My uncle who works for a Police department in north Alabama sent me a Facebook message saying the impound yard is selling Comanche for $300. if its not sold it will be going to the crusher. Dad was thinking about buying it.. and the more i look at it i am thinking it will make an awesome trail rig 4x4 conversion... (this way I don't damage my Nice pretty MJ) But my question is if Dad or I buy it what is involved in getting the title? from his message I think the one thing that bugs me the most is not one of the rims match.. lol

Yes the ZJ (93-98) is the older boxy look (kinda like the XJ) the WJ (99-04) is more rounded and is slightly wider.

Cab Vent Problem
Blue88Comanche replied to AeroNautical's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
So, it should only be pulling outside air while venting, and doesn't go through the heater core. Now I'm just confused, because even with cold weather, if I use vent, it'll just blow hot air. If i put the heater on, though, it blows much hotter air. Maybe somethings stuck? I don't have a mental image of how this system works. To check the position of the hear core air mixer thing, there is a cable that runs from the cool/heat slider to the passenger side foot well, over the transmission tunnel... if my MJ where at my house I would post a picture.. anyway the cable on dads MJ was stuck and the clip that attaches the cable to the air mixer arm was broken as well... of that is the case then it may be stuck in ''heat mode'' its easy enough to flip it back to cool with the cable removed. -
My cousin lives near Valdosta, GA and his new GF has a TJ. She apparently know how to use it as well. we where thinking about meeting up after he gets pack from his deployment to go wheeling. I live in Mobile, AL and there is not really anything near me worth going to.

I have the 4.7L in my WK, as far as the WK goes I love it, I really wanted the 5.7 or the 3.0 CRD, but could not find any at the time. Edit: my WK also gets about 14 or so MPG city, the best I ever got was 21 MPG (700 mile round trip) The MPG rating for the 4.7 and 5.7 almost the same but the 5.7 has way more power to go along with it.

Well if they are still selling MJ springs I would get the Hellcreek MT springs, I have their MT springs and love them. -
Comanche to Cherokee parts compatability
Blue88Comanche replied to E4Marty's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
we had to modify the trim parts and the header panel to make it go together on dad's 89, using the newer 90+ design but yes once assembled it does look the same (or better in dad's case) -
Wj V8...dana 44
Blue88Comanche replied to 88whitemanche's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Another bit: Most all the Passport/Rodeo D44s had the Trac-Lok diff. This diff will directly swap into any other D44. I used one in my MJ D44 4.10-geared axle using thick gears. lucky, my pick and pull rarely has anything good, i went through 15 passports/rodeos before i finally found one with trac-lok (or the trac-lok in them was so far gone it acted like an open diff) -

Blue88Comanche replied to 88whitemanche's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I think the ratio of the d44 I pulled had 4.30 ish gears. It was something odd, not the 4.11/4.10 we normally use. -
Will This Bracket Work? Ax15
Blue88Comanche replied to AeroNautical's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
maybe someone can chime in in that mounting plate.. It should bolt up to the tranny no problem, its the rubber transmission mount / cross member i am not sure about. EDIT: here is the pic from his ebay seller: -

Blue88Comanche replied to AeroNautical's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I think this is what you are asking for. this is the mounting plate that is attached directly to the rubber transmission mount, that is then connected to the cross member. -

The WJ Axels are wider if I remember correctly, and they have a 5 on 5 bolt pattern vs our 4.5 on 5 -
I have always wondered how you all chose MJOTM. Now that's one thing to check off the bucket list!

My background and screen saver varies, when I am at work I have a Anytime Fitness background on my laptop and tablet, but at home I usually swap it to StarCraft 2 pictures or a handful of MJOTM pictures. Right now its Nova from StarCraft....

We still haven't heard back from them, Cory took his time getting his drums and soundboard together. So it was sent on last minute. His mom has a friend who knew or is a parent to (I can't remember how the relation was) someone in the Kicks, that's how we heard about it. Cory said that if they already hired someone they may pass his audition on to other producers. At least he is getting his foot in the door.

Towed Home For The First Time.
Blue88Comanche replied to Blue88Comanche's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Yes it's a boost / vacuum gauge. I have another insert from a jeep without a clock that I am going to use instead of that one. This way there is not a hole where the clock part was. The vacuum gauge is nice, and its also cool to have a responsive needle lol -
yesterday I was on my way home from the junkyard, and i was coming up to a red light when the truck made an awful clunk, and the truck lurched like it popped out of gear. i was able to drive a short distance to a small parking lot. so i started by shifting the tc into 2wd (it was in full time) i pulled forward and back a short distance and it still was clanking, then i removed the front drive shaft, and again it was still clunking. dad noticed that when i pulled forward at some point the rear shaft sorta stops rotating and the diff case rotates upward only for it to snap back into place... I haven't done any off roading sense i installed the rear Aussie locker. the engine still runs fine (aside from overheating due to a bad pressure bottle) I haven't started looking at it yet, hopefully i can tomorrow. I think it may be: Broken ring or pinion TC case issue (broken gear?) however on the plus side while i waited the 1 1/2 to 2 hours for the tow truck i was able to swap the old plastic dash bezel to a wood grain.
