  1. so i started to finally work on my jeep. getting the front end all apart was pretty easy took a few hours working slow to do it. i don't have acess to a lift in my garage so a cherry picker works great , along with a couple of jackstands for safety measures. the only problems i have had so far is removeing the pitman arm. i had a pulley puller i was trying to use, but it wouldn't cut it. so i took a trip to harbor frieght and bought one for a pitman arm, hopefully it works. the other thing was trying to connect the control arms with the springs installed with no spring compressor. i did it before on a lift with 2 people and a huge prybar, but i had to cave and spent 13 bucks on a harbor frieght one. it should works fine. all the parts i got look great so far, and just haveing a little trouble on getting the correct control arm lengths. with the lengths i have 15.5'' upper 17'' lower, there is no upward angle on the pinion, but i am assuming the caster is pretty close to factory. everything looks fine on it and there is no binding of the driveshaft u joint or anything. maybe i am worriying over nothing. oh i did have to modify my lower control arm mounts to use the new rough country adjustable arms. they are a straight arm and have no curve like the non adjustables, so at full axle droop they hit the upper part of the shock/coilspring/control arm mount. so a couple minutes with the cut off wheel took care of that.
  2. that site gives the same measurements i used for 6''. it just doesn't seem right to me. there is no upward angle on the pinion. i never payed any attention if there was stock either.
  3. i just bought adjustable controls arms upper and lowers for my xj. i was told a length of 15.5'' upper and 17'' lower. this is with rustys 6.5'' springs. now i have the arms bolted to the axle with no springs installed. with these measurements i have 0 degrees pinion angle from the axle which probably isn't great and it should be pointed up a little bit at least. so my questions are- How long are the stock control arms upper and lower how many degrees shouldi have of pinion angle how long should my adjustable control arms be. thanks you very much for any help you can provide
  4. that really sucks about the roll. but aren't new windshield the best. its like getting new contact lenses. its so damn clear
  5. i have my tcase dropped in my xj. it works fine i guess meaning there is no driveline viberation, but it also is more prone to getting hung up on rocks and stuff, so i have a skid plate on it. the only thing wrong with it is it seems that my motor mounts have worn faster from the engine being tilted back. its not a huge deal considering they are the original ones at 90k, but that is the only adverse thing that has happened.
  6. i have adjustable rought country control arms. 160 for uppers 160 for lowers. 6.5'' rustys coils 150. rough country brakelines - 65. drop pitman arm - 60. shocks - 100 (est). and thats about it for the front. total - 710. the rear you could do a SOA with tnt customs ubolt eleminators in the smallest size. at about 160 shipped. and nothing will hang below your axle, and have 5-7'' lift with the stock spring packs (depending on the condtion of your springs). the pearches are long to prevent axles wrap and come with new shock mounts. and rear shocks about 100 so total price is 970. and that is a really decent system.
  7. marathon key is in the middle of the keys. very beautiful there. i know a guy down there but i couldn't get it back up to michigan fo cheap
  8. first thing i thought was truggy. i would buy that for 100 heck maybe 200.
  9. sell it to me for 400 and double your money
  10. the truck looks perfect except for the rear fender flare. the front is leaned back too far making the wheelwell look kinda small.
  11. the axle will fit and bolt it. but the gearing can be different depending on the options. you probably have 3.55 gears stock, some came with 4.10 gears and 4.56 gears stock but the axles can be hard to come by. i would personally save money and do a ford 8.8 axle swap. most came with disc brakes and a lot came with 4.10 gears. and they are strong axles and alot of them came with posi.
  12. nice meeting ya pete, and thanks for the sticker. its on my hatch right now. WOOT!
  13. really 16''? it doesn't seem like its that long.
  14. don't expect good mileage from the 4.0, but they have good torque. this guy has a site page about them. http://www.jeep4.0performance.4mg.com/
  15. the one from an xj is longer and provides storage room for sunglasses and a garage door opener and such. might be something to look into. i could get a measurement in length off my brothers in his xj, so anyone could figure if it would fit in their manche
  16. yeah i like the look of the cut and all, but it really drops the resale value by a 1000 or more when you cut them. i am extremly undecided about it now, but i know someday they will be cut. its about 6-7'' rear lift and 4.5-5'' in the front.
  17. i came by today and noone answered
  18. can you get me some pics of the competition cut he did to the rear quarters? i am very interested in doing that to mine. do he do the cut and fold method, or weld a new piece in?
  19. i like the bumper, but i would taper the bottom outside corners up for better ground clearance and approach
  20. well here is my xj if you never seen it before and here is most of the stuff i just bought for it. it consists of 6.5'' rustys coils, bar pin eliminators, yellow shock boots, rough country upper adjustable control arms, rough country brakes lines, dropped pitman arm, rustys trackbar bracket. and my harbor frieght airtools that will help in my endeavors. on order are rough country adjustable lower control arms, tnt customs 1.5'' u bolt eliminators, and some other small misc stuff. and here are my rock sliders i had someone make for me, they are modeled after jcr's ones but a fraction of the price. hope you like. and updates will come as i install them
  21. i get off workr 6, so i will drive by then.
  22. i will take a red on and sport it on the xj. when can i pick it up and meet ya?
  23. i have rough country control arms. they are really beefy and the price is the best you can find.
  24. a stiffer spring would be better if you have a big winch and a heavy front bumper on your truck, but if you have it pretty stock up front then just get the right ones for the xj/mj
