OOPs...the photos above are of the AMC onslaught at the Lemons race in Denver a couple of weeks back. The first shot is my neighbor in his 66 rambler marlin it is running for a fourth year it sports presently a 454 chevy truck motor mid engine (moved 3 feet back from stock location) the marlin is also set up running a IFS rear from an XJ6 Jag. The pacer in the other shots is his buddy's team it ran for a second yaer with a 4 liter engine set up with a carb. Shot of the Marlin from a previous year...

Well I have the Bed back from the painters...been blown off again since the day we shot the Raptor stuff on the bumpers etc. That will be 3 weeks tomorrow. Drama.....god I hate it. I have gone over the (painted) bed with a fine tooth comb at this point. I knew that the clear had multiple and severe runs that would have to be addressed but the closer I looked the runs and orange peel in the clear also hid a ton of pin holes in the base coat. It also became apparent that there are several areas of some pretty poor attempts at blocking. these are noticeable now but will really stand out when the clear is truly smoothed out and properly shiny. I have less than two days into the prep work on the other bed and only one coat of primer (no blocking yet) and it is already straighter than the one painted...oh yeah and I'm not "an artist".....don't ask. I will post some more photos that show the flaws.. Rather than try to hide them..... after almost seven months damn it, I at least deserve a good job done. Sunday I spent some time with another list member and sold off some un needed parts etc. Troy Yellaheep is who we bought Bucky from in the first place, we have swapped and sold parts back and forth ever since. He has a big trailer and has offered to help retrieve Bucky if I decide that it is time to pull the plug. Yesterday I went back over to the Local MAACO and had them look up the quote they gave me last summer It is less than the down payment that I have already spent with this guy let alone the additional materials I have paid for. I have decided that I am done waiting and prodding and being dis satisfied with poor work to show for all the BS BS and BS.... wish me luck. Thank you for all your kind words support and compliments...will keep you posted.

I used the u-pol raptor.....also in Black. good sh*t looks great. Good thing they give you a "gun" to use. I would not want to shoot anything that gloppy through a good gun. I also shot the bumpers, sliders, roll bar, bed rail caps etc. etc Time will tell how well it holds up, and if I made a good choice. Wish I had a shop let alone an add on...can't fault you on that expenditure. -

looking forward to the bed liner going on. agree with you that the (visual only) flare issue will not even be noticed. What bedliner brand you using? -
Gotta admit It I've used sheetrock screws for many a task myself. (automotive included don't think I ever got that battery cable back off again now that I think about it...) guilty as charged. My name is bob....and I'm a bodger.

Looks awesome love the flares...can't wait to see the bedliner on the rokers etc. how high up on the body are you going? and are you going to coat the flares too? That is my game plan on Bucky.... Had a chat with bushwacker last week about flat top rears for our trucks...... Jury is still out on that one. (but they have e-mailed me twice and asked for a second batch of photos showing the fittment issues) Fingers crossed.... Your truck looks spectacular...I am very jealous. -

I am so glad you decided to keep your truck man, it is one of my favorites to drool over. There are so many custom trick features it is amazing and the complete package just staggering. Quick post the pics with the new wheels already..... -
Sprayed right over em...will let you know if it was a good plan or not as I use them........

Both the SEM and the U-Pol Raptor Products are Catalyzed (two part) noticed that the SEM offered a separate "adhesion promoter" might have gone that route had I known sooner. If you look on line at the bed liner Kit (U-Pol) it include both parts, and a gun to shoot the stuff (I would not want to put anything this gloppy through a good gun btw) ...almost idiot proof ( good thing in my case). I bought 2 complete kits off e-bay for $ 109.00 per kit. They were on the door step 3 days later....

My bumpers sliders etc .were built by Jarrod Fessler. The rear bumper sliders bed rail caps and the modification of the factory roll bar to hold my spare tire are custom made for the truck, the front bumper however is on of his standard offerings for a Cherokee (my son has the same front bumper on his 99 XJ). His company name is Fessybuilt he has a web site. The company has been closed for about 8 months following a divorce and subsequent relocation to Brighton Colorado. I spoke with him last week to inquire about a second set of the bed rail caps on the truck for the matching trailer. He said that he hopes to back up and running by end of August and will again be accepting orders. If you want to see pics of all his stuff when it was still mounted to my truck before the Raptor was on them and before the truck was disassembled for paint. Check my build thread.. Great looking truck love the "rivets" ..... -
I am a stickler for prep trust me.....I did not shoot the stuff on, but after watching my painter shoot the bumpers last Friday, I would not hesitate to give it a try. Will keep you posted as to how it holds up.

I can't yet comment as to durability (it's only been on a couple of weeks and the truck is not on the road yet) but at 25% of what I was quoted by Line-X and how good it looks, I say this U-Pol Raptor $#!& is awesome.
-
I was not in the militay (and respect greatly anyone who served)...but I still know an a$$hole when I hear one. The guy you quote from Naxja more than qualifies in my book.
-
Headliner looks great....... Bucky started as 2WD also I see great (taller) things in your future.
-
Man you do clean work....taking on the wireing ....yeah well...I'll give it some thought. Truck is looking great
-
The paint color match with the wheels is far closer than I would have thought it would be...Man I love it when a plan comes together. The paint will go on the cab tomorrow....yippee!
-
I am really liking the u-pol raptor stuff. I mean for such a cheesy name (and the package with the dinosaur on it...come on) the $#!& is really awesome.
-
when I take the bed back over on Monday it will bolt back on the truck and the clearcoat wet sanded and polished.
-
The duplicolor I used for the trim on the tail lights was a pretty close match for the color shot on the truck bed. I is a factory Mercedes color that has been "doctored up" by the painter to match the color on the wheels.

this is one light pre-clear and one light post-clear to show how all the fine scratches etc are gone ...shazam!
