Soft Brake Pedal After New Parts And Bleeding
Jeep Driver replied to Rymanrph's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Cut you a 2x2 the length of the distance between the seat and the brake pedal when it is to the floor, you can use something between the seat and the 2x2 to protect the seat.....towel, old license plate.....whatever. Open bleeder, depress brake with 2x2, use seat to keep the 2x2 pressing the pedal to the floor, then close bleeder.......repeat. My wife usually helps with bleeding but I always find ways to do things on my own. -
2 hours work and you can have the D35 set up...................then look for a replacement. BTW.......with all the 'fear' going round about the D35........I carry and pull a lot of weight and mine hangs in there just fine. But I'm also looking for a replacement, I'd like to have the AMC20 with 4.11s. I want one of the Aussie lockers for the rear, I'm just not willing to put $300 and another $65 into a cover for the D35.

Battery To Cab Wiring
Jeep Driver replied to AeroNautical's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Are you wiring an amp? Years ago I bought a high end sound system for my Ranger and had it 'professionally' installed. The installer grounded the amp to the cab floor, three times over the years I lost ground and had to reground the amp. I intend at some point to reinstall the amp and speakers in the MJ. I will run the 8g wire from the block pictured above, that is also why I installed the ground block next to it, the amp will have a direct ground. Ground all your electronics and lights...etc..to the battery directly, do NOT use the body as a ground. Also note that the longer the run the larger the gauge of wire needed do to current drop. If you can, keep all relays near the source (battery) and keep you primaries as short as possible.........you can run 16g wire as triggers inside the cab and they can be as long as you need them. -
Battery To Cab Wiring

OReilly for the block. Look here- http://www.ebay.com/itm/8-GAUGE-WIRE-40-FT-AWG-20-FT-RED-20-BLACK-CABLE-SUPER-FLEXIBLE-PRIMARY-STRANDED-/281083799724 Can't beat that deal on wire for Amps and the like. I'm looking to run primary wire back to hitch to run the wench I have on the trailer........may look to 4 gauge and also install a jumper jack at the rear. -

Receiver Hitch/bumper
Jeep Driver replied to Jeep Driver's topic in MJ Tech: DIY Projects and Write-Ups
Image Not Found Image Not Found Image Not Found The bumper turned out OK.............not necessarily proud of it though. The receiver on the other hand is more than sufficient and that's what I was really after. It's not perfect but it will come off eventually when I paint the truck, I'll go over it again and clean it up a little better........Bondo will be my friend. I have about $100 bucks into it.......couldn't buy a bumper or a hitch for that. -
Yes, the XJs came with 4.10s...........that's where I got mine from. If you find one, just swap the entire axle........but yes, I'd use used gears. I too am looking for another alternative for my D35 but will not use the 8.8

Np 231 Transfer Case Problem
Jeep Driver replied to hillbilly51's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Your chain is stretched. Same thing happened with my XJ. I rebuilt mine. To answer the question of others....... When my little 2.5 does not what to pull 3000lbs worth of trailer and tractor up a steep incline (driveway or other), she goes into low. As long as I do not make a tight turn.........never a problem. -
