BLHTAZ replied to SuperWade2's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Saweeeeet... Great job man!! :D It's amazing what a little cleaning up and a couple inches of lift will do. -
Come on man...gimme a little credit... I said it was "humor"...never said anything about it being real ;) . You would have to be a bit gullible to take stuff like this seriously :rotfl2:

The Stella Awards It's time again for the annual 'Stella Awards'! For Those unfamiliar with these awards, they are named After 81-year-old Stella Liebeck who spilled hot Coffee on herself and successfully sued the McDonald's In New Mexico where she purchased the coffee. You Remember, she took the lid off the coffee and put it Between her knees while she was driving. Who would Ever think one could get burned doing that, right? That's right; these are awards for the most outlandish Lawsuits and verdicts in the U.S . You know, the kinds Of cases that make you scratch your head. So keep your Head scratcher handy. Here are the Stella's for the past year: 7TH PLACE : Kathleen Robertson of Austin , Texas was awarded $80,000 by a jury of her peers after breaking her Ankle tripping over a toddler who was running inside a Furniture store. The store owners were understandably Surprised by the verdict, considering the running Toddler was her own son. 6TH PLACE : Carl Truman, 19, of Los Angeles , California won $74,000 plus medical expenses when his neighbor ran Over his hand with a Honda Accord. Truman apparently Didn't notice there was someone at the wheel of the Car when he was trying to steal his neighbor's Hubcaps. Go ahead, grab your head scratcher. 5TH PLACE : Terrence Dickson, of Bristol , Pennsylvania , who was Leaving a house he had just burglarized by way of the Garage. Unfortunately for Dickson, the automatic Garage door opener malfunctioned and he could not get The garage door to open. Worse, he couldn't re-enter The house because the door connecting the garage to The house locked when Dickson pulled it shut. Forced To sit for eight, count 'em, EIGHT, days on a case of Pepsi and a large bag of dry dog food, he sued the Homeowner's' insurance company claiming undue mental Anguish. Amazingly, the jury said the insurance company must Pay Dickson $500,000 for his anguish. We should all Have this kind of anguish. Keep scratching. There are more... 4TH PLACE : Jerry Williams, of Little Rock , Arkansas , garner Ed 4th Place in the Stella's when he was awarded $14,500 Plus medical expenses after being bitten on the butt By his next door neighbor's beagle - even though the Beagle was on a chain in its owner's fenced yard. Williams did not get as much as he asked for because The jury believed the beagle might have been provoked At the time of the butt bite because Williams had Climbed over the fence into the yard and repeatedly Shot the dog with a pellet gun. Grrrrr . Scratch, scratch. 3RD PLACE : Amber Carson of Lancaster , Pennsylvania because a Jury ordered a Philadelphia restaurant to pay her $113,500 after she slipped on a spilled soft drink and Broke her tailbone. The reason the soft drink was on The floor: Ms. Carson had thrown it at her boyfriend 30 seconds earlier during an argument What ever Happened to people being responsible for their own Actions? Scratch, scratch, scratch. Hang in there; there are Only two more Stellas to go... 2ND PLACE : Kara Walton, of Claymont , Delaware sued the owner of A night club in a nearby city because she fell from The bathroom window to the floor, knocking out her two Front teeth. Even though Ms. Walton was trying to Sneak through the ladies room window to avoid paying The $3.50 cover charge, the jury said the night club Had to pay her $12, 000....oh, yeah, Plus dental expenses Go figure. 1ST PLACE : (May I have a fanfare played on 50 kazoos please) This year's runaway First Place Stella Award winner Was Mrs. Merv Grazinski, of Oklahoma City , Oklahoma , Who purchased a new 32-foot Winnebago motor home. On Her first trip home, from an OU football game, having Driven on to the freeway, she set the cruise control At 70 mph and calmly left the driver's seat to go to The back of the Winnebago to make herself a sandwich. Not surprisingly, the motor home left the freeway, Crashed and overturned. Also not surprisingly, Mrs. Grazinski sued Winnebago for not putting in the Owner's' manual that she couldn't actually leave the Driver's' seat while the cruise control was set . The Oklahoma jury awarded her, are you sitting down, $1,750,000 PLUS a new motor home. Winnebago actually Changed their manuals as a result of this suit, just incase Mrs. Grazinski has any relatives who might also buy a motor home. Are we, as a society, getting more stupid..? Ya think??!! More than a few of our judge's elevators don't go to the top floor either !!

OK...yeah, you need two people to bleed it properly from my experience just like brakes. Have someone pump the pedal 3-4 times with the bleeder closed then open the bleeder for a couple seconds. Close the bleeder, then pump again etc, etc... If you open the bleeder and then pump the pedal, you are wasting your efforts.
-
When we replaced my slave & clutch, we had to bleed it like brakes. Pump the pedal 3-4 times...hold...open bleeder...close bleeder...repeat. This process had to be repeated 5-6 times until it (the clutch) finally worked properly. I may be preaching to the choir here, but you didn't state exactly what you have done (as far as bleeding) yet so I figure it's best to start simple with suggestions ;) .

:D I don't call it an order, but it just "seems" that you have come in here and started throwing things around and accusing some highly respected people of knowing nothing. Maybe you are being misunderstood as it is very hard to see emotion in written posting, so as far as for me as I said in the other thread, I appologize if I have not understood you properly. This site operates on a very low key and with a great deal of respect for those that "earn it" by proving themselves over time. I guess if there were to be any "order" to anyting, it would be to come in here, get to know a few people, calmly offer your input in a manner that is non-threating, allow people to understand where you come from and how you got there and then your input will be considered on a much higher level. I hope I made sense as I am trying to do this while at work and in between phone calls so it has taken me 20 minutes to do this.

Gotcha...we are on the same page and I appologize if I did not communicate propoerly or if I misunderstood what you where saying  .

I have two friends that are also members here that have had very bad problems with Rusty's quality and customer service. There have been many others post of issues with them as well, so I would not say that they aren't getting any undue bad rap. I am sure that if Motion provided a poor product and would not stand behind it, then they would get the same bad rap as would anyone that sells any product. exjay33...you quite obviously don't get how things work around here. We are all very friendly and we only state what we know and we "talk" about things we do not get angry with and/or flame anyone. No one is bashing anyone...the things that have been said about Rusty's, or any other company here, are statements of experience. If you are seeing it as bashing, you unfortunately are misunderstanding. For some reason, you seem to be trying to stir a pot that is not willing or able to be stirred ;)

On the solid D30 axle, caster & pinion angle are one-in-the-same. The only way to change caster without changing pinion angle is to take the knuckles off and rotate them seperate from the housing. You are saying the same thing that we are...just in a different way. Changing caster (pinion angle) also adversely effects toe and camber and none of this can be properly set by anyone other than someone with the proper knowledge and alignment equipment. ;) I do completely agree with you on the steering damper thing though. It has nothing to do with DW...can't cause it...can't help it  .

I just checked the Chrysler website for availability of all 3 part numbers...Black, Chrome & Red and there are none left anywhere. I also checked all the part numbers on the Chrysler Parts Direct site and the only thing that came up there was one right-side Chrome light...all others showed nothing. ;)

You should have to remove any interior trim for that as they are on the outside.

HELP NEED TO FIND BLEEDER SCREW FOR SLAVE CYL !!!
BLHTAZ replied to BREEZE1's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
exjay33 is right...they do not have a bleeder. It is a huge PITA to change just the slave which is why I have always spent the money and bought the complete unit from the dealership (even before I worked there ;) ). It comes complete with the master & slave already connected with the line and filled with fluid. It is a 15 - 20 minute job at best. -
On the serious side... Well said CW. It was what I was thinking...but just couldn't say the way you did. On the lighter side... Not making light of it in any way, but I feel like a ... (Like Pete...I couldn't resist)

I just took mine out last weekend to replace the e-brake cable and it was a T-50 that I used.

That is not really true either. Incorrect pinion angle causes the camber & toe to be off as well and definitely will contribute to getting DW started. If there are weak points such as control arm bushings, ball joints, track bar bushings, loose track bar etc, etc... then you are in for a ride that is not any fun at all. I can't speak for Eagle, but I have dealt with it several times and the solution has been different in almost every case. Some had to do with pinion angle/castor/camber/toe and some where assortments of the afore mentioned items. Correct alignment is always the first step in my process of fixing DW and in doing a correct alignment...castor (ie; pinion angle) is adjusted.

Chevy Drop Shackles finally showed up...
BLHTAZ replied to SuperWade2's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
OK...that's what I thought...it was just an illusion in the other shot as they don't look bad that way  -
I think the alignment is the likely key here too. That and have the balance re-checked on the tires. ;)
-
I hope that's a generic picture because there are not enough o-rings there to do the job.

Chevy Drop Shackles finally showed up...
BLHTAZ replied to SuperWade2's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Those new shackles don't look like they are going to have a chance of fitting in the same spot that the old one came out of. May just be an illusion in the pics, but the new one sure looks a lot wider. -
Waterpump pulley clearance...
BLHTAZ replied to DirtyComanche's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Exactly...it is a lower profile than the ones in the Wranglers etc... -
I am starting to feel like I should be getting a commission... ;) :D
-
:hmm: Kind of hard to call it bad luck when you knew there was a problem that needed attention...but...either way, it sux. ;) Brake problems are NOT something to press your luck with or just try to get a few more miles out of as you well know now. I'm glad that you or anyone else was not hurt  .

Carmine... I have urathane in mine now and I can't wait to get them out. I have the stock rubber bushings waiting to go in as soon as I can find the time to do it. The urathane bushings make a lot of noise and drive me nuts. We dropped them one time and covered everything in Synthetic grease, but that only lasted about 4 months and they are back to being noisy again  . My springs are the Hell Creek Suspensions springs so I contacted them and they sent me the rubber bushings as they said they have had the same trouble with them and are now building all of thier leaf springs wiith rubber bushings. I guess if you went to the trouble and expense of using greaseable bushings, bolts & sleeves it would be OK. I have those on our YJ from RE and they stay quiet.

Waterpump pulley clearance...
BLHTAZ replied to DirtyComanche's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Sounds like the wrong pulley or pump. The rpoblem with spacing the pulley out is the belt is not going to line up correctly and will either come off or at least make a lot of noise. I would try to find a pulley that you know is correct for your vehicle and compare it to what you have to be sure you have the right one to start with. -
Correct...there is no grease packing in those bearings.
