  1. progress for the day after the wet sanding was to wet down every inch again and find any scratch nick or other imperfections, then mark them with a bit of tape so they can all be addressed tonight. tomorrow the clearcoat gets buffed out.
  2. Ok back at the painters with batteries in the camera and truck rolled out in the sunshine. The paint is a little anti-climactic as the truck has had the clearcoat mostly wet sanded with 1200 grit but is has not yet been buffed out. Tomorrow we hang the doors.
  3. And puts the poor thing out of it's misery.....
  4. Truck is painted (basecoat and clear) need final clearcoat buff, polish and reassembly. Last night re-hung the gas tank...SHE DRIVES!!! looks like a new battery might be in order, does not appear it will hold a charge. Will be wrapping up all the details over the next several days over there. Paint on the cab looks great. Love the color. Drove her out into the sunshine yesterday only to find dead batteries in the camera...Arghhhh. Feel like a kid at Christmas that was told to wait till the parents get up to open his gifts.................
  5. you mean the 2 piece bolted together factory jobs that tie the front of the roll bar to the "frame" rail through the bed floor, or the factory plates that go inside the fender wells for the rear legs of the roll bar? I don't have photos any at the moment but can take some of either or both sets for you before I bolt the roll bar down for good. I had to search and horse trade for them, they are not easy to come by (or at least they seemed so to me). Let me know how I can help.
  6. The work began in late November his shop in Watkins. (I mistakenly understood and later likewise posted that the shop was in Sterling). It is presently at his house approx. at Leetsdale & Quebec.
  7. I assure you future paint issues will be handled by a bonna fide professional in a legitimate business. After references are verified previous work scrutinized etc etc.....
  8. It would appear my son is raising another 4X4 enthusiast. Already prefers playing in the mud over just about anything else.
  9. Our grand daughters birthday party was well worth taking the day away from being at the painters.
  10. tomorrow I will pull her out in the sunshine and get better pics...promise. I can't wait.
  11. Back in the garage you can get a sense of how the color turned out The finish on the cab all looks really good. We put a few nicks in here and there mounting the bed all of which are fixable thank goodness. Tomorrow I am back over there to start bolting the grill pieces and hood on, re-hang the doors etc. Then on to finish wet sanding the bed and polish out the clear. Finally feels like we are in the home stretch...
  12. But wait there's more!!! here are a couple of teaser pics of the cab now in sealer, base coat and clear. It was getting late and we were running out of decent light, but I couldn't help taking a couple of pics as we pulled her in to bolt the bed back on.
  13. A few other photos of the process. not done yet but way closer.
  14. well here are some new progress photos as of yesterday. I would be over there today but we are hosting our grand daughters 2nd birthday this afternoon. First thing we worked on yesterday was to start the laborious process of wet sanding runs and orange peel on the bed.
  15. Looks great drop some serious dark window tint on her to complete the look.
  16. What a great looking clean MJ. I am anxious to see the new wheels/rubber on also!
  17. Man I am jealous ...you are getting dialed in and it looks great. I can't wait till I am getting to where you are and bolt it all back up. Looking awesome
  18. I'm down JIm, and probably both my sons, neither of them drive comanches (but they're both pretty ok otherwise, at least they drive jeeps). However give me till Friday to commit as I have not yet picked up Bucky yet, and I am banking on the word of my painter that Friday is the day...nuff said.
  19. Jim... is Hayden pass trail the one you had in mind by Leadville?
  20. Man.. I aint been to Leadville in a coon's age... I think you might be on to something Jim. Trail run camping howl at the moon kinda thing. Wonder what campground we could take over enmasse? Put it together man...I'm down. Last weekend in July as a thought?
  21. 64th & Jay St...(Jay is 2 blocks east of Lamar.) I doubt if we live more than a mile apart....... sometimes it is a small world eh?
  22. congratulations! what a beast indeed. Love the agressive stance on that rubber. looks mean.
  23. Where in Arvada? I've seen your truck and almost broke my neck trying to see wher it was going. I was not in mine at the time.......
  24. Don't know if I want to put Bucky straight on the trail (hardcore ones anyway) after the paint is done either. (after I get her back to gether and driving for a while ...you bet) Any interst in a group BBQ some central location eat drink swap lies etc. I should be driving her back from the painter on Friday. Sometime later in July for a get together perhaps?
  25. Best one so far till the reassembly from paint is done.
