AMC20 rear disk conversion
88whitemanche replied to gogmorgo's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
No I didn’t have to, the difference was only about 1/2” difference from swapping... I would have to measure the shafts but haven’t found a way to measure the axle shafts to know which ones to get... Haven’t even been able to pull them for that matter (me being lazy) -
AMC20 rear disk conversion

What’s up fellas don’t have much to say about disc brakes... i did find that link hornbrod mentioned above but it seemed too much of custom fab to try and swap over to disc brakes... I'm also trying to find new axle shafts for the amc 20 with the 5x4.5 lug pattern (all have 5x5.5) I haven’t reached out yet to the companies that make them to custom make me a set... And that’s if they want to as far as driveshafts go, since I already had to cut mine down for the ax15 swap (4cyl) not sure if my current length would help -
Jeep zj seats to xj 2 door seat swap
88whitemanche replied to 88whitemanche's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
They do not fold forward, the 2 door xj fold forward to allow passengers to enter the rear... unlike the 4 door xjs/zjs where the seats only have a tilt option... -
Jeep zj seats to xj 2 door seat swap
88whitemanche replied to 88whitemanche's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Yes they are for my 98xj 2 door... i want to put in leather seats and saw an ad on craigslist for a complete set for dirt... just wished the pictures worked though -
Found mine off of a 96 dodge Dakota with the 2.5 engine....Dodge Dakotas from 96-98 models with the 2.5 had the ax15 backed behind it... I actually have a spare I wouldn't mind letting go when your ready to make that swap

Just ordered an nv3550 and the clutch parts needed... i didn't go with the centerforce clutch disk this time but I went with the 84 4cyl Camaro clutch disk from rockauto.com The ax15 I'll keep it laying around until I get a chance to try and rebuild it...

Clutch smell taking off on 1st
88whitemanche replied to 88whitemanche's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Your right, I was in stop and go traffic for over an hour that day and figured why it was making that smell... Welp, the Ax15 is starting to show its age... well I already knew it had a bad 2nd gear synchro and I figured I could nuture it along (since I got the trans for $150) until it finally gives out but 3rd gear synchro is starting to show it's face and the used throwout bearing I threw in is starting to squeal, so I'll keep driving it until it finally goes then I'll drop the trans to get rebuilt and get new clutch parts to put in... does anyone know the part # to the all metal throwout bearing for the external slave ? Thanks in advance -

What's up everyone so I've always had a leaky oil filler cap and never found a solution, always heard about using an bicycle tube and cut to size and put it under the cap...then I came across a YouTube video to something similar to the same problem I had... ended using a spectre part # 4310 its in the accessories aisle in auto zone Worked like a charm, hasn't leaked yet...

Save a little bit more and buy long arms, just went long arm on mine and the ride quality is amazing compared to short arms... i haven't been able to flex it yet, still gotta install my boostwerks transfer case linkage and install the front driveshaft

Ok that is a xj/mj shifter... have you been able to drive it? Maybe when you installed the shifter the little plastic ball didn't settle in the pivoting hole..that's the only thing that I could think of that could've went wrong... as far as hitting the console while shifting into the lower part of the box it's normal. mine hits and moves the console all together

Tps probably got wet, test it through cruisers tips and adjust -
Most definitely, this year I haven't driven this truck that much as I should, my Cherokee has taken that toll.... but I'll be driving it more often as I can switch trucks week to week and take advantage of the current upgrades I have done to it...

Do you have any pictures?

A lot of people dislike rustys products because they don't last (breakage) or their customer service towards warranty... then there's your die hard rustys off-road fans...it can go both ways your better off piecing together your front end lift than trying to buying a whole kit... And/or at least get the (4.5") rear leaf springs from rusty's off-road or get some custom made ones from general spring

Cherokee/comanche shifters are the same wether from ax4/5//Ax15 except the mounting plates that mount on the transmission... if your using the ax4 mounting plate how are you shifting at all? When I tried to swap my ax5 mounting plate to the Ax15 it was too small to fit on the transmission I had to get one for an Ax15

Instrument cluster cover?
88whitemanche replied to 88whitemanche's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Ok after messin with the dash cover I figured it out... never knew those little holes were to have the switch panel to hug onto while being screwed into place woodgrain panel installed will show previous switch panel I grabbed off of a Comanche with a bed light, I guess by seeing this type of panel never knew what to do until I started messing with the switch panel off a Cherokee today...
