Can Spell Comanche (2/11)

  1. Thank you! That's very good info. I already put in the starter, but next time I'm under there, maybe I'll jam a plug in there.
  2. Here's a video I found on the youtubes. At about 2 minutes and 30 seconds you'll see the hole after he takes the starter out. His doesn't have a plug either, so I guess I'm just going to put my new starter in. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iCyBrn0k7eA
  3. I agree with you. But what is it?
  4. Well, I lose a lot of oil, and this hole is right above the starter, near the oil pan, and there was a bunch of oily junk on top of the starter. Of course, that could have come from any number of places. I'd just like to hear from someone who remembers taking their starter out and seeing the hole, or seeing a plug, or knows why that hole is there.
  5. So I pulled my starter today to work on an issue I was having with the starter not running right away when I turned the key. After I got it out, I noticed that there's an open hole in the crank case directly above the starter. Should there be something in that hole, like a soft plug or something? What is its function? Thanks for any info. I'm putting in a new starter in the morning, so if that needs to be plugged up, I need to do it before then.
  6. This is a good plan. I picked up a single aux fan in the junk yard out of a cherokee, so I think what I'll do is use one of these fan controllers to run this electric fan along with the stock mechanical fan. Now if I could just find an intact stock fan shroud in the yard I'd be all set.
  7. Thank you! That's exactly what I was searching for.
  8. Yeah, I could wire it to run all the time, but is there a way to set it up to run the way that it would in a newer jeep? Like where it runs only at certain temperatures or whatever? Probably simpler to run it all the time... Yes, I want to swap the mechanical fan for an electric.
  9. I've got an 88 comanche 4.0. I'd like to swap out the stock fan for an electric fan. I saw one at the junkyard in a late 90s cherokee. I could pull the fan, but are there sensors or wiring harnesses that I need to pull as well to make the swap? Is this swap even possible with my 88? I've been searching the forums for this info, but I haven't had any luck. Any help would be appreciated.
  10. http://peoria.craigslist.org/cto/3890148079.html Seriously. I hope someone here owns/ buys that sucker.
  11. Thanks very much! It was the Trans fuse. How silly of me to think that the fuse that's specifically for the backup lights would be the only one to effect the backup lights. Ahh, good times. Anyway, off to adjust my parking brake and try to squeeze an inspection out of someone before Monday.
  12. That's a good tip. I'll check that out when I get the truck back tomorrow. Thanks.
  13. No, i've never seen them come on in any gear. I should check that again though, as I only looked at one bulb, and it wasn't on the side I can see from the drivers seat.... I'm pretty sure they're just not getting power.
  14. Cleaning the C101 didn't fix the reverse lights either. Although i suppose I could clean that thing more... but this should have gotten me somthing. What the hell were they thinking with that connector? It's packed full of crap. Maybe if I have some time later I'll soak that sucker in mineral spirits to get it really clean.
