Is a factory 4.0 liter in a 1990 renix? is it H.O.? I assume that I would need a different wiring harness in the engine bay as well as the computer. going into my 88' ( 4.0 liter...renix) Finally be able to use all the other stuff I stashed for the build on the red 87' Found a good deal this am on Craigs list local I am at work and don't have my books.... Want to pick it up as a builder backup for Bucky as she has 300k ish on her. Can any one with more off the top of the head let me know. If it is still renix I might still go for it for a back up ( but will not be as excited....read dissapointed)

Comanche Of The Month - May 2013
buffalob replied to Automan2164's topic in Comanche of the Month (MJOTM)
Very well deserved...and your truck looks awesome as well. For the record....I would go with black wheels....but that's just me. Congrats man!!! -
the only thing I don't listen to is rap and opera. Both equally offensive in my book anything else is fair game ( though I have to say that hardcore and thrash metal I have to enjoy in moderation at this point). I was raised on clasical and folk music (my parents had a folk band in the early 60's in Austin). I was the front man for a punk band in '83 84' as lead singer conga player and occasional electric banjo.... Currently I am hooked on Joe Bonnamassa...probably the most important and talented young blues player since Stevie Ray. If unfamiliar with this guy (and you are an acoustic or electric blues guitar fan) check out any of the ten plus CDS this guy has released (by the time he was 35...Christ where did I go wrong?? oh yeah thats right, chicks dope and booze)

Yep the pics show the clips I'm talkin about.....Goofy...I rest my case.

your truck looks incredible Earl...I can't tell you how jealous I am. Thanks for the heads up on the mirror retaining bracket issue. I intend to replace the windshield after paint (assuming we get there). I already have the 97 and up windshield rubber gasket to do this. Irritating to find I still need another part, but grateful to learn about ahead of time. Assume you will be using the wonderful weather to be out driving around .....I would be. Can you elaborate on the difficulty with the drip rail trim? I wasted one of mine trying to get it off (and later stepping on it in the shed). Based on this I have left the other side in place and prepped it for paint. The intention was to straighten the other side ( or replace it) and do the same. The goofy clips that hold these it place are well...... goofy. In keeping with the monochrome direction, the rails on mine were to be painted right along with the truck and (hopefully)never removed again. Let me know what it is you are struggling with.......................

sorry for the poor picture quality... but this is me (fuzzy grizzled old F*** ) at the jam session Saturday in our family room

I can't tell you guys how it makes me feel to get your notes of concern...really touching. I spoke with the painter Saturday night on the phone (he called ME...shazam!) getting ready to shoot the sealer...(I'll believe it when I see it). We had out of town old friends and family for the weekend... I have been going way out of my way for these many months to avoid weekend committments (and out of town buisness travel), to be available if help is needed, and to prod if not. I could not get down to help him this weekend...just figures that he would e-mail, text (and call!!!) when I was so engaged... The gathering was in part to celebrate my 55th and to have a long overdue jam session with a couple of guys I have not seen and /or played music with in over 20 years...It was a hoot. I have a couple of calls in to the painter to see where we are at...hopefully a good chunk of progress before we got 5 more inches of snow overnight last night (and it is not expected to let up till later in the afternoon) when I get an update I will let you guys in on it......... really... thank you for the concern. Bob

Rear Flat Fender Fitment Issues
buffalob replied to Biotex's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Custom built for the truck By Jarod Fessler (his company name is Fessybuilt) He has a website but due to his shop moving (following a divorce...he got to keep his company intact though) From Thornton to Brighton Colorado, he was not accepting new orders for quite a while. I have not been in touch with him for about 8 months so I do not know if he is up and running again. I do not want to speak for the man but encourage you to contact him. Check the web for his website and drop him an e-mail. he is a great guy to work with. I know he made patterns on both items you mention... He also modified my roll bar to double as a spare tire carrier, built the side rails/sliders, and the front bumper. Check my build page "the building of bucky" for lots more photos. If you talk to Jarod, pass him a howdy from me and my son (Nathan) as he did both bumpers on Nate's cherokee also. -
Good thing I don't have the cash... or I would surely be single....... What a peach of a truck...totally drool worthy.

Rear Flat Fender Fitment Issues
buffalob replied to Biotex's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Did you check out my build thread for the pics? I will be dealing with the small gap on the rear fenders with "welding" in plastic and covering with U-Pol Raptor as well. check the photos...the fit issue is really a piddly problem and should not be a big deal to fix... Posted 20 March 2013 - 09:18 AM The regular bushwackers are cut out for the rear (and front) of a 2 door XJ ....and same on the comanche. The flat top flares are not cut out for the rear of either application. The flat tops are cut out on the front for both applications no exception...you will need to cut the fender to get them to fit . bushwacker does not make a direct fit rear flat top flare for a comanche, though they can be made to fit.... there will be a gap at the body line on the back of the rear flare as the opening is bigger on the back of the comanch than a 2 door XJ. IMO the gap is no big deal. If you look at my build thread "the building of Bucky" you can clearly see what I am talking about...especially in the pasenger side photos showing close-ups on the rear bumper wrap around corners. once she is back from paint. I intend to use spray on bed liner material on th lower body line, the bumpers andthe bushwackers. I will be filling that little "gap" and you will not see it..... If you need me to re-post you some pics to show yyou what I mean I can get to it tonight.... let me know. Also there are photos showing the front fender trimming that was done after removing the bushwackers for body prep and paint...again, no big deal, just take your time. Hey I'm A New Member, Just Got My Comanche, Please Hit Me Up
buffalob replied to jeepmarine312's topic in The Pub
Hope the decals you mention are blue... you can bring your truck to Denver and fit right in....................... -
bout sums it up.....painter slid under the radar again.....(and we got hit again with snow) will post again when I have some more to show...(sigh) If nothing else I plan to clean and dye the rest of the interior panels over the weekend weather permitting
-
but did you use a small child... or a dwarf? The former will get you into hot water with child labor laws... btw the later prefer the term "little people" got a "cease and desist" from some attorney under retainer with their union...go figure. You are really makin' me look forward to the door reassembly bud...
-
Your door panels look great... Oh and I need not ask why you reccomend lube on the threads of (BRAND NEW) door handles....already knew the answer to that one. (I am not looking forward to re-installation of the door locks either btw.this will be my firrst time...blush) The handles I have done several times. I find it best done with multiple tools run through the access hole you mention, one arm crammed into the door from inside to locate said tool, either a small child or dwarf to peer into the hole While standing on a kitchen stool I have so the wife can get into the truck, as she stands on the lawn pointing and laughing for effect, mix in hand cramps and loud swearing to suit.... then snap off the stud as you showed in your photo after the rod is finally though that glorified hunk of plasic retainer...still have not found the screwdriver thrown over the fence. While I can't neccesarily reccomend this method to everybody, It has always worked for me.

Not A Real Project Yet, Assembling Ideas Right Now
buffalob replied to Butchershop's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
Really like the color combo...as suspected the wheels look great on it. cudos to you sir. -
That would explain why I walk in circles...I love this forum, learn something new every day. Seriously I would not go the heavy duty Luk route doing it over, but maily only because as a daily driver in Denver traffic, the stop & go is killer. So it really depends on how you use it and where you drive it.... Great quality parts though.

Got tired of the jamming bersa (but have not pulled it all apart to see what needs to be done about it.) No plans on giving up on it yet. Replaced it with a Sig 239 9MM ( to go along with the Sig 250 set I have in .40....so I have now all three 250's sub compact, compact, and full frame in .40). The sig 239 is an excellent mid size CC piece. SA/DA, single stack 9mm so it's nice and thin in a SOB holster, great balance, great trigger ...(after a trip to the gunsmith to have the quick re-set job done to it). Love the sig night sights. Only draw back is the price.... New retail is around $ 795.00 (I think)...... I paid $ 550.00 used ( but REAL nice shape) in box with 3 mags. The sig trigger parts ran another $ 55.00. I honestly do not know if I will ever look at another brand of hand gun (unless of course the right 1911 or genuine original walther ppk comes along).
