Stupid U Bolt Question
Jeep Driver replied to Jacob Ochs's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
No, they won't work. The Dana 35 has a tube diameter of 2-5/8". The Dana 44 has a tube diameter of 2-3/4". The Chrysler 8.25 used 3" tubes. You need u-bolts with a throat dimension of not more than 2-3/4". I can't have a 1/2 inch of space? No. -
Multiple Core Radiator?
Jeep Driver replied to Automan2164's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Regardless of 1 or 2 core..........matter of quality. I went cheap, with regret, now on 4th rad in a year. Omix-ADA gets my vote. -
Not to derail your thread...... In '83 I bought a 66 Dart exactly like the one in the pic, drove is through high school. Was looking for a 8.75 axle last night and came across this- http://swva.craigslist.org/cto/4409864775.html Identical car that is a basket case for $7K.........who knew........30 years ago? Used cars/trucks are getting real hard to find and expensive. Every time I see someone here.......yes HERE! cut up a MJ, I cringe, point my middle finger at the screen...... I appreciate the fact that you did not sell to some jackwad who intended to cut it up. :)

Here is a minty one- http://atlanta.craigslist.org/eat/cto/4392475306.html just south of you. MJs in the $4-6K range don't sell well in the south, the one above has been listed for months. http://atlanta.craigslist.org/nat/cto/4432102630.html typical for the $2500 range. http://knoxville.craigslist.org/cto/4388500034.html he'll never get what he is asking. IMO......your's is in the $2500-$2800 range. Advertise in the rust belt.......you may get more for someone willing to drive down to pick it up. Problem is........for those who have $5k to spend.......they ain't buying 25 year old MJs. Money is getting tight.

Need A Little Xj Help From The Mj People

Yours has the idle-up sensor. Unplug it and see if it makes a difference, if not, replace it with a 4.0 hose. -
Help With Seat Dilemma
Jeep Driver replied to Jeep Driver's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I picked up the XJ seats, done deal now. -
Or, sometimes 25 year old receivers just quit receiving.

I would look at your IAC first and see if it is even functioning. When was the last time you cleaned your throttle body/plate?

http://www.aliexpress.com/item/12V-delay-timer-relay-with-delay-adjustment-potentiometer-turn-on-off-switch-module-2pcs-lot/1454100936.html If you are insistent........persistent........brainy........ You could look for a delay relay, your input signal may last only 2 seconds but you could go through a second relay and adjust your time out to 4-5 seconds. The only risk I could see is over extending your starter run time by a second or so.

Mine will start in 2-3 seconds, cold, every time. I turn the key and wait about 2 seconds, turn to start......but will not start without a crack of the throttle, my idle air control has not worked since I got the truck. Getting there took going through the entire electrical system and replacing all the sensors........except of course the IAC, which I have no intention of swapping out, no need to. In fact the idle-up sensor in the power steering will go away too when I swap out the pump. The wife's 97 used to take 2-3 cranks to start also. Replacing the battery cables and cleaning the grounds and adding/upgrading the grounds solved that problem too. We still wait about 2-3 seconds to crank with hers to allow pump to build pressure but it starts up on the first try now.

Help With Seat Dilemma
Jeep Driver replied to Jeep Driver's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Thanks Don. This answers the question. I'm going to call today on the XJ seats. My plan is black and tan interior, black carpet, black and tan 97 doors (I'll spray match the lower section and keep the black trim), color match the console, color match the other panels, keep the dash, black on rear panel, material/color match the headliner. The XJ seats will get two tone black and tan leather. Just having to decide on spending $800-900 on seats, purchase and reupholster......... And of course the wife gave her input......... -

I bought a pair of Mountaineer seats that will not fit, I sold them last weekend. I'm looking at a pair of Honda S2000 seats that look like they will fit and the color is close (according to pic) but in real life they may not be a match of the '88 camel tan. He wants $300. Or I can buy what appears to be an excellent condition XJ pair that are gray for $150. The advantage is that they are bolt-in, I know they will fit. I contacted an upholstery shop that quoted me $700 for custom work- here is his work- Thinking longterm.........Which would you choose?

Pull it out and see if it's covered with muck......if so........clean it or replace it. I don't think it's that far of a reach at all.
