We did a 5.3/4500 swap in a Scout at the shop I was at. Had plenty of power and it was fun to drive! I seem to remember the only way to put the 4500 behind the 5.3 was with a pricey bell housing from Advance Adapters. Others have done 4.8/5.3 swaps with AX15s as well though I haven’t personally seen one. Good to to see you again!

I love the idea of a Gamber rig! This event is popping up all over the country. I’d love to participate at some point. Realky too too bad you’re starting with a green ‘92 Eliminator. That’s a super rare color/trim combo. Probably pretty close to the end in production numbers too.

I think back to several movies I watched growing up that I was definitely too young to be watching. Movies that I’d be watching tv with my dad and there it would be: that little smirk while flipping through channels. “I get a kick out of this movie... your mom probably wouldn’t agree, but it’s pretty funny.” Blazing Saddles... Airplane!... Young Frankenstein... Some of my best memories are with my dad and these little moments. Now there are so many stupid humor movies out there that I know word for word! Thanks, Dad.

I had really good luck with my 10 hole rims using stripper as well. Let the chemicals do their thing, neutralize them, then a quick polish, and finish up with s good clear coat.

Not your exact application, but I’ve had excellent results with welding a nut to any stuck plug or broken bolt in the past. I’ve got zero time for easy-outs.

What say the internet? KCs or no? Truth be told the lights are some good but cheaper housings I had in my stash that match the Jeep’s patina. Friend of mine a while back gave me these covers and they just happened to click on perfectly. Thoughts?

I’m with Pete on this one. I’d get in there with a slide hammer and pit pit what be pulled out and then finish up with a hammer/dolly. Skim coat of bondo to finish. I think the problem you run into with cutting/welding donor sheet metal is going to be trying not to affect the surrounding area with additional warpage from heat. The damage is done, eh? I’d keep the fix as localized as possible.

I’ve been trying to find a reason to find my way to Alabama to meet Don and now I feel like there’s no point. It is with an immensely heavy heart that it’s time to say goodbye. They were inject molded for Archer Brothers Racing out of Duluth MN and then sold off to the dealership in CA that put together the 100 trucks. There were a small amount of NOS parts still sitting on shelves a few years ago... all except the one piece on the driver side right behind the cab. I picked up the last set they had. They sat around as I didn't know what to do with them but knew they couldn't sit around on a shelf anymore. Then a few months ago I sold what I had to the owner of #24 as he's doing a full restoration. Good luck with the search. It'll definitely be a tough one.

Been driving the CJ everyday lately. Changed gears after quitting my job at the 4x4 shop before Thanksgiving. As of this past week I’m now employed at a cabinet shop. I know... I know... I’m not exactly known for my carpentry skills. In fact, I don’t all that much care for working with wood. Since moving to where we are now a huge goal of mine was to work in the same town. See, I was driving 25 miles/45+ minutes to work... I couldn’t stand the owner anymore so that didn’t help either. Now I’ve got a leisurely .75 mile commute to work. Slightly more than I had at my bridge shop job in Minnesota where I walked to everyday. Can I walk to my new job? Yup!... that’s the plan. The weather has been bad this week though. Anyhow to circle back, I’ve been driving the CJ everyday lately. ... except today.
