  1. Look at where he is from. Don't think winter is a concern :D
  2. Just looked some more. Could be your EGR/ charcoal canister solenoid?
  3. The blue one is just a vent line. At one time it had a square foam block covering the nipple. The other thing is some sort of vacuum control solenoid. Just looked in a 86 FSM and saw no mention of it, but I am missing the wiring diagrams.
  4. Rear ZJ springs are pretty darn soft. You will lose height, but also handling as the truck will tend to bottom out in the front. IMO, you'ld be better off cutting a coil to drop the front.
  5. Just became my background :D
  6. If I wasn't going to be unemployed in a month I would bid on it. That is pretty cool. Especially since there isn't a friggin chrysler logo on there. (Just a bitter AMC guy..... :D)
  7. OK, I'll bite. 1) I drink LaBatts and bourbon ( usually not at the same time) 2) I'm a Deadhead 3) I like to blow things up (shoot pumpkins, milk jugs etc.Set off fireworks and airbags) 4) I wish I lived in the mountains 5) Um...I need a job! :D
  8. Maybe that is what the mystery flopping connector is for that bilgamesh has?
  9. Hyundai doesn't want Dodge. Nissan does. Hyundai really just wants Jeep and possibly the LX cars (300 and Charger). The big problem with LX is the reliance on Daimler parts for it. Anyone picking that up would be stuck buying parts from them.
  10. I was hoping the 3.7 would be another "good" engine since it is based on the 4.7. It seems to be OK reliability wise, but it is underpowered and gets absolutely lousy gas mileage.
  11. I think they are OK looking, but at least for your location, it is actually functional as well. But then again, I'm an old redneck from way back :D
  12. Sorry but I really have to disagree with you here. The 4.7 and 5.7 engines are very good motors. And the RFE series trannys are tough as nails. There were some early 5.7 valve spring issues, but they went to a different design. I would love a full size J truck with a 5.7 Hemi and a 68 RFE behind it, or a JK based "Scrambler" with a 4.7 and a 545RFE. There are plenty of 4.7's out there in early WJ's with upwards of 200K on the clock that haven't been cracked open.
  13. I have worked with Nissan, Renault and Hyundai. Hyundai is actually the best of the three. Hyundai would be the most likely to build a Jeep P/U, as they do not have a truck...............
  14. "Shes a summer love for spring, fall and winter. she can make happy any man alive." I've heard that song a few million times, but only live twice. :( I was lucky enough to catch the Dead one last time at RFK for the last tour in 95. It's great to listen to the Grateful Dead channel on sirius and catch tunes from shows I was at. :chillin:
  15. You did unscrew the bump stop cups, correct? Just asking cause I see they are still on in the pics posted by Jeff.
  16. Thanks for the concern guys. Have no idea what door will open. I'm set til Dec 31st. If it was summer, I would probably suck down some unemployment for a while, but I will probably go stir crazy in the winter.
  17. What is the OGR forum? (so obviously it wasn't me!:)), and why do you relate it to me?

I see it has the rare refrigerator option.
  19. Found out yesterday that the entire technical training department at Chrysler will be out sourced by the end of the year. Oh well, on to another career..................
  20. OK, who has an extra bench assy near central NY so I can play with this idea? Maybe I'll have something to do if I lose my job with Mother Chrysler.
  21. Interesting idea... The console part would take a little thought as it would obviously move with the seats so you would have to be careful about placement of anything in front of it. And watch out for spillage as well!
  22. Not that I am prone to law breaking, but it would be hard to resist the drunken impulse to have that set of signs in my possesion
  23. as just an addendum to brents post. Check the little flapper under the rubber ccv grommet. they can get stuck closed or plugged with carbon. Also, there was a TSB on drilling a hole half way up the towers inside the valve cover. The thought was that under extended high rpm's, the tower opening would be immersed in oil causing the vacuum to pull oil in to the intake through the ccv grommet. I believe it was recommended to be a 1/2 inch hole. You are lucky that it is just pushing oil out the air cleaner. It only takes about 3 psi crank case pressure to blow out the rear main, front seal etc. Then you have Comanche ebola. :wall:
  24. because of the shifting issue, it kinda points to the TPS. The AW4 needs that input as well.
  25. Hmmm, just a left field thought here. What about removing the seat back assy, and the seat bottom from the frame, leaving the frame hooked to the brackets. Attaching the buckets to the lower seat frame, and just making both buckets move at the same time, like the bench, then making a console to fit the frame btwn the seats?
