  1. (because the Slant-6 is even more bulletproof than our beloved Inline-6.) really? ha ha well everyone has an opinion.... the slant 6 was ok engine ( low profile)but it was nothing special. and very low HP, please come to your senses and don't try to graft that ancient engine into anything.
  2. Why just lift the front? why not use the rear lift from the 86 as well... did I miss something? as for just liftng the front....nahh..
  3. here is a set (pair) 45watt lights $145.00 http://www.ebay.com/itm/300806622426?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649
  4. 4x4 Comanche were all Hi Pinion Dana 30 from factory, if someone has replaced your axle with a low pinion, then yes the gears will work.
  5. well yes I did but to be fair the line it replaced looked to be original ! (and I replaced all three at same time ,you can tell when your standing on the brakes.. I used the ss line for durability and over the last 6-7 years its been in service it has taken some abuse from flipped rocks and tree parts and its still holding its ground..
  6. I used the XJ set,as for the rear line? the connections we the same as the factory MJ line so I don't know what would be different.?
  7. while you at it just run a new ground to the fuel pump .....
  8. I run the dirtbound shroud now, and 3 80watt fans I bought on amazon. the fans were 15 each . they pull a ton of air. and so far they are incredible I was out just yesterday and the temps were right at 90 deg and we did alot of hard wheeling up tough hills most the day and i was very impressed how the temps stayed dead on 195. so if 120 bucks is in your budget thats what I spent on this upgrade. ..Now I did run two factory fans for several years with no complaints. but they could not keep the temps pegged like the new setup in very hi demand situations ..but they never let over heat to happen.. so you can just get two factory units from junk yard and they will mount right up on both side of the rad and work great.
  9. you will be good with the 100amp unit. and if you add off road lights down the road go LED..they use very little power. I run three electric fans in the dirt bound shroud and have them to start and run all at same time and its just a small power drop at startup .(100amp alt) but it sounds like you have a weak alternator or you need to update all your grounds. and your MJ will work much better after you update the grounds .
  10. I have never had a long bed to look at ..so i don't know what it takes to make the short.. seems like its just (shorthen them?) anyway I like to see that Nates is building MJ rear bumpers and sliders.. its nice.. nobody else that i know makes these MJ parts... good job Nates.. I made my own..but with the prices he is selling these at I can say its well worth it. Nates Rocks for supporting the MJ!
  11. Right here is why these clubs and forums rock... the info that is available is just amazing.. Nice repair
  12. a little kid called mine a monster truck... that was cool
  13. follow the link posted in the first reply (great info) there can be several reasons.. on my MJ it was a weak ground in the harness that runs along the firewall i removed the split duct and ran fresh grounds to both the injector ground and the second ground that has the tps and other sensors you will know the grounds by the duct tape. there is a part in the tps adjustment the has you check for the ground resistance and that was good info and tarfgeted my issue no more crazy idle sice i ran new groung leads to all the grounds in the harness . and it don't take but an hour to do it.... my 2cent
  14. well to start is all your preference (there is no one answer) and what your going to want to spend and if your going to take your MJ off road..ect you can buy lift parts and get your MJ lifted 6" by spending 4-6 hundred on a basic lift kit parts, you can buy a lift kit package for say 700-900 or long arm kit for 1300-2000. 35" tires and steel wheels will cost you 1200 to 2000 depending what you buy..37" more. as other have stated if you want a rig that will holdup and perform on and off road you will in time have to upgrade everything. so you will end up spending $3500.00 to say 5k depending on what you buy and if you do all the work. get online read up do some research and start spending on what you like , its fun I run a RC long arm, SOA,6.5" PORC springs, custom built steering ,custom built track bar, RC Hydro shocks, PitBull Rocker 35" radial tires on 10" steel wheels. to buy the stuff today to reproduce my lift and steering system (I do all my own work) you would spend about 1500.00 that's just lift and steering. tires and wheels would run 1700.00 to 1800. hope this info helps you
  15. ACDELCO Part # 3342417 {#19135975} Remanufactured; 105 Amp GENERATOR w/A/C; DELCO CS130 105 AMPS
  16. Nice...! glad to hear you found it. that's always a nice feeling
  17. FYI dirt bound off-road sell a nice switch that installs like this one. and it have two different temp settings, dual sensor. http://www.dirtboundoffroad.com/jeep-cherokee-xj/cooling/standard-fan-controller/
  18. not everybody will get the exact same lift.. the springs are not always going to be the same due to several factors.. I took off my 4x4 rear springs and used 2wd rear springs. but thats after in installed a factory AMC Comanche 20 rear axle and I did use after market pads that were 3x longer and bit over inch taller..so the 2wd springs still gave the MJ over 6" lift soa and I did 6.5 front springs to get level. every truck will be different for various reasons. with factory d35 and 4x4 springs that seem to be as good as new did give the MJ very high lift and at that point I had a 1.75 puck in front ..so it was like a 7"+ lift that's why I ended up with 2wd springs..so if someone tells me they got 7" soa lift on their MJ I do not doubt them.
  19. at 6" lift and above ..If you want the steering system to perform well, last and not limit your front suspension travel, not fail when your off road. just ditch the factory setup. don't try to use zj or any other factory stuff. if you really want a solid system go after market. sure you can use factory stuff but it don't work correctly and its always binding up and limits your front travel its really a bad deal. do some research and get a good setup that will work right and hold up. I run a hi steer knuckle adapter (JB4x4) and after market hd steering parts. best thing i did with the steering after trying other band aids. there are good options, my 2cent http://www.jb4x4.com/store/jbrsb.htm
  20. Found this one for 4k with AMC 401. http://sandiego.craigslist.org/nsd/cto/3732488931.html Now that is the $#!&.. and priced right!
  21. ... he lost me at 350 conversion. Yup....same here
  22. .??. Well I'm sure it would cost you 5 times more money to have a shop rebuild your axle . If you are hearing noise take it back have them check it. Could be several things. Other than that.looks fine I don't see any issues in the picture.
