The guy I got from 242 TC from just grafted a 351 & C6 into his 89 XJ. So I would think a 302 would go in an MJ. Is there a lot of tech diff between a 302 & 351?

I'm on my 3rd MJ because their not main-stream. Kind of a dare to be different thing. Other than the ocassional drive to the woods or taking a 160 pound dog to the corner market with me I reaaly don't need it. Actually been thinking about selling it, but, as soon as I do I know the lawn mower will need to hauled to the shop.

If you keep the dog & he lives outside forget trying to have a "nice" lawn. From experiemnce I'd do the two sections at different times, like 6 months apart. It gives the dog a place to play & dump while one section is trying to take hold. If you have weeds why not spray the whole section with ROUNDUP & let all the weeds and grass die. I can tell you if you don't all the weeds and crab grass will come up with a vengenance in the new stuff you seed or sod you lay down. I removed 2 - 3' layer in back yard and put down sod. The weeds came right back thru the sod. I can control the weeds with spray, but, the crab grass resists everything I've tryed so far. Lawn looks like crap. In front I sprayed with Grass & weed killer and let it die. Left it that way for 6 months with perodic spraying evry time I seen anything green out there. Then I rototilled it and seeded it with a good brand of seed in Sept. By Dec it was lookun good. I only have problems with an ocassional weed now & then trying to take hold in the Spring. But a once over with Weed-B-Gon takes care of them. Good luck. "

Well I guess you do know the red head down the street since you have provided a photo of her. Obviously she is the least burdsome of the group to haul around in the MJ & could at least ride inside the vehicle. Thats nicer than having to convers thru the slider. :doh:

I had a similiar problem with a parking light. It turned out that the bulb socket wiring in the socket was shorting out. Can't remember if this affected the rear lights. But it popped fuses.

Well it is rather insulting. Some of the nicest & more intelligent people I know are on the heavy side. In my opinion, for what it's worth, it reflects worse on the antagonist displaying the insulting material than it does on the intended victims. Kind of advertises that the sign owner is possibly on the lower end of the IQ scale and has a lack of compassion for others who may, or may not be, in the condition their in because of measures beyond their control. As for intercourse with skinny or fat girls, well I've found that there is not a whole lot of difference in the act if your just out for self gratification, wham-bam-thank you mam. But, if you dislike overweight women and your still having sex with them instead of the knock-out red head down the street, hmmm, maybe you need to look in the mirror, or reflect on your attributes or lack there-of. Fat, skinny, dumb or intelligent don't mean squat, it's all better if they have a personality that is out going and plesant and can spell their own name. Mechanical repair fairly simple. Need a part - raid the the neighbors Cherokee (that's closer than the JY). Easy to de-construct & re-build it the way you want it. MPG: Not the best - but not the worst. It smallness facilitates garage parking without damaging the wife's car. Replacement if needed - fairly inexpensive. :drool:

Maybe you have the water leak problem I had on both doors. On the upper A pillar on both doors there is a rubber strip that was added by AMC to stop just this problem. It took me quite a while to find the leak that was dumping mucho water into the MJ on both sides. I found it by accident when sitting in the truck on a rainy day. I just happened to look down at the door sill and notice a trickle of water coming from under the sill and sliding down behind the carpet edge. When I opened the door I tracked it back up to the top of the door and the rubber strip on the pilliar. The strip was kind of stretched & sagging from age just enuf to let the water slide under the strip & get against the side of the body (insead of running down the strip) & making a run all the way to under the sill. I kind of pulled the strip out a little & squeezed a little adhesivse glue on its full length and pessed it back in to place & duct taped it there for a day until the adhesive dryed. Removed the tape and haven't had a leak in the past year on either side. The rubber strips can be purchased from Team Cherokee if yours are missing or unusable. Thats the strip. Your paying for insurance & don't want to use it, doesn't make any sense. My insurance never went up for being in an accident. I once tryed to give a guy a break for an accident when he was at fault, he still tryed to screw me by not paying, so my lawyer called him and asked him for his lawyers address. I do know she's replacing an existing 231. So there is a possibility the input shafts might be a little different lenngth. I called her & she says the input on the 231 protrudes aprox 5/8" out the front of the 231. I guess we'll need to know the lenght of her tranny output shaft & whether it's a 4 or 5 speed.

Never gave it much thought being an automatic user, but a young lady just ask me if she could use a 231 out of an AW4 behind her 88 with MT. I told her I didn't think it would bolt up, but, not being an expert on the subject I would ask some guru's who could give us the correct facts. And if not what she would need to do to make it work. I forgot to ask if it was a 4 or 6. HELP. :hmm:

Ran the MJ up on ramps & press. washed the trany/trf case area in anticipation of make-un the swap to the 242. Cleaned up the 242 before I take it down to make sure it is good to go.
