75 (indicated) is good enough for me. I don't plan to road trip in my MJ but do drive it on the Interstates around town. If I want to go faster, I've got a hemi Ram that feels a lot more solid at speed (and quieter).

If you don't ask, you don't get. That being said, you're not crazy. There may be someone willing to pay that price, but it's not me.

Nice looking interior. What did the buckets come out of?

Interior Catalytic Converter heat shield/pad thing
Keyav8r replied to Jess's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Just finished doing some floor repair and found that same white insulation under the padding. Like you, I assume it's for additional heat insulation. While repairing the driver's side floor, I separated the carpet from the padding and checked the padding for moisture, mold and mildew and found it to be in good contition. Had to remove some rust flakes that were stuck to it but was able to reuse it. The carpet was in pretty good shape with the exception of some wear in the driver side foot well and some cracking of the plastic insert. I dyed the carpet with a mix of Rit fabric dyes and got fairly close to the original color. You have to clean it well before dying. I vacuumed several times, scrubbed it with a strong Simple Green and water mix, rinsed it several times and let it sun dry. Mixed the powdered dye with hot water in a 2 gallon garden sprayer and went over the carpet several times until I ran out of dye. Let the carpet sun dry again and then draped it over a couple of sawhorses and washed the excess dye out with a garden hose. Let it sun dry again and installed in the truck (padding having been installed first). Alternate cleaning method is to take the carpet to a coin operated car wash - did this when I dyed the carpet for my 88 (advantage is having pressure soap wash and rinse - disadvantage is having to load the soaked carpet and take it back home to dry). If you have a pressure washer at home you could use it to clean and to remove excess dye. Just don't get the nozzle too close as you might blow some of the nap off the backing. Sorry, no photos.- 2 replies

The website offers two chrome plated options, reconditioned and used. Not saying there was an OEM chrome plated option.

Yep. That sucker has stealth written all over it!

I think a modest RTR would be appropriate. To paraphrase Paul "Bear" Bryant - Don't celebrate in the end zone, act like you've been tthere before. And, we've been there and here more than once before.

Starting off well. My MJ is back on the road and Bama is playing for the National Championship (again).
-
Some might look at that and ask "Why?". I think the owner/builder might answer " because I wanted to and I could". And, I can identify with that.
-
The price has increased to $151 for reconditioned gray with machined face. Considering they're probably harder to get now than then and the general tendency for prices to increase over time, the old supply and demand thing comes into play, not a bad price. Don't think that I'd pay $297 for chrome, but then my unicorn is a set of original 10 holes (with rivets).

Original/aftermarket Mud Flaps

Gee, I wonder who the seller was on those? -
Got the shiny side up and three of the four rubber thingies down. Will have Mosby back on all four for the new year. Merry Christmas to all my fellow MJ addicts!
-
Merry Comanche Christmas to all from the Great State of Alabama where this year it's warmer here than in Los Angeles! And, let's not forget that Jesus is the reason for the season. May you and your families be blessed during the Christmas season and the New Year to come.

Photoshopped! Those things don't exist in that state in real life.

Yeah, how about that NAPA part number? $5 each sounds a lot better than $25-$30 each! Thanks, Don. I'll try to pull one out and check out the stainless bolt. They've got to be less than $5 each.

Doing a little work on Mosby and noticed that when I close the door it lifts up on the latch pin. Tells me either the door hinge pins or the holes in the hinges are worn. I'm hoping it's the pins as that should be an easier fix IF pins are available. Does anyone know of a source for the pins? Has anyone had this problem and how did you fix it? BTW - just put a Grand Cherokee door seal on the driver's side. The seals are very close in overall length (I had to cut about 3/4" from the GC seal to fit in the MJ opening) but the GC seals have a thicker cross section. Not sure if the seals were from a WJ or ZJ (pulled them a good while and I suffer from CRS). Closing the door now requires a FIRM pull to get it to latch. I'll try to post a side by side photo when I do the passenger side.

Aw, go ahead and jump in. You can't offend anyone because we're all either pretty thick-skinned or offensive ourselves! Have to admit it's pretty funny to watch them try to bail out and find the doors are remotely locked..

Trussville - near Birmingham
-
Don - that's probably what I'll eventually do. I want a good fit and appearance and I expect any MJ specific liner I could find would be scratched and dis-colored to some extent.
-
Sure would like to find a good SWB bed liner somewhere around AL. Probably need to post in Wanted section again.
-
That looks too good to be real! Was the truck in a nitrogen storage facility since it came off the line?
-
Pull-A-Part in Birmingham, AL lists both Comanche and Commanche. I have an alert set up for when they get a Commanche on the yard. Always wanted to see one of those. Must be a really rare model.

I know this kind of an apples/oranges comparison, but I have a 2014 Ram 1500 with the 5.7 hemi and the 8 speed auto. I like the 8 speed so much I'd buy the truck again with any of the engine options. Should be a great combo with the diesel engine. I'd definitely go for the Ram diesel before the Canyon/Colorado version.

10-4 on wrecking the budget. And, there have been times when I was working on the MJ I threatened to condemn it to eternal damnation.

Does anyone have a source, other than JY, for the nuts that hold the flares to the fender? They are 5mm and have a captured washer that is free to rotate on the nut. I can get 5mm nuts from several sources but would like to have the OEM nuts available when I replace the inner fender liners. There are a few that are missing.
