But I keep spending extra money on other toys. Want the relay harness for the Passat first. One of these days, it is E-codes for the Commanche, then the relay harness for an extra $30 or so. BTW, E-codes for the Comanche (at $100 for the pair) are a HUGE bargain compared to the $400 and up cost for the Passat. Think I paid $20/25 for one Silver Star sealed beam.
  12. 4BT weight is 750 to 785 lbs. See this link for more info: http://www.cumminsdieselspecs.com/4bt.html Hundreds of pounds more the the 4.0 six. Want a diesel? Find a 2004-5 2.0 VW: 134 hp and 247 ft/lbs factory stock. Chip and turbo upgrade for 40-50% more hp and Tq. Also way lighter than the 4.0 six. Likely also a whole lot less expensive than the 4BT Even the 90 hp 1.9 ltr VW TDI can be built for over 200 hp and 340 ft. lbs. Tq. (Would be my choice when my 4.0 dies. But, the 4.0 will probably still be running when I die). Really want something different? Find a 2005 VW V10 Toureg: 310 hp 553 Ft.Lbs TQ with factory 4 x 4 and 6 speed auto transmission. And if the stock 553 ft.lbs. Tq is not enough for you, it can be chip tuned for even more!!!
  13. send me your address to: johnj92131@yahoo.com
  14. Yes, still have the tan set. Send me a pm with your mailing address and they are yours as soon as I get another padded envelope. Guess I should get some more of them next time I am at the yards. Anyone else need some?? Post a note here.
  15. I strongly suspect you have a bad ground (s) somewhare. It is a frequent Jeep issue. Search for "ground" and I think you will get some leads. Jeeps are well known for electrical gramlins. Sorry I could not be more help. I still have ground issues with my Comanche. My 96 VW Passat is also famous for ground issues.
  16. Anyone else looking for Sun Visor Clips? I have a good pair of Tan Visor clips for anyone in need. Just send me your mailing address and they are yours. I can allways get a couple more sets when I visit the local yards. Gray is them most frequent color by far. But some Duplicolor can fix that most of the time.
  17. There is a great Dodge seat conversion on here somewhere. May have it bookmarked at home.
  18. Welcome to the ComancheClub. And best wishes for your search. It would be good if you posted your location so we know not to send you great trucks like this one, because they are too far away from you. Here is a good looking Comanche for $2700 http://sandiego.crai...3334447907.html The phone number is in Los Angeles, not San Diego. <------ See my location right here. Again, welcome and best of luck.
  19. Are you looking for a long bed or a short bed? There was one 6 to 8 weeks ago on Los Angeles Craigslist. You might want to post an ad on LA Craigslist incase it did not sell. Price was very attractive if I recall.
  20. Bhfear, You must be going to the wrong yards. I picked up 3 sets with no problem. After 3 sets, I just ignored the rest. Did get some nice 2 door weatherstrips for the windows, will help seal the Comanche.
  21. Ok. I would just flip a coin, pick one. If it works, you are golden. If not, you ate out some cash. One more thing to suggest, go back to yard, buy used set of pads, note VIN. Test fit, go from there.
  22. So how does this bumper make provision for the 2 inch receiver and how does this compare with a class 3 trailer htich?
  23. That is great! But tell us what you found and how you solved it, so the next Guy who uses the search function will know how to solve the problem!
  24. Drop me a PM, I can 2 sets just as easy as one set.
  25. I am going to 3 or 4 yards next weekend. Send my your mailing address, I will get you a couple of them at no charge - even for postage. $25.00 for a couple plastic parts is worse than going to a Volkswagen Stealership for service. Moderators, feel free to remove my post if you don't like my comments. It was intended to be a nasty comment.
