i don't understand after all that why stay with the d30 and not go full width? it would provide a little bit more stability and give you options for better gearing with tires taller than 36's

they are fine trannys. and a lot of parts swapablility between trannies. they can handle a ton of power if built for it,but stock i wouldn't realy put a whole lot of power through it. if you want a lot of torque, the 4l80e is the beefiest tranny stock. they changed the name from 700r4 to the 4l series in 95 i think?

i have a jks trackbar. and 4.5 inched of front lift. the TRE on the frame mount went bad on my 2nd off road trip with it. it pops when turning and stuff. not good. i am ordering the rustys hd frame braket and the bushing end, so it will last longer
-
the bushing on the frame end isn't mounted like the factory TRE with the bolt vertical, it would be horizontal and aloow a lot more axle droop than the TRE or jonny joint. if you only moveing the vehicle a few feet and only in a straight line i guess you could do that without a track bar, but you would be better off with it. and you can only drive without a trackbar on a front leaf sprung vehicle.

that really sucks man. at least it wasn't worse

looks great so far. krawlers are so nice. what size are they?

i have a rustys one i paid 50 bucks for.

converting the better vehcile to 4wd is the best option. i have a friend, he is really into hondas. he bought a rusted out michingan crx for a few hundred dollars. first it was just going to get a decent paint job done, but then it snowballed into a 20,000 dollar showcar/autocross car. the first time i seen it after the flawless new paint it was beautiful and you couldn't tell it ever had rust on it, or a sunroof (it was filled in). it was beautiful. but the first thing he said was "i wish i would have started with a cleaner car." he told me he spent 8,000 in bodywork and paint to get it like that. a minty fresh crx maximum price would be about 3-4000 dollars for a perfect example. so i think that the conversion is better, and will be a lot quicker to do.

the cheapest radio i could find. if its in my off road truck that sees action often, i would never put a radio in it over 100 bucks. in my dd/trail truck i have a 400 dollar alpine that i love to death and will never get rid of.
-
did you try a jumpstart?
-
any updates? i seen axles on the trailer the other day
-
sorry pete, but gas milege concerns me too. i owned 5 hondas in the past so 37 mpg or more was common for me, now i get about 9 around town in the jeep. but i don't cry about it. i do want gears for performance and slightly bettr mileage, but mileage is secondary to me now.

sweet. where can you wheel in jersey?

that looks sick man, when is it gonna be done?

well look at pitbull tires, they make some really aggressive tires. there all terrain is really a decent mud terrain tire. and they have a mud tire too, and rock tires. i don't know anyone with them, but they say they ride decent on the streets.

definatley the bfg a/t are great tires. i have 33x10.5 on my xj. i do some trail riding and a lot of mud, they handle great, they don't clean that well, but i never got stuck yet. and aired down they work just fine. i run mine at 20psi off road and it handles great.
-
cool the more the better. there is a lot of mud, but there is some really good trails too. some get pretty tight so don't be afraid of scratches and dents. the last meet. i ended up against a tree and scuffed my paint and broke the plastic window rain visor thing. luckily that was all i suffered. another guy ripped his roof rack off, my frined in his toyota suffered 3-4 good size dents on his brand new paint. the ranger suffered a nice dent in the passenger door. one lost cb antena and a broken mirror. (But that is all on 1 trail) but other than that its great. and not all the trails are as bad. there is a few water crossings and such too so its really fun.

i like rustys. never had a problem with them at all. they flex really good too. but the rough country stuff on my xj rides really well also
-
alright we are doing another xj mj meet at the mounds in michigan. the date is set for june 2nd its a saturday. hope to see some people there.
-
i had a thorley header for my xj, but i never put it on, i sold it for 125 bucks. i kinda regret it now
-
5-6'' would be fine with the 31's, yeah they are a little small, but without cutting the fenders some 33's will rub some.
-
how much for your 4.10 axles pete :brows:
-
the apn is nice, that header is exactly like factory, but stainless. i say get the cheapest one.
