Total removal and relocate. Anybody done/tried it? I did on mine. Will post pics soon. Pretty straight forward for me, but then again my truck is pretty well stripped of all non essentials including a heavily modified/cut down electrical harness. I guess what I'm saying is don't attempt it on your daily.

7120 is the head casting you want. Sorry, that probably wasn't all that helpful. -

This thread is now about who has the largest stockpile of spare MJ parts. Bonus points for who has the most tail lights.

I have to agree with Jeep Driver, for the most part. I'm not an expert, i am not an NRA member, i am not a doomsday prepper, i am staunchly middle- -of-the-road, average joe amd this is purely my opinion and should be taken with a heaping tablespoon of salt. In my opinion there is no true need for a semi automatic rifle for hunting, but then again as JD said the 2nd isnt refering to hunting. I am not a hunter either, so if there is a reason for needing a semi-rifle I'm all ears. It is my understanding and belief that a well armed populace is the only thing that can prevent the rise of a tyrannical government. I have faith that America will be here long after i have passed, but ill be damned if i let it fall while i still breathe. Whether foreign domestic. Nobody needs a semiautomatic rifle, but should they have the freedom to purchase one? In my opinion, yes. A quick google search reveals nearly twice as many people died in motor vehicle accidents as in gun related incidents in 2019. Yet we arent baning cars or even super cars that go 200mph. Nobody needs to go 200mph, heck police are about the only people who might need to go 100mph, yet almost every car made can go over 100mph. So how do we stop people from getting killed in vehicle accidents? We have laws that govern how and when you can drive and there are progressive consequences for violating said laws. The same should be applied to guns. We don't ban sports cars even though nobody needs them and as such we shouldnt ban semi or even fully automatic weapons. There should be and needs to be strict laws surrounding guns, but still allow for personal freedoms. As with 75% of things i think it ultimately should come down to individual states decision. Thats why we have them. America is to big of a country with to many difference of opinions to have sweeping federal laws that arent supported by 2/3 or even 3/4 of the populace. Its funny, after saying all of that, i have to admit i don't own any guns myself.

Burping the Renix Closed System
ftpiercecracker1 replied to Drahcir495's topic in MJ Tech: DIY Projects and Write-Ups
Ya, its a PITA. Next time i need to do it i will definitely try this technique. Although I'm hoping to have converted to an open system before to long. -
And? All good things must come to an end. But then again you can still get parts for the model T soooooo, if there is enough money to be had parts will be made available. The difference will be cost. Ive been wondering more and more over the years what will replace the XJ as the go-to offroad platform and when/if it would be a wise investment idea to buy up a bunch.

My Comanche 88 shutter and shakes in 1st gear
ftpiercecracker1 replied to Kike's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
The input shaft aligning with the pilot bearing in the crank is what keeps the clutch centric to the pressure plate does it not? If that bearing is destroyed/missing it would allow the clutch to rotate off center and"wobble/shake" on takeoff as force is applied. I had the same problem verbatim. Swapped engines without installing a PB. Truck shook like an earthquake on takeoff unless you released the clutch suuuuuuuuper easy. Dropped the trans, installed a PB and all problems went away. -

Sounds like the pilot bearing to me. -
Burping the Renix Closed System

Interesting. I always backed my truck up an incline, the steeper the better, then removed the temp sender in the far back, driver side corner of the head and filled the reservoir until no more bubbles came out. -
Ya i have to concur with the rest of the guys. Yes eliminators are desirable, but that thing looks like a basket case. I would only pay $500 if it was a 4x4 and the interior/engine bay are all original and unmolested. Otherwise i would offer them scrap value ($250-350) Its probably going to be a pain just to get it out of there. All that said i would still encourage you to try and get it. Good luck 👍

I don't watch basketball, but to hear of his passing in such a sudden and violent way was still jarring. RIP.

How does the rim engage with the track? -
Grind'em till you find'em! As has been stated before, manuals are for fun/heavy duty work. Autos are for commuters, stop/go traffic, inner city. My current truck is an auto and to be entirely honest I probably wouldnt want it to be a manual. As for my MJ, she is a manual and i love it, but my holy grail is a long bed, 4x4, auto, column shift. Sweet sweet trans tunnel real estate.

So, it has two clutches? Regular automotive and a centrifical, like on a chainsaw? Otherwise i dig the sh*t out of it. -
Uber? Taxi? What is your destination?

Ya, its ok if this thread dies. Can you just delete it so it doesnt take up space?

The reason I'm asking is because I'm looking at buying a different (used) truck. My current truck is an 02 tundra 4x4 TRD SR5 extra cab with the 4.7 She has about 240k on the clock but still works perfect inside and out. My biggest problems are the lack of towing/payload, poor mpg, and lack of passenger space. The rear seat is really only suitable for children. I don't like how bloated the new tundras look and was unsure if they are as utterly indestructible as the first gen. The crewmax has the space and towing i want but man the mpg are just atrocious. Not to mention the cost of entry. Ive also considered going diesel. They toocan have spacious cabs, excellent towing/payload ratings and decent mpg, but the cost of entry and cost of diesel is what has kept me away.
