Can a TPS Adjustment make my idle worse?
BLHTAZ replied to 88XJSport's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Here is the proper way, per the FSM, to check and adjust a TPS... viewtopic.php?f=9&t=12260 I don't know where ya'll are getting this percentage thing, but it is not the way to do it. You are the second person to post about the percentage adjustment today, and I have never heard of that before today. :dunno: Try the correct testing and adjusting, then report back. The TPS does not typically cause a rough idle problem though. -
I would not pay more that $200 for a set of factory Rubicon wheels. There is nothing special about them and there are a lot of them around...AND...there is no way that I would pay that price and still have to drive 2.5 hours to get them. Bend over...your getting it good on that deal   If they had good, desireable tires on them, then they would be worth $300 and the trip.

Sorry to hear of your loss, but no need to say farewell. You don't "have" to own a Comanche to be a part of this group. You may not have cause to come around a lot, but we are still Jeep family, so stop in and visit once in a while at least

Yep...there are 2wd AX15's  You should be able to unload those wheels. They are nice looking wheels

I don't know where you got the percentage testing method from, but here is the proper TPS testing method from the FSM... viewtopic.php?f=9&t=12260 Your voltage at terminal "B" with A/T and throttle closed should be 4.2 volts. High idle is more typically caused by a problem with the IAC. If you haven't yet, take the throttle body off, remove the TPS & IAC, clean everything REAL good, then reassemble, adjust TPS and fire it up to see what you have.

New guy, 88 comanche 4x4 4.0 5 speed
BLHTAZ replied to Gr8plainsDriftr's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Welcome to the Club... Your CPS is located in the 11 o'clock position on the transmission bellhousing right where it bolts to the block. Kind of tough to see and get to, but the plug for it should be easy to see and reach from the top back near the firewall. If you are talking about a used Aussie Locker for $230 - no, that is not a good deal. They sell for $239 new. You can try a couple things in the misfiring cylinder to determine what is causing it. Unplug the fuel injector wire while it's running and unplug the spark plug and see if either makes a difference. You may want to do a compression check as well. Mine had a rough idle/misfire as-well-as a slight tapping noise that turned out to be a broken valve spring. -
is nobody wathcing this? if you were i guarantee you'd be comenting  I watched it, but have nothing good to say, so I abstained. I guess I can say this... That is the "stereotypical" redneck created in the mind of today's society...it is not a true Redneck. Enough with the redneck hijacking of this thread. If someone is interested enough in talking about rednecks...start a new thread.

Talk him down about $1000 and you will have a nice truck at a fairly decent price. $4000 is way too much for that though.
-
Sorry, but there is no such thing. The 4.0L came with either the BA10/5 or the AX15. The AX15 is the best of the bunch, and likely what you meant to be looking for. The 2.5L had the AX5.

Your Thoughts on a Bolt-on SOA kit
BLHTAZ replied to tmmoll's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Yep...that's a big downside to a bolt on. With a properly done SOA, all of the stuff on the bottom of the axle is gone allowing for that additional clearance and nothing to hang on. -
...and dadgum proud of it to boy...

Those are definitely deer ears. There are a couple rabbits in existance with ears that big though, but they are rare. Here is one... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7f8y4SR9 ... re=related There is another one that looks like him, but is from Orlando. His name is Roberto and he is married to Amy. Roberto weighs in at 35 pounds now and his wife, Amy, tips the scale at 40 pounds

OK...yes, my comments about flaming were about tuscangarden. I had no problem with the redneck comment...just informing that being a redneck is a thing of pride, not disgrace. Sorry if I did not make it clear

Your Thoughts on a Bolt-on SOA kit
BLHTAZ replied to tmmoll's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I have seen bolt-on kits in action and have never heard of any problem with them. Motions kit appears to be good quality and a viable option if you absolutely can not get welding done. I do agree that welding on new perches is the best way to go, and you would have to live in a pretty remote place to not be able to find someone to do 5 minutes worth of welding for you. -
Well, you apparently have a real easy-going positive outlook because I can not see that a post like that could be taken any other way than negative. I guess that's the perils of the internet though...no one knows the intention of typed words on a screen without clear use of non-offensive structure and emoticons. If it was not meant as a flame, then he needs to learn how to post, and make it obvious that it's not flaming, like everyone else works hard to do around here  . For now...I stand by my analogy of the situation and I have no reason to believe otherwise...especially since it's his first, and only post so far.

:agree: It's a fairly common issue.

lower jeep - Could you do us a favor and change the title of your post to "Injector wire colors". There has been a lot of issues with people searching for things, and can't find them using the search feature. Specific titles will help folks find what they want easier in the future.

wow your special! so I put big rims on my truck and I am a rapper? Yea...first post is a flame :shake: . That is not the type of thing that we do around here. Express your opinion, yes, but be nice about it or just stay out of the thread :smart: . You say that like "Redneck" is a bad thing. Being a Redneck is something to be proud of...it's not an insult  .

what's the cheapest way to lift an mj 2"?
BLHTAZ replied to brdhntr's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I would either do spacers or the ZJ springs. You don't need to do anything to the rear as lifting the front 1.5 - 2" will simply level it out like it should be anyway. -
Most companys started cutting down, or discontinuing the 16.5" tires back in about 2003-2004. The reason is, the 16.5" wheel has no safety bead inside and too many people were running these on everyday trucks and tires coming off of the wheels and causing serious crashes became too common. They are OK for off road rigs with true bead locks, but they are really not safe for and light duty DD where it's not legal to run bead locks on the street.

Yea...I don't trust quadratec for anything. They tried to screw me out of $1200 several years ago and I have tried to keep everyone I can away from them ever since. They are liars and thieves that will never get a good word from me again. Sorry, but the mere mention of their name still angers me.

If you want to talk at long distances, you can add the SWR to a non-adjustable antenna, but it is not "required", therefore my statemnet stands...only adjustable antennas "need" to be tuned. Definitely a lot of good info there Ibby, but not really useful for someone like me that doesn't care about talking to someone hundreds of miles away.

The o2 sensor can be a little tough to get to, but not terrible. When I changed mine, I reached up in there with a 1/2" drive ratchet and broke the ceramic housing of the old one off, cut the wires off and left nothing but the nut still in the pipe which made it real easy to get a regular socket on it to remove. The new one is easy to put back in with just a wrench.
