Hopefully I will get enogh downtime to watch the broncos slam the raiders In some sports bar tonight. The painters basement flooded in the recent weather... As a result I did not get to pick up the truck Saturday before I left. J truthfully I would have been Nervous having it sit in the driveway unlockable while I am out of town) I am to pick her up Friday after I get in from the trip. At least that is the plan. Keep them good thoughts coming And I will post the minute I have something worthy of attention.

Radio Has Me Goin Insane

When my radio quit working I just started driving with my banjo in my lap...problem solved. -
....Yeah what Troy said! Darren that last photo of the truck in the garage in the dark does not do the truck or bumper any favors both in lighting and in camera angle. I assure you that it is far heavier than it looks. I do agree with Troy in that if it was a hardcore trail rig only. I would have gone a different route (winch mount, more body armor, spring over axle, long arms, cage, exo, not to mention a paint job at maaco and done. One thing about all the trucks I have seen on this site is that their design, build and result are as varied as the builders. (and it should be said...rarely "finished" most continue to evolve. I expect that bucky will be no different.) As far as variety (and opinions) they are the spice of life I suppose. The reason I frequent this site is for the camaraderie, the support and help, and yes the opinions. If all I was after was validation and ego milking, I would limit my online time to facebook and be done with it. Bumper? had it made for the truck...I like it. nuff said. no offence taken. Ouch Darren............ For what Bob is going to use the truck for, that bumper is plenty stout. I've see this one and others that Fessybilt put together and while I agree that the bend perforations would look cleaner welded up and smoothed out, I don't see any real concerns about the bumper's overall strength. More than adequate for moderate and light trails. Would I use one for hardcore 'wheeling? Nope. But for the build Bob has going, I think it's spot on. And the width thing is a bit of a camera angle issue. It's not that wide. This photo puts a bit better perspective on the bumper's size and proportion:

you people with garages....yeah that. gave up mine years ago for a family room. (Try doing anything serious to the MJ in the winter in Denver in the driveway....) About that same time my wife got real tired of a couple of long term projects in the driveway. 59' willys pick up with the hurricane 6. and a pumpkin capable trebuchet (cub scout project that got out of hand). sadly got rid of both before completion. Made the right choice though, she's a great gal that puts up with me and my crap. -

I are humbled by your greatness. Wow man they look great together. If I were driving down the street and saw these two in a driveway, no way could I drive by without stopping and a knock on the door. Get some black wheels bumpers and trim on that XJ will ya? (poor thing) -
wish I could meet you there...got too much on my plate this year.

If mine sat like the pics you point out I would not care for it either (unless I kept a topper on the truck and it was not visible). While it is true that the CR Lawrence unit does sit "proud" it is not like those photos nor is it anwhere close to an inch on my installation. I am sorry my "honey do's" make it impossible to shoot yo more photos today I will do it as soon as I can for you. Obviously we all have different tastes and only you can tell what will and won't work.
-
Agreed.....I will send better angle close ups as soon as I can to support this. (looks like tomorrow before I will be back over there)
-
Agreed on the paint. Was thinking more like deep maroon with dark gunmtal grey fenders... Drool.

Can you get a couple of close-ups from approximately the same perspective as your second photo? I will see if I have other photos that will suit your purpose before the roll bar went on. And will gladly shoot whatever new ones will help. I should be back over to the painters this afternoon let me know if you will be ok with the roll bar being in the way but I will certainly take more angles and closeups.

This is the CR Lawrence unit. It is the one I have in Bucky. solid unit built very well. I can highly recommend this rear slider. [/url] Here is a couple of shots right after the installation

Hey I just had a dumpster leap from out of no where and smash into the back of my neighbors Durango (I have been borrowing) myself the other day. What was that old guy reference there bro? LOL. not looking forward to what I will pay at the P&P for a new lift gate for that big black beast. Great score on the XJ! where are the pics of the two of them together? -
1990 Rebirth ('97 Conversion)
buffalob replied to Rymanrph's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
I did both...upgraded to Grand Cherokee booster and master cylinder and went with the AEV big brake kit for a TJ. Both had a significant improvement in braking night and day to be exact..... The parts for the Big brake kit by American expedition vehicles while top notch and well built are very pricey. (paid more for the front brake set up that I did the MJ from Troy) The rotors are so much bigger that you will need to go up in wheel diameter to 17's -
Cherokee Country Door Panels
buffalob replied to zackcj7's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I scored my dash trim bezel off e-bay...they seem to come up pretty regular there. All the ones I have ever found at the local P&Ps always are cracked and or missing mount tabs. -
Cherokee Country Door Panels
buffalob replied to zackcj7's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Yes they will fit with no problem...don't know on the color match. I am dyeing mine the same color I did the rest of my interior panels (Chrysler agate). I can't imagine that the color would be any different than your current panels though. -
Last night mounted the rollbar, the side bars, and rear bumper. The touchup work on a couple of additional paint issues Clear coat on the tailgate and buffing the clear on the re-shoot on the bed sides is all that remains to be done. We are almost home!!! I also started prepping the original header panel once I got home last night. The more I look at the grill and headlight trim pieces the more I realize I am just not going to be ok with it as it is. New photos will have to wait till I am back over there tomorrow the light was just to lousy to even try any last night.
