  1. my cars i prefer in a manual trans, but trucks and jeeps i like an auto, off road thats just another thing to worry about doing, and imo it makes having fun turn into work.
  2. well definatly figure those numbers out man, i think it would be a cool build.
  3. 2007 saturn vue uses a hood strut, and its a nice single one. i will get price and information on it soon. and its only a 2007 model that has them.
  4. that truck was super perfect man, but it looks hot on 35's too.
  5. i personally like rustys products, i never had a problem with them yet.
  6. rear spring over axle conversion and your choice of the front lift. rough country is rather cheap, but they do ride smooth.
  7. no backlash or anything to worry about? where can i get ring gear bolts at? and who makes a stronger cross pin
  8. my fiance likes my xj, its a 99, so its pretty nice on the inside and outside, but comanches she doesn't like because they are old, so she thinks old = unreliable. so when we get a house and garage i am gonna start the serious mj hunt/build up. and it seems to me that there are a lot of mj's in PA so i am gonna be living close to philly so mj's will be at my finger tips
  9. now to install one the carrier and the ring gear needs to be removed, is there any measuring clearances and such involved in that, or just mark it and make sure its torqued to the proper specs and reinstall?
  10. i use a white lithium grease, it doesn't wash out like wd40. it sticks to the part where you spray it. and also works great on hood latches so they don't get stuck on you
  11. i was thinking of getting a lockrite "lunch box locker for my front d30 on my xj, i don't want to convert to lockout hubs, so i was wondering how much will this locker affect my steering on road? or should i save up and get the arb i want
  12. on my xj, 99sport, the rear drums have been locking up on me. it started after my last off road trip, but they only seem to lock up when i first start driving, and usually kinda cold, and/or damp outside. any suggestions of how to fix this? i removed my drums and cleaned them out a bit with brake cleaner and a brush, it stopped for a bit but came back. i do need new shoes in the rear soon, but would this cure it?
  13. you mean like all of these? www.awshifting.com (thats brettM off our forum and naxja and pirate and everywhere possible.) does anyone know how to wire up paddle shifters so that the wires won't get entanglesd all the time? obviously offroad you do alot of wheelturning, and i don't want to have my shifters coming unplugged. there is the more expensive paddle shifters BrettM provides a link to they are about 600 bucks, but they are wireless, so they would be really cool, but you also need a new steering wheel etc.

  16. well i say you have you idea thought out pretty well, and you understand what your getting yourself into if you persue (sp?) this. i think this might be a pretty worthwhile idea if they numbers your looking for show that the tie rods are strong enough. i say go for it and tell us how it handles. the worst thing that an happen is it breaks (hopefully not on the road) and you learn from the mistakes, and either try again or take easier approach. but just post pics, part #s, and prices if you do deide to so it can make it easier for other people to follow your ground breaking approach
  17. looks really good man, how are you gonna mold them together

    wicked sweet build up
  19. i was just posting accurate sizes for what to expect mounted on a vehicle of similar weight and size (both xj's) to an mj. so my 33's would be a little bigger if i measured them front to back, but they were only about an 1'' short from what they would be with no weight on them
  20. wow that thing looks mean. are you gonna upgrade to the 97^ front end?
  21. i wish i could regear and add lockers. those eaton lockers i heard only good things about so far.
