  1. Where does the other end, end?
  2. If they were swap-un in 84 -86 Mustangs somebody was cookun de books. Only 89 & newer vehicles qualified I thought.. :hmm:
  3. Nice resurrection of the trailer. Now a little paint on the scanoe to match the MJ & trailer & your ready to launch. Outstanding job.
  4. Owned many guns off and on. Then switched to bow hunting as it is more chalenging endeavor. Last trip out bagged a spike elk. But haven't got off my butt in a few years to get it done again. Now just own a Makrov 9mm as a bedside tool. Unlike Flordia, Oregon puts you in the slammer for hunting deer/cougars with a dog.
  5. The heck with the heads and crazy indian, bypass that make a run to Deadwood, they got slots there. Win any cash split it with CC buddies.
  6. Could be if you get cramps over it. :rotf:
  7. Sounds like a fun idea. I vote for an "MJ of the Quarter" and "Member of the Year". Less frequent recognitions just adds a lil more luster/significance to the accolade given and requires less work, i.e strain, tension, etc., on the unpaid staff running this outfit. My 2c worth of rant. Got to fix that dent someday.
  8. Cyl compression s/b between 120 - 150 psi. Your engine is tired. Rings are probally worn out. I'm betting cyl 1 & 4 have some valve problems (burnt, warped, bad cam lobes) . Dumping magical treatments in it ain't gonna help.
  9. Thanks for the tip on rockauto. They have what I need (BCA/National seal) for the shaft & yoke on my 242 front output. Strange other dealers don't seem to stock it.
  10. What you find under the shingles depends on who the manufactuer was and what part of the country the mfg home was built for. State codes also apply. I've done a couple and their no more diff. than a stick home. Less roof pitch so less chance of slipping off & busting your a--. Stop by a Lowes or HD and they can enlighten you on shingles and retainers and the required spacing of nails/staples. Good luck
  11. Just a ? on an 89 242J front output shaft size. The one I'm about to put in the MJ has a dia of approx 1.380". The 231 has approx a 1.010 shaft, about a 1/4" diff. They require seals with a considerable difference in outside dia. Is this normal? The reason I ask is because I can't locate a seal that is about a 2.735 outside dia. NAPA couldn't find one & every parts dealer I found on the internet list all seals & yokes as fitting the 231/242. I guess they trying to say theres only one size & I ain't got it. Weird the input & rear ouput shafts are identical to the 231. What have I got here?. Image Not Found
  12. Changed the oil & filter and hauled the old MJ parts laying around the garage to the dump.

Purpose of trip, to visit son in Indianapolis and other old friends strung out across the country. Didn't get many pics. If I can post em I'll put em on, but, for some reason Photo Bucket won't post my pics anymore. Don't know whats goin on there. I'll try & figure it out. My avatar gone also. Got some pics of son's 45' sailboat at Benton Harbor (Out of water for renovation) and visit to Jackson Hole and Pueblo other than that just pics of family and friends.

    Trips Over

After 7250 (aprox) miles, 17 states and 41 days I finally got home today. Cheapest gas on trip in Amirillo TX @ 2.15, highest Stanfield OR today at 3.09. Best casino Mt Pleasant, MI, worst Harrahs @ Tunica MS. Best weather at Jackson Hole, WY, worst Memphis, TN. Best food in Colorado Springs, CO, can't remember name of place. Had fun and no committments to be any place, at any time, other than where I wanted to be. Can't hope for more than that. Funs over, now I gotta get the full time in the MJ before the snow flakes arrive.
  19. Been on the road for 3 weeks criss-crossing the US. Have only spotted 1 MJ in 3K plus miles. That was at the the 19 mile marker on 51 south of Dyersburg, TN.. Headed into Texas and SW next week, maybe the dryer country will reveal more surviving MJ's than the rust belt areas I,ve been in. Did get to tour some of the new Speedway complex shops at Bownsburg, IN. Checked out a couple of the Indy cars and some neat dragsters under going mods. New Honda Civic is averaging 40 MPG. Not bad considering mt's, city & 70 MPH crusing speeds.
  20. Combo looks ok, but, it will fold like spaghetti right on the corner where the upright is located with very little side impact. Goodbye lower qtr. panel. :hmm:
  21. Bit of advise on the hair dryer routine. Get the glass so hot that the glue is almost like melted butter. Wear gloves or lose your fingerprints. I did this on three occassions and suceeded only on the last attempt. On the first two try's I thought it was peeling off fine with slight pressure, well, it wasn't slight enough. The glass almost has to drop off by itself when heated all over. Good luck
  22. My guess is thats a repaint. Wouldn't the VIN indicate it came with olympic trim pkg. I thought my old red 4x4 one did, but, its been awhile since I checked the VIN on it. It needs some fresh red on it also.
  23. And remember you have to be using the low beams to active the hot wire to the OEM fog light switch. Fog lights won't work if high beams are activated, well not legally in most states. However I got to admit I jerry-rigged mine so they can work independently of the orig switch.
  24. This stimulus carnage was created by dip-$#!&s who have never touched an engine in their life-time, nor gottten grease under theirn finger nails. Wrecking yards are gonna be over flowing and JU parts prices rising.
  25. Oh, lets say $75 an hour plus lot-o-beer. If kin folk involved don't touch it. You'll never hear the end of anything that goes wrong with it even it's ten years down the road. :brows:
