  1. Next the now dyed dash (btw I dyed the dash after cleaning with water/greased lightning and scrub brush a healthy rinse with clean water. Then several days later used greased lightning this time undiluted straight from the bottle and a cursory rub down with a very worn green scotchbrite pad to scuff it up a bit without getting too serious. After water rise and blowing off with compressed air, I wiped everything down with alcohol.) Before the areas requiring dye were shot I painted the interior of the glovebox with Krylon fusion black textured rattlecan paint..special for plastic. Next you see the ready to be shot lower right dash panel in interior subdued lighting you can see the contrast well here.
  2. Anyway, while waiting, waiting and waiting. I thought that with the weather turning a bit warmer, that I would begin the process of getting what interior items that were not in the truck, dissassembled cleaned and prepped for dyeing. I have the two tone grey (darker dash and lighter a/b and door panels). When I found and installed the agate leather buckets, I decided that going with the newer XJ interior upgrade was not my bag, but upgrading the old school interior was. I like the dark grey agate color and set about dyeing the panels dash and console to match. When I scored the Axles and spare tail lights from Troy last spring, I had also gotten a complete dash out of the lwb metric ton that he had to scrap (as it had title "issues" as I recall). This dash was grey also but was not all cracked an\nd torn as is the one in buck now. I read about using SEM interior vinyl dye on this website, and gotta tell ya...this $#!& is amazing! In the next two shots you can see the lower left dash components prior to the dye next to the lower dash panel after dye. It is not so dramatic a change in the direct sunlight but indoors it is substancial. The white spots on the undyed panel are from the dishwasher....Wife was out for the day......
  3. I had it brought in to Denver on a car hauler. Other than these photos all I have done is build a gate in the fence to get it into the side yard, and look at it and dream.... The game plan is to build a system of containers for camping gear that nest into the trailer and subsequently these containers do not get "unpacked". I want them to fit in so that they can all be tossed in on a Thursday night, leaving room for the food stuff etc, to be loaded Friday afternoon, hook up the trailer and gone......
  4. No bucky is not back from paint...yes I am climbing the walls...I have been able to find a couple odd chores to do to get ready for the work that will need doing when she gets back. But first, I had mentioned a trailer earlier in the build thread. I bought it from another list member in Southern California last winter, At one point I had a link from the build up on this trailer from another list member who actually built this work of art. After bucky gets home the trailer will eventually be painted to match and raised to match bucky's hieght.
  5. Na... it's not like you're strokin someone else's engine........
  6. ford and chevy make trucks??!?!!? Damn, now thats news...
  7. It does not get any more classic than red & black...looking forward to seeing it painted...
  8. Got mine the other day as well...very impressed with the quality and packaging. I can't wait to get the truck back and start in on the interior. Thank you Steve for your exemplary product and service................. Buffalo B
  9. the color as I told the painter... will be as close to the same metalic gunmetal as is on the pintler wheels as you can get it without going to a custom color I can't match later when I have the trailer painted. So closest color (in jeepspeak) would be silverstone...... When I get it back will be happy to send pics of the rear flat tops going on... yeah there is a bit of a gap in the back on the rear body line that you can see on my build thread but I can live with it. When I hit the bottom of the body/ bumpers sliders etc with spray on bed liner (probably going with lineX. in a complementary dark grey...not black as I had em before) I am hoping to hide that mis-match a bit more... I am really diggin your wheel/ tire combo btw....
  10. wish you luck on 4 to 6 weeks at the paint shop...today is 9 weeks since I dropped mine off..... Your build is impressive and the truck looks great....what color?
  11. Man you do nice work...your interior is as nice as the rest of your truck...spectacular!
  12. I will never get tired of reading this thread!!!!!!!!!!

  15. groovy...many thanks. Bucky is due out of the paint shop this weekend and I am jonesin to get all the requisite goodies on her.
  16. Who was selling the reflective JEEP stickers for the back of the tailgate? Was it someone on the list? E-bay? I can't remember. This getting old $#!& sucks... eyes are going... wrists hurt... mind going....what's next?
  17. is that $ 560.00 Canadian?
  18. I have already gotten notice on the shipment of my headliner. (paypal was sent Saturday morning) any way you cut it that is absolutely awsome service!! cudos and thanks to you sir! simply outstanding. Buffalo b.
  19. Let me know how you like the bersa I have had periodic jamming problems with mine in the attached photo. got mine in nickle (new?) in a box last summer from a private party. at $ 325.00
  20. that would be great if you have a set. Yes the buckets are out of a 97 cherokee ( agate leather), but they are on a set of factory MJ brackets the plastic trim pieces go around the MJ brackets. ( ie they are bracket specific not seat specific). The bucket brackets I have had the trim pieces at one time ( more like what was left of them to be honest) when I got them. So I know they exist my luck though they are probably rare as hens teeth as I suspect that they only fit factory MJ bucket brackets. I have no idea if the brackets from an early XJ trim pieces would fit....don't know?
  21. I have been told the only one still in production that is a straight up bolt on for the renix era 4.0 liter is made by pacesetter. (that is what is on my 88) I think it ran a bit over $ 200.00 I had one on my 89" cherokee that I intalled in the early 90's made by Borla.... but is was $$stainless steel and I do not believe is is still in production. Hopefully someone with more knowledge about swapping new stuff w/ old stuff will chime in.
  22. I am in for one...where can I look at color options. prefer black or dark grey (going with agate panels/seats) Do I assume this is including the "backer board" ?
  23. Perhaps I made too general a statement..... the flange (both configuration and thickness) on the header posed a problem with getting the renix intake to fit. With grinding It would have probably been ok. I went with the Banks header specifically for the design of the thicker flange (to give more material to port match to the head). It was originally bought for a stroker going into my 87' when that project was front burner.... I did not want to mess with the header significantly ( new cost was $ 425.00 before the 0-2 bung was installed) and risk not having it work with the (at that time) intended upgrade to an HO stroker. I do not know if other brand HO designed headers would have a similar problem. My issue was (I assume) based primarily on the flange of the banks specific design.... and your comment about the EGR was something I was unaware of as well....thanks.
  24. Check my thread... "the building of bucky" for photos. I had it done at a glass shop when all the other glass was changed also so I did not do the install myself ( blasphemous ). I know that additional sealant was used, but it all looks clean and professional and no it does not leak. I will shoot any photos you like after I get the truck back from the paint shop.
