  1. Let's be sure what it is you need to replace. If it is the switch the column does not need to be disassembled. If it is the cylinder, it does.
  2. Looks like a smart idea
  3. The ign switch is waaaay down on the column under the dash. No where near the cylinder. Is that what you are replacing?
  4. Hey SW, what is that outer shaft seal you have there?
  5. Of course you will have to find the ever elusive 4wd Caprice :D

    i love ebay

What? You mean 800 listings for Comanche is not just from private sellers? :fs1: The junk sellers did that to the AMC listings a few years back. Sucks.
  7. :nanner: . I have the black interior. One of the major reasons I bought it. First truck had the light blue. Nasty.

    Hey BLHTAZ

Only after mom strains it through her system. ;)
  9. I agree with keeping it. I just bought one off e-bay for $10 plus shipping. Mine isn't leaking just yet, but it is pretty scary looking.
  10. I saw that as well. There should be no need to lock tight them.
  11. I don't like the looks of that lower main bearing in the pic. Not the white stuff. There is damage on the edge where the lock is. What is that from?
  12. Water valve is in the heater hose line. Based on heater control position it will allow or restrict flow of hot coolant in to the heater core. A lot of people just eliminate them when they start leaking. So yours may no longer be there.

    Go Vikes!!

Opened up a serious can of whoop-@$$ on those Teddy Bears :D
  14. Love the look of Silverstars. Been squirreling away two perfect 16 inchers for 5 yrs just waiting to stumble across the matching pair.
  15. pink goes to the water valve
  16. I just used a thin blade screwdriver. Just be careful not to scratch or nick the crank. Lightly lubricate the new seal before installation.
  17. If it was a 2.5 he would have had to. True, but ... Yes, but I didn't know that when I asked about 2wd/4wd. I'm guessin' you don't really mean to, but sometimes your replies make you sound like a d!ck. :dunno:
  18. As your CCV looses it's ability to properly vent the crank case, the engine will begin to push combustion blow by in to the air box. As the water vapor and oil vapor combine it forms a whitish/ brownish foam. Look in the oil fill tube for almost any 4.7 and you will see the same stuff, as thats where the rocket scientists decided to put the PCV valve and the gasses condense on the colder plastic.
  19. Unscrew them from the knuckle and put a washer under them. Screw back in and check. Still rubbing? Add another or thicker washer.
  20. If it was a 2.5 he would have had to.
  21. 2.5 or 4.0? 2wd or 4wd?
  22. Yeah right. Lately it's been rough finding Jeeps in the local pully-our-parts, let alone something as new as a WJ. :( I got those a couple years ago off of Ebay of all places and installed them on my 90 (0 lift and 31s). I would start with car-part.com and search locally for WJ-specific parts like the rear axle assembly, then call up the places and ask if the lower control arms are still there. Or pay attention to Jeep sites that have WJ owners. They might throw them up in the classifieds after installing a lift. Although you might want to place an ad in the wanted section of those sites as a lot of people just throw stock parts away without thinking. I sold an extra pair on E bay a few years back :fool: . Funny if you bought 'em from me, huh?
  23. I would love to put that drivetrain in my MJ.
  24. Hey Pete, ya got a spare set of those sittin around?
